Just out of interest are people saying no to Barton because of his off the field issues or because they have a misguided notion that he's not a good footballer?

He's not had first team football and I think he'll take at least a season to get close to the player he was, assuming he can get there Jon Guidetti has so much potential and would give us another option up top and I've always been a fan of Jonas Gutierrez

Barton, would be a great addition to the squad, when was the last time he caused any upset in a dressing room? I cant remember him doing it for a while. Diaby would be a gamble but a gamble worth taking as long as he's either on small wages or pay as you play. Richards, would be class as long as he can get his form back
