But even then it doesnt say we have been beaten to the signing.... if you read the article it just means that West Ham have agreed a fee. Thats all.

However he would be crazy to go there whilst not knowing who the manager will be and what style of play he'll want, ect ect

Who? Sebastien Prodl? A player who has signed for Watford! If we were interested (which I doubt we were), he would have signed for us unless Watford are paying him stupid money in which case I'm glad we haven't signed him. I'd rather have a player motivated by footballing reasons then a player motivated by money.

The 5 year contract offer would have helped too.

That is if you were interested.

We've been linked to about 20 different players already!

They joys of being a newly promoted team!

Not really just trying to wind up Watford fans but I highly doubt Prodl would have been anything more than this season's Upson for us. A supporting squad player, taken because he's free.

That's if we were even interested. Realistically, most the bottom half prem teams probably had a word with his agent to see what his demands are.

Last year we did miss out on targets, Cresswell, Sakho, Pellé etc but it was probably down to Robinson fannying about so I doubt we'll have the same problems

That sounds familiar, players get linked to random clubs by agents to be used as bargaining tools in the contract negotiation process. I highly doubt many of those links to Watford are genuine due to your manager situation, unless your board deal with transfers. I'm not entirely sure how Watford operate their transfer policy.

Those three all ended up with established Premier League clubs as well as opposed to a club that was most likely going to be in a relegation battle of some form.

I'd say at the minute we're probably on a par with Palace, West Brom & Villa for pulling power.

A lot of players we get linked with will be because their agent is using our club when trying to generate interest. I suspect that might have been the case with Prodl.

all got better offers, too. not a lot anyone behind or in front of the scenes can do if a better club comes along and offers more money to the selling club and a better wage to the player.
