Last year Van Gaal seemed to spend a hell of a lot of money improving the midfield, which was fine as that was what was needed, but totally ignored the defence and attack. This year he's hardly improved the back line bar signing a right back. He's also lost two of his main strikers and not really brought anyone in, but has again spent a lot of money on midfielders and wingers again. No team that's spent over a quarter of a billion in a year should be starting Daley Blind at centre back.

There's plenty better at left wing or behind the striker outside the top 4. imagine thinking this. there's probably not many if any better in the top four than riyad let alone outside it
