Fox Ulike Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 I don't actually think many of them were his fault Before Schmeichel was injured... his lack of ability to collect/punch anything left us right in shit alley, Morgan was having to dive all over to get blocks in when balls should have been cleared. Likewise the lack of our midfield's ability to track runs into the box, saw Morgan having to leave 'his' man and scramble across to cover opposition who someone else should have tracked. He's a had a couple of bad halfs of football, but considering the team's performance as a whole I think he's had a better season than most. Plus he must be the only player who hasn't had a break from first team action. Apart from a one-game suspension, he's played every league game plus 3 FA cup games, and so hasn't had a chance to 're-charge' like every other squad member. It's official. It's Wesley.

Jeez he's only 34. 34 isn't that old for a professional footballer. Giggs played til he was about 40 I think.
dmayne7 Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 I have to say that I've been a bit disappointed with James. I expected him to be the 1st choice out of the 4 from last year, so I was expecting him to before better. King has definitely been the pick of the 4 when he's played but James has looked reasonably solid. Think he needs to add more goals and a little steel to his play.

UpTheLeagueFox Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 Has to be Cambiasso. No-one ever mentions him, he flies under the radar every game......
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 Schlupp, considering he's a product of the academy and people tend to fall over themselves to praise mediocre academy players, can't understand why the best player we've produced in a while gets dogs abuse from all angles for any mistakes he makes, very few bother to take in to consideration he's adapting to a completely different position much later than most players would ever be asked to do so, and long may his fantastic contributions to the team continue.
Captain... Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 The fact that people are still slating him just shows how unsung he is despite the fact he is the highest ranked Leicester city player in the EA Sports Player Performance Index http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/players/ea-sports-player-performance-index.html?paramSearchTerm=¶mClubId=13¶mSeason=2014-2015¶mPosition=¶mEaBreakdownType=ACCUMULATIVE¶mGameWeek=1¶mItemsPerPage=20¶mSelectedPageIndex=1 Legend
nnfox Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 Ben Hamer deserves a mention - came in and did a job. 3 clean sheets in 8 games compared with 2 clean sheets in the 16 preceding games and then (harshly imo) dropped. Allbrighton has only been on the fringes for most of the season but despite that, once given his chance he has really stepped up - the guys attitude and professionalism is first class. Andy King is similar - does a job whenever called upon in what must have been a frustrating season for him personally. Was is a machine - has been all season and as for Wes - most improved? Maybe. He has really grown as a player during the second half of the season. Honestly though, my hat goes off to the whole squad. Whatever happens at the end of the season, this group of players are a real credit to the club. Joey Barton would love it here!
shen Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 King (IMO) hasn't put a foot wrong all season King is a difficult player to judge properly. He's obviously a bit lightweight, but he can make up for that with his excellent reading of the game and is usually determined and disciplined when chasing the ball. He hardly ever plays any telling passes (as highlighted by the 'chances created' stat), but falls under the clichéd "engine room" type of player. That is until he suddenly ghosts in and gets a goal like against West Ham and Swansea. In general though, I do not find he's able to impose himself on the game on his own. He needs a team that is performing well around him, otherwise he kind of gets bypassed by friend and foe alike. I think Ulloa deserves a lot more praise than he has gotten. Kramaric, Vardy and Nugent have not proven to be reliable goal scorers at this level and without Ulloa we might well be in the same predicament as Burnley. Yes, like all players in the team this season (bar Huth) he's had barren spells, but his form at the start/end of the season looks like it will be decisive in our fight to stay up. Wasilewski, he goes about his business quietly doesn't he? Quite ironic, given his "to-the-limit-and-oft-beyond" playing style. He's been as solid as I'd hoped Morgan would be before this season started. My vote would go to him as "unsung hero" because few expected he would be able to play at this level, being a year older and playing against much quicker forwards. He did not have the price tag of Ulloa over his head. Quite staggering to observe how Wasilewskis performances have more or less matched those he put in the Championship despite better opponents, whereas his competition Moore has been all over the shop. It stands in huge contrast to the Konchesky/Schlupp situation this season....
LCCFox96 Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 Ulloa's contribution in defending set pieces is another undervalued contribution he makes. He wins a lot of headers on that near post.
Captain... Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 Ulloa's contribution in defending set pieces is another undervalued contribution he makes. He wins a lot of headers on that near post. Ulloa is a funny one, his goals record is impressive but some of his displays have been anything but, I lost patience with him when he went through a period of games where the ball would just bounce off him, his control went to shit and knocking the ball up to him was just an exercise in giving away possession. He also tries to do too much at times like take people on when he shouldn't. He also inexplicably kept on finding himself on the wing, not sure if that is his fault or Pearson's, he put some good crosses in, but when he is our only aerial threat he should be in there. He has improved recently as he has gone back to basics, get the ball down, give it to someone else and get in the box, probably helped by the new formation giving him more options, but he will have to improve further if he wants to keep his place.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 Some of the touches by Ulloa are really impressive, can't remember the game but he did a drag back and back heel flick that took 2 players out the game and set our winger away. Also a Begkamp like turn against Southampton but he didn't quite get on the end of it.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 Howard was just as good (probably better) as a "target man" than Ulloa. The man was an absolute beast. Obviously Ulloa is 1 million times better at actually playing football but toss a long ball towards some centre backs and I'd rather have Howard in his prime with us competing for it than Ulloa. His hold up play was far more consistent than Ulloa's as well (albeit against far less competent defenders). This. Until Southampton I would categorise Ulloa as solely a finisher. Up until then I think his hold up play has not been good, contrary to what some have said. He's literally not been strong enough a lot of the time, he's been getting knocked off the ball far to easily, and often not even jumping for headers in these circumstances. Counter that with his performance against the Saints - I would argue his best performance of the season. Rather than standing flat footed, waiting for the ball to land on his head, as has been the norm, he watched the flight of the ball, ran towards it - ahead of the defender - took a running jump and won virtually everything that came his way. Hopefully it's been a confidence thing and he can keep this part of his game at that level. He has missed a few chances, but not many, and I do think his goal return is pretty decent.
Rushden fox Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 It has to be Hammond for holding the fort at the start of the season, especially when he didn't get a lookin last season
Grewks Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 I'd probably go Simpson a joke right? Watching him against villa in the cup led to memories of Kebe v Mcgivern flooding back.
Gerard Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Has to be Cambiasso. No-one ever mentions him, he flies under the radar every game...... Who is this Cambiasso you speak of?
