Dan Posted 24 September 2015 Posted 24 September 2015 you're mental Thanks for that Mr Crystal Ball. Both conceivable. Both shambolic clubs. I'll take that at 50/1.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 24 September 2015 Posted 24 September 2015 Thanks for that Mr Crystal Ball. Both conceivable. Both shambolic clubs. I'll take that at 50/1. Newcastle I get, but Cardiff getting relegated rather than dross like Rotherham,MK Dons .etc. you'd have to be mental.
Soar Fox Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Newcastle I get, but Cardiff getting relegated rather than dross like Rotherham,MK Dons .etc. you'd have to be mental. Who would have thought Wigan would have got relegated a season after finishing 5th.
davieG Posted 25 September 2015 Author Posted 25 September 2015 Who would have thought Wigan would have got relegated a season after finishing 5th. ..... and shows what a meaningless statement "wait until we're an established PL team" is.

Guest ttfn Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 To put our start in to some sort of context I had a look back over the past 8 premier league seasons to see what impact having a start like ours had on a team's season. First thing to note is that over those 8 years no team has got relegated having had more than 9 points from their first 6 matches. That would certainly suggest that whilst myself and I believe most fans still have a 40-point target at the front of our minds, this is certainly a pessimistic view given that relegation after gaining 12 points from 6 matches would be a massive statistical outlier. Typically the highest amount of points by one of the relegated three sides after 6 games is 7 points but in 2012/13 each of Wigan, QPR and Reading managed to have 4 points or fewer at this stage. Secondly over those 8 seasons, 30 teams have got 12 points or more after 6 games. Of those 30 teams only 4 finished outside the top 6 (Southampton 2014/15 - 7th, Liverpool 2009/10 - 7th, West Ham 2008/9 - 9th and Man City 2007/8 - 9th). This suggests that the non-established teams do tend to fall away somewhat as the season progresses (no surprise) but retain a top-half position nevertheless. Personally I've still got my sights set on 40 points, hopefully 42 to improve on last season and possibly a cup run, but recent history suggests that looking at it a bit more objectively we should be aiming for the top half after a start like this.
MC Prussian Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Score Predictions for tomorrow- Tottenham v Man City- 0-1 Leicester v Arsenal- 1-2 Liverpool v Aston Villa- 1-3 Man Utd v Sunderland- 1-0 Southampton v Swansea- 1-2 Stoke City v Bournemouth- 1-0 West Ham v Norwich- 0-0 Newcastle v Chelsea- 0-2 I like your optimism (clouded by your loyalty to Villa), but a) I can see us getting a result against Arsenal (a draw would already be a huge success and an improvement over last season) b) No way are Aston Villa going to beat Liverpool at Anfield 3-1; it's a game that has draw written all over it with two out-of-form teams matching up Manchester United will win by more than just one goal difference and following the input from my left leg, Southampton manage at least a point against Swansea.
MrSpaM Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Wally has got until the Sunderland game, if they lose that he's off
SpacedX Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 I actually think it's pathetic management/ leadership to be honest. Not quite Carver level I don't think but to admit you're in the **** so openly is pretty ridiculous. They have to be in one of the three relegation slots with him in charge.

Dan Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Newcastle I get, but Cardiff getting relegated rather than dross like Rotherham,MK Dons .etc. you'd have to be mental. Steve Walsh said it. It's unlikely but I wasn't turning it down at those odds. They've faltered a bit recently as well including a loss at Rotherham.
Wymsey Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Newcastle apologise to fans. http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20150925/md-were-taking-collective-action_2281670_5026588 Think the talking should be on the pitch.
Dan Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Kane's doing his best to prove his doubters right. The usual reactionary media will be laying into him but truth be told he was always somewhere in-between where he was last season and what he's doing this year. Certainly not England's saviour, nor is he shit. I will be very surprised if Man City don't win the league this year.
lgfualol Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Kane finally scores. Prepare for a media bum-licking.
FireFox Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 and Kane scores... 3-1 Manchester City in crisis? Title race back on?
Carl the Llama Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Cue media jizzstorm over Harry Kane scoring an open goal. This could be good for us though, a chance to claw some points back on Man City.
FireFox Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Cue media jizzstorm over Harry Kane scoring an open goal. "Look at that finish! It was a good strike, a great goal. That's a difficult skill to have, to hit the ball on the half volley."
Jimothy Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Cue media jizzstorm over Harry Kane scoring an open goal. This could be good for us though, a chance to claw some points back on Man City. I was just listening to a bit on 5Live while I was driving, and when Spurs scored their second the reaction to praise Kane for winning a bloody free kick was ridiculous. It was like they had to point out that they're not crazy for claiming he's amazing despite the fact he hadn't at that point scored since March because he's done something, even though that something was just to be kick by somebody. And I've just seen his goal and I swear he's tried his hardest to miss it
