Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 Amazon have Karcher pressure washer for £59That's just a hose that you have to shove your thumb in the opening to give it the added pressureVacamion - where are you paying much more than £5 for fish n chips? It seems to almost always be £5 or thereabouts Mini Milk, you are 20p not 50p. Freddo went up in small increments, 10p (or 15p for the Taz with caramel), 12p, 15p and so on. Mini Milk was 20p for about 300 years then one day some bastard thought "right now these chumps are hooked, BANG IT UP TO FIFTY." And now I'm priced out of the market
Jon the Hat Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 It does not matter to some men. Their mrs' would still max their credit cards on shoes. Have you always been a misogynist Ken or did it come to you later in life?
AKCJ Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 We already do decide what we'd like to pay for items. If we decide an item is too expensive (said item never gets bought) then the companies will bring the price down. If we decide an item is too cheap (said item doesn't last 5 minutes on the shelves) then they'll raise the price.
Rincewind Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 Not always. If an item is popular then the price is considered too low so the price is raised. If an item is not selling it is considered badly branded so the words 'New and Exclusive' is added and sold at a higher price. There is always more than one way of looking at things.
MooseBreath Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 Flats/Apartments You don't even own any land. It's four walls, a floor and a ceiling. Hundred and fifty grand are you having a laugh. I'll pay twenty grand and expect a new lick of paint as well especially in the bedroom you filthy old bag.
MPH Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 I'd pay 20 quid for some Maryland chicken right about now...
Rincewind Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 You cannot put a price on compassion either giving or receiving.
Carl the Llama Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 You cannot put a price on compassion either giving or receiving. Pretty sure they do down by the train station though.
purpleronnie Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 He meant the future is everyone for themselves, sod everyone else.
MooseBreath Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 He meant the future is everyone for themselves, sod everyone else. That's literally the only alternative to socialism.
Finnegan Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 **** socialism, **** currency, **** wealth. I don't want to pay for anything, we should just all trade what we can do and build with everyone else and stop trying to value everything. Simple enough.
Strokes Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 **** socialism, **** currency, **** wealth. I don't want to pay for anything, we should just all trade what we can do and build with everyone else and stop trying to value everything. Simple enough. Sounds a bit like communism.
Finnegan Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 No it doesn't. Communism involves a state controlled currency. What I just described is the fundamental basics of anarchy. Often misunderstood, anarchy is actually the most humanist, socially conscious, utopian philosophy going. Sadly, as a result, it's also completely useless outside of fantasy. We can all dream though.
MooseBreath Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 You'd soon start using currency again though in some form once you realised the limitations of swapping services.
Finnegan Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Well yes, most likely, hence A. why it's a utopian fantasy not a practical solution and B. we developed currency universally in the first place. Anarchism only really works in isolated communes with small enough populations that nothing of real value is produced or traded for anyway Nice idea, though, unless you're a rampant misanthrope.
Captain... Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 The question is how often do you pay more than you think something is worth and why? Football tickets I get, it isn't really a choice even if they are massively overpeiced, but you don't then need to buy the shirt every season, if you think they are overpriced don't buy it. Save yourself £50. Everything is overpriced these days which is why you can always buy it half price at some point, usually when the new model comes out/is coming out or there is a bank holiday sale, combine that with using cash back sites and reward cards and you can soon get the price down. By the way the correct answer is train journeys, fvcking scandalous. Should be £20 London to Leicester.
ScouseFox Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 oh man thread had potential to be lighthearted, maybe even funny and now people are arguing about communism. i'd pay 10 mill to get knocky back. out of my own money.
Finnegan Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Sorry, Scouse, we forget there's intellectually challenged members of the forum.

That sounds pretty much how I think yet because of the taboo word anarchy I dont like to associate the two. I read a SF story once where a spaceship landed on a planet and the inhabitants got by by trading 'favours'. One crew member was good at fixing bikes so he fixed a couple and was given a meal. Several of the crew stayed at the end. It is an idological utopian dream though. There will always be those that think they are worth more than others and those that look up to them. An accodmoty is worth what a person is willing to pay for it. It does not always mean something is better than another at a lower price though.

Anarchy isn't really taboo it's just misused by most, including a lot of people claiming to be anarchists. The word anarchy is often used erroneously as a synonym for moral nihilism.
