Guest Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 You do, you kneel, kiss her hand and then recite this. Good old Andrew Neil having a right go about the national anthem on Daily Politics now Good old left wing presser! Isn't he an Aussie?
Guest Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Nigel Dodds Are they aware that SF are part of the govt now?
Guest Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Answered clearly? She asked him twice if he would sing it next time and he dodged the question. We are now being told by the party his comments are supposed to indicate he now will be singing it next time around. Why does it worry you so much whether he sings the song or not?
Wymsey Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 FFS. They'll complain about the colour of his underpants next.

Guest MattP Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Come on mate it's hardly surprising a Labour party member who backed Jeremy Corbyn is going to stick up for him is it?
sphericalfox Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Come on mate it's hardly surprising a Labour party member who backed Jeremy Corbyn is going to stick up for him is it? Sorry, I forgot this was the right wing only Corbyn bashing thread. My bad.
Carl the Llama Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 I think it's very sad how fixated a lot of posters are about being "team conservative toffs" vs "team loony lefties". It's not a fvcking football team.

Dr The Singh Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 I'm not a toff.He meant twat in your case.
Webbo Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 He meant twat in your case. That's alright then.
Captain... Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 To be honest I would be disappointed in him if he does now sing the anthem, he's been elected because he is a man of principle, he should be and act exactly how he is and not pander to the media and the warped expectations of what being a politician is. Politics and politicians need to take a good look at themselves and who and what they represent, hopefully Corbyn will be that mirror to the established Westminister elite. Secondly it is an appalling anthem and needs to be changed, maybe keep it as a royal anthem, but I would support all attempts to get a new national anthem.
Voll Blau Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Gi' it Jerusalem, proper rousing anthem. Though it is just about England. GSTQ is great for belting out if you're being a nobhead dropping tuppeny bits into pints of wank lager though. I reckon the Queen probably gets embarrassed about it being sung in her presence, must be like walking around having to hear strangers sing Happy Birthday to you every day of your life.
RobHawk Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Just makes me realise just how ****ing pointless our media are. I don't give 2 shits whether he sings the national anthem or not, and this isn't news. It's the most pathetic witch hunt ever. I agree with the captain too, he should stick to his guns and only sing it if he wants to, not because of the press! Some body was saying on the news this morning that he needs to hire a spin doctor and fast, but isn't his Lack of arse kissing, principled and straight approach the reason why he got voted in? Forget his politics and what he believes in, his top button was undone and he didn't sing god save the ****ing queen. Politics doesn't get more pathetic than this!
The Doctor Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Oh, I understand perfectly well. Obama sings because it is a national anthem, celebrating America; the Queen doesn't because it is not a national anthem, merely a eulogy to herself. So why would any Republican sing it? Or is not being an arse-licking, monarchist sycophant a crime now? Technically, yes. It's still considered treason and is an offence. It's an antiquated law that isn't enforced (Last conviction in 1879), but it's still actually illegal
davieG Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has told the BBC that he will not campaign for Britain to leave the EU. Mr Corbyn said that while policy was "developing" he could not foresee a situation where Labour would campaign for a "Brexit" under his leadership. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-34272334- Includes a video.

It's an antiquated law that isn't enforced (Last conviction in 1879), but it's still actually illegal At U.S. Sports it is technically an offence not to stand up with your hand on your heart when their shitty anthem is played, I never do that and never would, their anthem is a load of paranoid bollocks about people nicking flags. Old queenie doesn't need God, she's got plenty of money.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 The right are just getting desperate now

True , but reading a set of questions like Trisha the chat show host wasn't far off. It worked for a couple, but it was as boring as hell. If he wanted to show he wasn't crazy it worked, if he wanted to seem like a leader it failed spectacularly .I know the converted will say it was a breath of fresh air, but he isn't going to convert a few million by reading other people's questions and not challenging Cameron's answers

sphericalfox Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 How can you script replies if you don't know the question? The questions are sent in advance. Are you not aware of how it works?
Webbo Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 The questions are sent in advance. Are you not aware of how it works? From some MPs, sometimes not from the Leader of the opposition.
sphericalfox Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 From some MPs, sometimes not from the Leader of the opposition. PMs read virtually from the script in front of them. The team expect a series of questions on particular topics and the PM has crib notes in front of him for the leader of the opposition. Yes, the MPs questions are very much specifically put to the team in advance. My reply was muddled. Apologies.
