Babylon Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Why? He took over at Villa who seemed to be going down and has led them to an FA Cup final. Because he's a massive sh1t. This is the table since he joined Villa...
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Why? He took over at Villa who seemed to be going down and has led them to an FA Cup final. He's a twat that's why. Suppose he's done alright and getting to the final is pretty good going, but he hasn't worked miracles - he's put a capable team back in the safe zone where they should have been all along. It wasn't a masterstroke, and they're still below us in the league (us with arguably still a very much "Championship" standard squad)
Fox92 Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I don't mind Sherwood and I think he's done two decent jobs now at Spurs and Villa.
Haydos Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Why? He's completely transformed Villa's season, got them to a cup final, and got Benteke back to his best. They're effectively 3 points better off than they were when he took over. Ridiculous love in for him.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I don't mind Sherwood and I think he's done two decent jobs now at Spurs and Villa. Decent, fair enough. Not manager of the season though, the 6-1 defeat to Southampton should immediately disqualify him for contention.
cc_star Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 No, not been consistent enough. However, he's one of a select few who's hit their target for the season
Guest Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I love NP but he's not MOTS by a long way. Manager of the last few weeks maybe (for which he has the April award).
fuchsntf Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 For me yes he should. With everything thats happened over the season though i doubt he will get it. I think Monk will win itI reckon Monk is a good choice, but he took over a Premiership team, with proven PL players.Alan Pardew, moved Newcastle well up the PL table and saved CPs season, again with Known PL players. Pullis, did what Pullis does, but again with experienced PL players. Morinho, best manager this season because he won the League, but again with a golden pot of players. Pearson, ..Had his team playing hot and cold, with some cracker of games, and some abysmal displays, but with New boys to the PL.Other clubs used injuries has excuses.Pearson never, though our 1st 3-4 months our best players were injured, and played with knocks.Other group of players in teams, by Feb would have rolled up and died. Pearson kept and gave belief in and through the whole squad. No heads fell.. Whatsoever.. He had a team that looked ready to fall off the end of the world. He then came up with an idea and then 1st benched our best considered attacking player(mahrez). Moresoever he had fans starting to believe, he got a them n us theme going, Mainly having himself the blunt of attacks, and ridicule... What ever it was, the miniscule whys and wherefors worked.with 1 game dont forget, against season long relegation rival not needed. Our run of top form equalled everything top teams across Europe could muster. Now you clever dicks, all you pundits of football rhetoric, and Sunday supplement pundits I am taking all my 60yrs, turn it around to put my.. like a spoilt child. stamp my feet, now tell me I cant have an ice cream hat on and say... This Great Escape this Nigel Pearson was the performance of any known season seen in the last 10yrs. The winner by a wide margin, ladies and gentlemam, Mr Sacky, Ostrich loving, hound nemisis, NEVER lie down n die ....... Manager of the Season your own very own............ >>> MR NIGEL foxy PEARSON <<<<<<<....... The only Stadium rocker around.
Danno Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Decent, fair enough. Not manager of the season though, the 6-1 defeat to Southampton should immediately disqualify him for contention.Even though Spurs put 5 past Chelsea though?
Benji Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Nar, correctly won MotM for April but the season goes to Koeman for me. Predicted by many to fight relegation at the beginning of the season.
Guest LCFC_World Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Yes he should win it. He has provided plenty of entertainment throughout the whole season for the general public.
Tom's Pasta Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 If our season was the other way round, ie we got off to a flyer winning 6 out of 8 then we couldn't buy a win but marginally stayed up then he wouldn't even be in the running for MOTY. He's the manager of the last two months but not the manager of the year.
Blue Peter Posted 18 May 2015 Author Posted 18 May 2015 Great response to my first ever thread (which I thought wouldn't get much attention!). Certainly ruffled a few feathers out there! Pearson is Marmite, through and through!! Thanks all and keep the posts coming!
Monk Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 No, it's a great achievement to survive, but we were dog for large parts of the season and he hasn't exactly conducted himself in a way that you'd win such an award... although I have enjoyed him rinsing the journos.

NotTheMarketLeader Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 No. Despite the amazingly wonderful run we are STILL on - WBA lose, and we beat QPR we finish 13th I believe. I like Nige, but my view before the season started was that we had a team from last year which with a few additions, would be better than at least three others in the division. Having for much of the season, looked like a **** for saying this, the last six weeks has born that out. My argument, during a season where I have been nothing short of scathing of Pearson at times, has been that we should not have never been in the mess we were in, considering our resources and the team we were last season. Anyway thanks to a massive effort from all concerned, all is forgiven now, and we will finish where we should have finished imo. Nige is definitely manager of the last qtr, but not of the whole season. As some people have said we hardly won any games for 2/3rds of a season.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Why? He's completely transformed Villa's season, got them to a cup final, and got Benteke back to his best. Sherwood - he's done ok but over 12 week period not a season. Don't forget we showed him the way to Wembley with an absolute disgrace of a performance in a game we should have been 'eyeballs out' to win, but handed it to them with a whimper. Not Nige's finest hour.

Don't forget we showed him the way to Wembley with an absolute disgrace of a performance in a game we should have been 'eyeballs out' to win, but handed it to them with a whimper. Not Nige's finest hour. He's barely even done okay. Considering how shit Villa were I'd expect him to be doing better. They're effectively 4 points better off than they were when he was appointed.
Stadt Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I think he'd be in with a better shout if he'd have guided us to 13th without really being involved in a relegation scrap
Steven Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 They're effectively 3 points better off than they were when he took over. Ridiculous love in for him. He is a diamond geezer. He is the next 'Arry.
ScouseFox Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I'm struggling to see the koeman love. They're one point better off than last year aren't they? And their 2015 form is pathetic. If you're saying no to Nigel cos we were crap then turned good, surely you're saying no to koeman cos they were good then turned very crap. Look at that table babs posted starting mid feb. they're 15th! for about a third of the season. 4 wins since February! Manager of the season.

Number 6 Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Think Nigel should certainly be considered in a group of about 4 or 5. Wouldn't have him winning though. If we beat QPR then I think he might get the May MOTM. My vote would go to Monk. First full season in management and they have a record points tally. Lost Bony on Jan too. Wouldn't mind if any of Monk, Koemann, Mourinho, Pearson or Pardew won it.
