Arsenal really do look clueless without Sanchez, and Giroud is such a bang average striker!

Tottally agree, he is shit for a top 4 club trying to win the league, just one dimentional.

Arsenal are just trying to pass it into the net with 10 men behind the ball, hard to watch.

Surely now Arsenal just need to throw as much as is needed to land Benzema.

And they could have done a lot worse than try and get Dzeko before he went Roma.

Still top of the league... Was worried Arsenal were gonna take it before this started... was worried West Ham were by the end.

So it's going to be a slow start for Arsenal then, surprising good start for West Ham and Billic. But Arsenal looked so poor this afternoon. Going to be interesting game next week for the foxes.

West Ham were excellent, should be a cracking game next week between two very confident sides.

they won't be confident of anything after 20 mins playing against us

imagine thinking this. there's probably not many if any better in the top four than riyad let alone outside it

Still way over the top even after yesterday. Ranieri looks like he could go pretty attacking. However it was Sunderland at home who looked garbage defensively. Too early to say still. I'd back Riyad to beat his 4 goals from last season now though ;)

lmao Smalling's voice. Is it real?

I laughed when I heard it too.

Well this has been shit, might as well just give us the title and Mahrez player of the season rather than carrying on with the pretence of competition for 9 months

this is painfully boring. can't believe we waited ten weeks to get super sundays back. rather spend the rest of my life watching songs of praise than watching this

trust me if you watched him every minute of every week you'd understand too, maybe when he joins arsenal/chelsea/bayern munich/psg in a year or two and you get to see him play a lot more you'll come back and agree after realising what a talent he is.

I thought people said West Ham were mad to field a weakened side in Europe? Well there you go..... Far from ' never gonna win anyway', they won...

The Stoke v Liverpool game is shockingly boring.

yeah so they've beaten arsenal, and if they can get a few more surprise results this season and play at this level all season they might just finish 7th in the league. which qualifies them for... the europa league. which they'll play a weakened team in and probably get knocked out early of, so it doesn't affect their prem season, which gives them a chance to qualify for... the europa league...? and repeat forever?

It was mad because they got themselves dumped out of a major competition at an extremely easy stage. Now they can't do something special in a tournament that they'll rarely get to play in.

I really dislike the the anti-competition mentality. It seems ridiculous to me that some people would trade an opportunity to go far in a European competition for a few places in the league.

I'm not disagreeing about Europe Scouse. As you say, there's no point in getting into it, to crash out of it. But people were SURE it didn't matter because they were going to lose to the Arsenal whatever.

Of course, that didn't happen and therefore, if Bilic decided to let Europe go, to be able to win today, he got that spot on. Today.

yeah I get that and on the basis of today it was a half decent idea. but the point remains that there is no point in focussing on doing well in the league, because the best, wildest dreams that a West Ham could have for their league season is to sneak the last europa league spot. and clearly they don't want to be in the europa league?

big teams rest players in europe so they can win the premier league or qualify for the champions league. teams like West Ham being handed a freebie entry into europe should be all over that and use it as a way to a) enjoy the season more than just finishing mid table, again, and b) as a way to introduce themselves back into the european scene again.

but they didn't so now all they have to look forward to is 11th place and maybe another win over a big team for the next two or three years. good job.

I'm not sure bigger clubs do want to play in the Europa league do they?

Genuinely, it's pretty much a joke competition. Rightly or wrongly, I'd not be surprised if Bilic didn't care two titties about going out of the competition. In fact, he's probably relieved.

It's probably different for the fans. We all love our Europe trips, whatever the competition. But what the fans want and what clubs want aren't always the same.

I know we all talk about 'getting into Europe' as if it's some sort of big reward for a long and hard season. But for the clubs, I'd suggest the prize money they collect for finishing 6th is a bigger incentive that having to play away at Astra Giurgiu on a Thursday night before your big, opening game of the season away at a London rival.
