Rincewind Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 That film was not the one I thought it was. Never realised until another followed it. One is Lexit the other is Brexit.
johnny the fox Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 I didn't say you were you imbecile. I'm just baffled why you felt the need to tell everyone where the photo came from. It's information that has no baring on the referendum, it's just a completely pointless post, totally meaningless. That is your opinion and you are entitled to it...
johnny the fox Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 I'm just confused, and now he's trying to make out its very important to the referendum debate that we all know where this picture came from. It'd be nice if Johnny actually posted something of substance, rather than stupid post that say absolutely nothing other than the implication that he believes he's much smarter than you. I'm happy to discuss the referendum, I'm not the one trying to make out the source of a picture is important to that. I'm just asking why, and he's not answering. I posted the Lexit movie.. perhaps that is more to sir's liking..
Jimothy Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 That is your opinion and you are entitled to it... So what baring does the source have on the referendum? It's a simple question, you seem adamant it's very important for all to know the source because of the referendum, so answer the very simple question please. I've gave you my opinion, but once again for the umpteenth time you don't seem very forthcoming with yours, just posting idiotic cryptic nothing posts instead.

Thracian Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 i'm not here to personally inform you of anything..please make your'e own mind up .. and i don't think you speak for everybody on here unless you think you do. He thought he could speak for me!
Jimothy Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 He thought he could speak for me! I wouldn't waste my time on you tbh.
Thracian Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 I wouldn't waste my time on you tbh. Even that's not the truth.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 For what it's worth, the photo used was taken by Jeff Mitchell with Getty Images holding the rights. It's an image that was used by several publications at the time.

My view has been very well aired on this thread.. i have been branded a thinly veiled bigot and racist for sharing it... I believe in democracy, its a precious thing that has been passed down by previous generations who as in my families case have fought and died for it....Any dilution of it is the thin end of a very long wedge that will end who knows where if we remain in a EU super state..We are but custodians of our freedom and democracy and we have a duty to pass it on in the same condition as we found it.... once it is gone it usually takes the shedding of blood to get it back...that is why i'm for leave...this is what I think ok?

StanSP Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 if the results are very close, say 51% Leave and 49% Remain, does the PM have to go ahead with the exit from the EU? Can he 'over-rule' if there's such a closeness in the results? Is there a tolerance?

Can he 'over-rule' if there's such a closeness in the results? Is there a tolerance? It's not legally binding but it'd be a brave parliament that went against the result. What some of the papers are saying is that there are so many remain MPs they could make the negotiation so that we're practically still in, same contributions, free movement etc that we're practically still in if not exactly.

Thracian Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Isn't this the nation Cameron would greet with open arms? ://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-36570890. If Erdogan's as keen to clamp down on all opposition as they say, I can imagine him keeping busy!

So how would the MPs equate that with a fair referendum? Treacherous self-servers. I suppose they'd also believe England should lift the European Championship trophy if they lost the final 1-0.
Foxxed Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 A Brexit campaign has drawn similarities to a worrying previous campaign. And Farage is on video talking about things leading to violence due to migration, seemingly taking a page out of another playbook. The recent violence against a "traitor" is almost definitely a fringe lunatic. But since he and others are stirring up worries and hatred--whether we exit or remain--this obviously needs to be quelled. I'm not sure if Brexit will give confidence or quieten people on the fringe. But, apart from economic isolationism and a decrease in international economic leverage, this is definitely one of my main concerns.

You do realise that the article that you have attached is trying to compare a democratic referendum and a war-time news reel showing displaced refugees by the NSDAP. It's obviously a biased report as if they had wanted to they could have used a similar news reel but on the western allied side which would be far lees controversial. It's not even subtle suggesing that a leave vote, would be similar to voting for a fourth reich? When in reality currently we are involved in a political union centred by Germany 75 years after that photo was taken. Its hysterical politics that should not be given credence especially given the fact that a politician was slain last week, potentially due to this kind of rhetoric.
Webbo Posted 20 June 2016 Posted 20 June 2016 There seems to be a last minute swing back to remain, just like in the Scottish referendum. Project fear has done its job.
Jimothy Posted 20 June 2016 Posted 20 June 2016 There seems to be a last minute swing back to remain, just like in the Scottish referendum. Project fear has done its job. I don't think it's anything to do with "project fear", both campaigns have been as bad as each other anyway. Generally these referendums swing towards the status quo in the final days. I'm sure I read the Swiss had quite a lot of referendums in the past decade or so and most have gone with the status quo.
