A £25 million player would be aiming to join a top-six club; it's very rare (even in today's 'moneybags' market) that a £25m player is at a club that is not reaching for the higher upper tier.

Vardy has one asset that is metaphorically priceless to a manager .... attitude.

He's exactly the kind of guy you'd want beside you in a crisis as he's adequately demonstrated during the closing chapters of our Great Escape. As such, he's one of the last players I'd want to sell but rather I'd perhaps want to carry a video around to show all my potential signings as an example of the kind of commitment I'd like and expect off everyone.

People talk about finding a replacement as if half the great clubs of the world can't wait to fire-sale their best strikers. They don't and £15m can as easily be squandered as wisely invested when it comes to goalscorers.

Another thing is that Vardy seems to be a late developer. He took time to settle in the Championship, time to settle in the Premiership but he gets there in the end as his recent England cap shows.

I'd like to see how Vardy fares with a Premiership season behind him. with all the nerves gone and with the psyche that says "I've proved I can cope now I'll prove I can shine." I don't mind us signing additional fire-power but you can keep the £15million for a bloke who gives 100% effort and never gives defenders a moment's peace. I'd love him in a team of mine and am pretty sure Pearson feels the same way.

Vardey isn't going anywhere. All of this speculation is just press talk. I'm sure Vardy and more importantly Nige aren't interested at all.

Vardy IS irreplaceable, he is a unique player vital to the way we play.

 

Sure we could get a couple of Ulloas for £15m, but even if that guaranteed us more goals, we wouldn't be able to replace his tireless running and movement off the ball as well. I'd rather keep that than have 2 players who can score but need things served up for them.

 

We need to be improving and that means you don't get rid of your best players, you add to the squad with different types of players. Hence why I think it's bizarre that people would cash in on a player like Vardy, who excels in certain areas that other strikers we have don't.

We don't need to sell players to spend money anyway, so the argument that '£15 million will buy us several players' is redundant.

Vardy, the rich man's Paul Dickov!!!  If you think about it very similar types of players.  Vardy is a smarter version of Dickov, neither are goal scoring machines as forwards but hard working running  determined players.  Not many of these types around.  He is an important piece of our attacking puzzle.  That he now has the recognition to be called up to the England squad says a lot about the value placed on his work rate, not his goal scoring. I hope this is just paper talk, as he should remain a fixture of this side for a long time.  I also think the goals will come more in the coming years.

I would be very surprised if we sold him for 15 million.

We wouldn't be able to find a suitable replacement for the team.

As someone said before, he is the type of player that sets the benchmark for how hard you should work in this Leicester side and I believe if it wasn't for him (along with a couple others) we wouldn't have stayed up last season.

Jamie can do the same with his attitude and work rate

Players feed off it. Hard to replace that.

To us...pretty priceless how he played towards the end of last season.

The goal v Brom was the catalyst for us to survive. And as such, it was worth so much more than 10 million quid.

15 million is not enough for me, there's no replacing his speed and workrate. A lot of players are quick but rarely do you find a player who has the commitment that Vardy does for a full 90 minutes. I would rather him play for us than be in a team running at our defence.

I wouldn't sell him under any circumstances other than him demanding a move.  I doubt very much he would do that unless a top 4 or 5 club came in for him, then it would be a case of wishing him all the best, as he would have earned it.  He isn't there yet, but he could be in a year or two.

 

The owners simply need to look at the value of staying in the league - take out any of the pieces of the puzzle and you put that at risk.

Can't see the Dikov comparison, I mean they both work hard all game but Vardy has the pace to beat players with and score or slot a good cross into the box, Dikov on the other hand was just a wee Pest in and around the box.

So true. Vardy may not have scored many last season, but whenever I replay that goal at w brom I think "wow". The goal was pure class, and if you try to imagine another prem player who could have scored a goal like that, it's hard to find one. And didn't he score that after running himself into the ground for 90 minutes?

Not having that, they both shared similarities but Dickov was a better finisher, he spent much of his career in the top flight not just one year. I love Vardy and hope he continues in the same way as last season.

Because I can Just imagine Dikov scoring the goals that Vardy has scored this season, they are carbon copies not to mention Dikov was 5ft 6" and no where near as quick as vardy

I think one reason he has endeared himself to alot of the fans is because he is a grafter... 5 goals really isnt the best return for a striker... I'll definitely be looking for him to push on from last season. Yes he works hard... yes he got some assists, yes he chased down defenders.... but 5 goals just isnt enough for me.... If he can double that this coming season then he'll be playing  a full role in the team. I'm very aware he got an England call up but what and who were the alternatives?

I couldn't believe what I was reading yesterday regarding the new Jamie Mackie, Jamie Vardy, joining Villa.

First off the price, £15million would be atrocious business from Villa. Then to see the responses from the Leicester fans saying they wouldn't sell him for that?! Are you mental?

I don't know who would be stupider in that deal: Villa for 'offering' it or Leicester if they turn it down. And then to read some fans saying 'why would he want to take a step down and join Villa?' Christ I almost fell off my chair!

Not necessarily. Not all strikers are prolific goalscorers. Some are essentially midfielders who happen to play up front. I suppose they should be referred to as forwards to be tecnically correct.

I'd keep picking Vardy if he did what he did and never scored.
