Haydos Posted 27 April 2015 Posted 27 April 2015 1-0 defeat wouldn't be the worst result at this point. Don't see why we can't have a go like we did at the Bridge.
LCFCSOULBOY Posted 27 April 2015 Posted 27 April 2015 Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson not ruling out weakened team vs. Chelsea Leicester manager Nigel Pearson insists that his side must not get complacent and that they are not yet safe from relegation. Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has not ruled out fielding a weakened team against Premier League leaders Chelsea on Wednesday in order to plan ahead for the Foxes' relegation fight. Leicester seemed destined for the drop at the end of March, but have won four consecutive games in April to climb a point above the relegation zone into 17th place. The Foxes face Chelsea on Wednesday before a run-in which features games against fellow relegation candidates Newcastle, Sunderland and QPR. Wolves were handed a £25,000 suspended fine from the FA in 2010 for fielding a weakened side, while Blackpool received the full £25,000 punishment in 2011 for the same offence. However, Pearson insists he is only concentrating on his team's needs before the visit of Jose Mourinho's men. "My focus is Leicester City, we will always do what is best for us," Pearson said in the Daily Mail. "If we need to freshen it up, we will. [David] Nugent is injured, [Jeff] Schlupp is injured, [Jamie] Vardy had an injection in his foot just before the [burnley] game. We will assess it. "All we are interested in is that our fate is now in our hands and the longer we can keep that, the better the chance we have of surviving. All I'm interested in is keeping our players focused on winning games." Leicester's fate is now in their own hands after four straight wins in April has left them a point above the drop zone. Pearson has successful experience of relegation battles: the coach was at Carlisle in 1999 and saw his loan signing Jimmy Glass keep the club in the Conference with an injury-time winner, while he was assistant to Bryan Robson in 2005 as West Brom escaped the drop from the Premier League. However, the manager says Leicester's recent resurgence -- capped by Saturday's 1-0 win at fellow strugglers Burnley -- has nothing to do with his history, adding: "It is about the players believing. You have to back your own ability. "You can draw [great escape] parallels but it is all about the players you have. "No two situations are the same. The only thing that is applicable from the different situations is that the players believe and they think every game is important and give 100 percent commitment. "The most important thing is we put [the four wins] behind us and concentrate on the next game." This playing a weakened team worries me. Chelsea are probably really up for this and could run amok against us. We should play our game and have a go. While attacking they cannot score. Need to hold the score down for Goal Deifference just in case we will need it come end of the season. We could even nick it knowing the way we are playing right now. Any ideas?

nnfox Posted 27 April 2015 Posted 27 April 2015 Chelsea players will want to win the title at home. They need to win two games and after us, they have two home games. Their squad is fragile at the moment (injury wise) and I believe if we really get into them in the first 10-15 minutes then a lot of their players won't fancy it. They won't want to be injured for party time at the Bridge. Honestly, I believe they would be happy with a point before the game.
reynard Posted 27 April 2015 Posted 27 April 2015 Anyone who thinks Chelsea won't be up for this etc etc is simply deluded./ Win against us and they can win the title at home to Crystal Palace the next game. I can see us resting Vardy but if we play a weakened side we could easily get thumped. They are a damn good side whoever they play and put 5 past Swansea away. Hazard against Konchesky doesn't look a great match up! We need pace and physicality in this game as they are a big strong powerful team as well as very high quality. If we play way above ourselves and get in their faces a bit we might sneak a draw otherwise I see a 2-0 to them I'm afraid.
eastendfox Posted 27 April 2015 Posted 27 April 2015 Without wanting to write off our chances of winning the last time we beat the side that went on to be top-flight champions was in 1972. Keith Weller hat-trick against Liverpool...
Monsell1976 Posted 27 April 2015 Posted 27 April 2015 Me too. Can't bear the thought of him being back regularly starting games. Total liabilityLook awful Saturday, every time he went near the ball, I just waited for him to **** it up
Narborough_fox Posted 27 April 2015 Posted 27 April 2015 They'll be playing Drogba up front by the looks of things which could well play into our hands. They looked a lot more direct against Arsenal when he was up front and Huth, Was and Wes would be comfortable dealing with that. I'd rest Vardy given he's been taking pain killing injections recently, hopefully see someone come in for Konchesky because Willian or Caudrado's pace will really cause him problems. Expect them to play Ramires alongside Matic with Fabregas in behind Drogba so wouldn't mind us matching them up by playing 3 out and out central midfielders like we did against Burnley. If we play as well as we can we could get something out of it but I think with Vardy probably being rested Chelsea should have enough to win reasonably comfortable. 2-1 Chelsea, Kramaric with ours.

"I hope someone can come in for Konchesky"Is that just a general request because I could pick out someone in the the stand, 5mins before kick off, who could do a better job.
daddylonglegs Posted 27 April 2015 Posted 27 April 2015 Genuinely makes me cringe when people look at an U21 player and say 'yeah bring him up to the 1st team' like it's not even a big deal. Ben Chilwell plays under 18 football... there's no way he's ready yet. I'd play Kasper Huth Wes Was Albrighton Hammond King Mahrez Wood Kram Ulloa
Larry_LCFC Posted 27 April 2015 Posted 27 April 2015 If it were allowed, I would delete the Chelsea game and move straight onto Newcastle. That way our goal difference stays in tact, as does a win streak. Far more likely to carry it on against Newcastle. This Chelsea game is almost like an unwanted distraction that will tire the players

This Chelsea game is almost like an unwanted distraction that will tire the players Let's hope Liverpool beat Dull, then this game has even less relevance.. As long as we keep the goal difference the same we can make that up on Saturday as we play Newcastle and they have Arsenal!

Although konch has served us well in the past, I have to agree here. He's a liability at times and is no longer good enough. I never thought if say this but id much rather have Jeff in there.
st albans fox Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Wood's recall puts nuge and vardy's physical state into perspective. I doubt vardy will be played tomorrow and we know Leo doesn't seem fit enough to play three times in a week. Could see krama on his own up top in a similar set up to arsenal away. If we had a fully fit squad, I could Nigel being tempted to go for it but given that we are short up top, (and DD looked injured too on sat), I think a more pragmatic approach is likely. If Jeff is recovered then he will play left back/ wing back, otherwise Konchesky. Right side more likely RDL than MA.
filbertway Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 I'd start Ulloa. We're going to have to go long a lot of the time despite what the purists think. Probably, though I'd fancy Kasper to win more headers than Ulloa will.
ozleicester Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Changed my mind.. dont rest anyone, Chelsea are far from unbeatable and we need every point we can get. Maybe take a few off at 60 mins if there not a lot happening, but ti dont think we should ease up now, while weve got momentum.

narboroughblue Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Real tricky situation this. On one hand id love to see us go at Chelsea all guns blazing and full strength. Then on the other hand I think Cambiasso and Vardy probably need a break to be ready for Saturday and beyond. I wouldn't advocate wholesale changes but if those two were left out I'd understand completely. Maybe James and Kramaric in for EC and Vardy then hopefully Schlupp for Konchesky and we can still have a good go.

Foxhateram Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 I think avoiding a hiding is vital. Our goal difference could be the difference between survival and relegation. To nick it would be amazing though.

Ben Chilwell plays under 18 football... there's no way he's ready yet. Also there's every chance Ben Chilwell will never be good enough for the Premiership even when he's 27. Most England U19 players will spend their careers in the lower leagues and never make the grade at top level. These were the two England full backs ten years a go who started for England U19 in the first game in 2005. England went on to be runners up to France in the U19's Euro's that year as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Ifil http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Taylor_%28footballer,_born_1986%29

By saying this he's covering the club from those accusations, and any players that do miss out will be through 'injury' or 'squad rotation'. I still think the game tomorrow will see us play a weakened side
