Stadt Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 I thought Ritchie was overrated but he got 15 goals and 17 assists last season
MC Prussian Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Arsenal's Jack Wilshere ruled out for up to eight weeks due to a hairline fracture: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/33801783
Dan Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 The likes of Coutinho, Chadli, Ayew at Swansea, Mirallas, Mane. I never actually said Ritchie was better than Mahrez either. I honestly wouldn't trade him for Chadli. Coutinho I agree. Ayew's unknown for me. Mane fair enough. Mirallas... probably edges it but isn't he a bit older? Arsenal's Jack Wilshere ruled out for up to eight weeks due to a hairline fracture: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/33801783 Shock. Horror. Best midfielder England produce in a long time and he's a crock. Absolutely typical.
MC Prussian Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Meanwhile, Newcastle sign a Cobblers striker, Ivan Toney, for an undisclosed fee: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/33801661 And Yann M'Vila now definitely joins Sunderland on a season-long loan from Rubin Kazan: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33802767
Super_horns Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 I don't mind us being predicted to go down at all as its understandable but I think we do have a chance if the new players that do play can fit into the side fairly well and quickly. I guess that is our main issue.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Think you'll do the best out of the three coming up
Wymsey Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Hope Watford struggle. Their team stinks of what PL teams shouldn't be doing, having a squad with a lack of quality English players (barring Deeney).

For example, last summer they signed Ighalo on a season long loan from Udinese. Then in October, they terminated the loan, Udinese released him from his contract and Watford signed him permanently I'd love for them to go down.
Guest ttfn Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Hope Watford struggle. I'd be surprised if we lined up on Saturday with more than 2 England-qualified players in the XI and possibly only 1 more on the bench.

Fox Ulike Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 what you mean like all of the successful clubs do Yeah but most of the successful clubs pay for their players fair and square. 13 of Watford's players have played for Udinese or Granada. A lot of fans see Watford as having an unfair advantage because of their access to two other squads from Serie A and La Liga.

jammie82uk Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 well they also pay for them fair and square, they're just lucky to have owners who have fingers in many pies. But they are paying themselves to trade players so they are effectively moving for free
Super_horns Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 well they also pay for them fair and square, they're just lucky to have owners who have fingers in many pies. Fair points made but we have certainly scouted the European market this summer!
AyewJoking Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 We're like a benefits family shopping at marks and spencer. Weve got the money but no one will serve us!
Dan Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Hope Watford struggle. Their team stinks of what PL teams shouldn't be doing, having a squad with a lack of quality English players (barring Deeney). I'd point the finger at England before Watford. It's pretty obvious that investing in English players nowadays doesn't bring the value that it once did. I'd rather there were more English players in the top flight but the standard of them compared to the price you'll pay just leads to shopping abroad. You pay for a French forward of Deeney's level you're probably looking at £6mil. You go for Deeney himself you'll be asked for at least double that. It'll only get better when there is a concerted effort to sort out the national side, which will come from better production of players from clubs in this country.
Corky Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Hope Watford struggle. Their team stinks of what PL teams shouldn't be doing, having a squad with a lack of quality English players (barring Deeney). We've signed five players and none of them are English. It's a global game.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Burnley were an example of a side with mass intake of English "talent", a disgusting football team of which the league is better off without.
Stadt Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Critics also say we're going down because we've lost one player.
Corky Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 But national football suffers from it, critics say. How does Watford not signing a few English players affect the national team? It's a convenient excuse that a foreign invasion is to blame for England not winning tournaments.
Leeds Fox Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 I'd be surprised if we lined up on Saturday with more than 2 England-qualified players in the XI and possibly only 1 more on the bench. England-qualified players doesn't mean English players though does it? Andy King isn't Welsh and Wes didn't become Jamaican aged 29. You're making our situation sound worse than it is in that respect.
The Bear Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 I also think Watford could be the surprise package this season of the three promoted teams. Especially if their team gels quickly.
