Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Think there are a few who need a rest having played with niggles for the last few weeks. Perfect opportunity for these squad players to put a marker down if they perform well.Kasper.De Laet MorganHuthKonch Hammond JamesKingAlbrightonKramaricMahrezSubs: Schwarzer, Wasyl, Drinkwater, Cambiasso, Nuge, Vardy, Ulloa.
filbertway Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 I doubt it'll be hiding. We could play Wes at the back by himself and Mourinho would settle for the 1-0.
Thracian Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 I think Hammond might be dropped in. KS RDL Huth Morgan Konch Hammond James King Mahrez Ulloa Kram Give the rest a break / put them on the bench. Saturday is a lot more important but I still think with that team we could challenge then and nick something. I don't see the argument that "Saturday is more important". Tomorrow there's three points at stake and we need every point we can get. Theoretically unlikely points against Chelsea will be just as welcome as any others and I can see nothing to be gained by not comtesting those points to the full. It's already been mentioned how badly we've reacted after deliberately fielding a weakened side in the past. You can't just switch confidence and self-belief on and off like the living room light - our only focus should be on trying our best to win the next game. Anything we get might turn out to be vital come the last day of the season. And, for all the assumptions that there are "easy games" and "easy points" available against teams other than Chelsea, we might as easily have lost 1-0 to bottom-of-the-table Burnley but for their penalty being misdirected by a few inches. So yet another so-called "easy" game would have been squandered.
MrSpaM Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 We really should just throw everything we've got at them tommorow, no point in holding back at all. No reason we can't get something out of this game considering worse teams than us have managed to get points out of them.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 There's a fine for playing a weakened side in the league intentionally. By saying this he's covering the club from those accusations, and any players that do miss out will be through 'injury' or 'squad rotation'. I still think the game tomorrow will see us play a weakened side I hope you are wrong, but I believe you are right.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Genuinely makes me cringe when people look at an U21 player and say 'yeah bring him up to the 1st team' like it's not even a big deal. Ben Chilwell plays under 18 football... there's no way he's ready yet. I'd play Kasper Huth Wes Was Albrighton Hammond King Mahrez Wood Kram Ulloa True, but Peter Shilton made his debut at the age of sixteen!

So yet another so-called "easy" game would have been squandered. The reason I say that it is a lot more important is if we beat Newcastle we drag them back into the mix and give us another team to finish above. The Team I have suggested is more than capable of putting 100% in and getting something out of Chelsea. There is no point risking Vardy, Nugent and Jeff if they are only 50/50 when we have decent cover its not like we are having to bring in youth to cover these positions. Mahrez, Kramaric, James are more than capable of being dropped into the team and Hammond most will agree improved our team when he was in it especially against a team who will dominate possession. There was nothing easy about playing Burnley at home and you would never of heard anyone with half a brain saying this either, but playing Newcastle a team that has lost 7 in a row has to be classed as an 'easier' game.

I still think the game tomorrow will see us play a weakened side I don't get how they can enforce that, you're asked to select a squad of players at the start of the season. You should be allowed to play any combination of your squad the way you see fit. I know in the JPT a team has to field at least 6 or 7 first team regulars, Gary Megson got round that be starting players and subbing them after about 10 minutes haha.

Wood,..proven premiership goalscorer, knockhart, Moore, Upson, Simpson, Lawrence.???. All have played this season. Some fans would say, playing Konch last week already weakened the team.
blueonyou Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 The thing is, it's not just the points, it's the goal difference, playing a weak side and risking getting a 6-0 spanking could potential be worth 6 points itself. Nige wont put out a crap side, he'll play the best players who are fully match fit
biggs Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 We must put out the best team available for this game. Scenario: End of the season we are relegated by a point or on goal difference......disappointing and stupid that we never gave this game a chance and lost by 2 or 3. Might happen anyways but not trying is mad......and playing Wood, Upson, Lawrence, are you kidding me that you'd be satisfied playing these players for the run in. Probably not I'd expect

Wood is NOT a proven premiership goalscorer - where on earth did you pull that little nugget from? On form, Upson and Moore are 4th/5th choice, so they would weaken the side. Simpson and Konchesky are both weaker options for us. Knockaert and Lawrence have barely played this season. Playing one or two players who aren't necessarily first XI regulars isn't a weakened side. Its if we played 4-5 of them at once for no apparent reason that we'd be facing those accusations.
yorkie1999 Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 If we did play a second string 11 and by some miracle they actually won, what would the line-up for Saturday be?
dbtcity Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Looking at pearsons pre game interview for the Chelsea game on foxesplayer and it cuts to a training session with what looks like a 11 v 11, Couldn't see a few players but from what I seen I think we will be setting out with a 532 formation Didn't see a keeper but id imagine kasper in goal The 3 centre backs were Was Huth Morgan Only seen 1 wing back konch The 3 in cm were james cambiasso king And I only seen 1 striker kramaric
theessexfox Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Is there a more offensive fine in sport than 'playing a weakened side'? These are Premier League squads! If we played, hypothetically: Kasper Simpson Moore Huth Konchesky Mahrez Drinkwater Hammond Knockaert Wood Nugent That is a capable side and one that could do a job.

Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Is bringing in Kramaric, Mahrez, James, Hammond, De Laet really weakening the side that much? I think Riyad and Kram will be biting at the bit to get in to the team for the run in, and if that means resting players who are carrying knocks then all the better for the squad as a whole. Absolutely get stuck in to them and try and get something out of the game, which we can. Would rather lose 1-3 going for it than 0-1 protecting our goal difference.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Also if we were to go 2-0 down I absolutely wouldn't think we were done and dusted, Liverpool had never thrown away a 2 goal lead in Premier League history at home, and United had never lost from 2 goals in front either.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Is there a more offensive fine in sport than 'playing a weakened side'? These are Premier League squads! It really winds me up, managers should be free to choose whoever they want to play. It's disrespectful to the players.
