ChrisWoodIsClass Posted 14 June 2015 Posted 14 June 2015 Don't get me wrong 15 mil for vardy is silly money, but I wouldn't sell him because realistically who could we possibly buy who has the same attributes as jamie i can't think of too many and when you consider how much some players cost nowadays e.g soldado 25 mil then that price fr vardy doesnt even seem too unreasonable

I'd prefer them to be here. We don't need the money. He shouldn't make a sideways move but if they offer him a big increase in wages, would be tough for him to ignore.
katieakita Posted 14 June 2015 Posted 14 June 2015 From Villa's point of view and certainly the media darlings Sherwood he looks to have been found out, a one trick pony and a honeymoon period over. Remember he came in with a fanfare and was going to keep Villa in the premiership and do this and that, well he kept them up and got them to a cup final happy days. In the cold light of day their season finished when they beat a poor Liverpool side and they also managed to turn over Sunderland at the SOL and battled to a win at No Heart Lane against Spurs. The reality is they stayed up as Hull imploded and their FA cup final performance was shocking, Arsenal were good they were awful and Arsenal could and should have scored a few more. Villa look to be losing their only goal threat the heart of their defence wants out and have already lost main midfielder with also talks of Delph wanting out. Villa need to replace Benteke and for all his abilities Jamie Vardy is not a replacement for Benteke, the obvious one is Charlie Austin goalscorer for goalscorer now that Ings has gone to Liverpool. Newspapers need football stories to sell, with few games being played the rumour mill is working overtime and for them any news is good news.

We need the spirit of Vardy among other things. I'm sure the club understands this and will genuinely focus on improving our squad rather than reducing the engine capacity. Vardy is an example and inspiration. I can't imagine £15m would tempt us.

We are in the strongest position on the pitch and financially that we have been for a long, long time. We don't have any need to sell our best and most influential players now.

However, with him being vital to our entire philosophy and style of play, he is more than worthy of a £15 million price tag. Who would we replace him for? How much would that cost? If he is going to be key to our season next year then we better be searching for a replacement now because he isn't a spring chicken. We don't want to be caught out. He won't be sold this summer.

Sherwood managed to stabilise them after the sinking ship that was Lambert's reign but the cracks are showing again, they ended finishing 17th and got pretty much destroyed in the Cup Final. They've already lost a key component to Everton in Cleverly and if they were to lose Benteke then it they'd be in a situation that Vardy's workrate alone won't solve. We've got the momentum of all the clubs at that end of the table and other than the token newly promoted team I can see us getting off to a good start next year. Better off staying here and challenging for something more than survival,
Lestoh Posted 14 June 2015 Posted 14 June 2015 £15m would be an incredible offer, but the problem we have is using that money. We'd struggle to attract better players to replace him. £7m is ridiculous. Stoke is the only team out of that lot that'd be an upgrade for Vardy, but I can't see it happening.
