Wood gone to Leeds - official

What, you mean like we ruined Max Gradel and Paddy Kisnorbo. :)

Gradel always had bags of potential and he thrived at Leeds. I don't think you'll find a Leicester fan who didn't want to see him do well.

Kisnorbo wasn't any better at Leeds than he was at Leicester. He looked good in average teams at both clubs. Warrior, ball winner, fan favourite.

As for Wood, I wish him all the best and hope he goes on to fulfil some of his potential, even if it is at Leeds.

The point I was sort of getting at was that we don't have a history of taking players off you and turning them to rat shit.  If anything, the reverse.  Just a bit of a weird thing to say really.

Wood just needs a settled run in a decent team.  Despite what you lot think, that's indeed what we are building now.  the squad is in the best shape it's been in years.

Ah right, apologies. I agree in that case.

Yeah, unfortunately for me, all I hear about is Leeds. It's just hard to believe with Massimo in charge.

Leeds have won the race for Leicester striker Chris Wood in a £3million deal.

The Elland Road club were battling Wolves and QPR for the 23-year-old New Zealand international.

But Leeds have dug the deepest to get him out of the King Power Stadium where the Foxes were demanding a profit after paying West Brom £2m for the ace in 2013.

Like I said 10 teams and only 23 yrs old he's scored goals wherever he's played but always moves on/ drops out of favour. There may be limitations to his game but in any job averaging 2 employees a year ain't good for your CV

I like to think he serves a purpose wherever he ends up. His purpose was no longer needed in our side and it seems other teams need the purpose filled. Isn't that what most premier teams are about? Finding the right pieces at the right times?

We probably had to pay West Brom extra due to promotion, never really thought about that. So yeah our fee probably was £2m in the end. Makes you wonder how many others had similar written into their deals. Would be interesting to see the total outlay out extras we had to fork out last year.

Like with Vardy and his "International" clause? hehe

I want this to be as drawn out as possible. Seems like the longer it goes on the more we seem to be getting for him. Three million :crylaugh:

The best article title I've seen yet was "Leeds United get Wood."

I hope that journalist laughed to themselves typing it.

I did notice your username ;)

Yep, he's a certified lunatic, that's for sure.  He has changed the team markedly though.  The team of just a year ago was full of ageing plodders plus McCormack and small smattering of younger players.  It's now mainly young, quite exciting and with a good dollop of genuine talent around the pitch.  It might not be our time next year but we're headed in something like the right direction at last.  Not that you care, of course :D

Yeah the youngsters look promising. Wood will only add to that in my opinion.

I think £3 million for a proven championship goalscorer is fairly cheap in this inflated market.

Teams have been quoted £4 million for 32 year old Daryl Murphy, apparently we bid £8 million for David McGoldrick last season, a league one striker cost Forest £5 million, Blackburn want £6 million for Rudy Gestede.

£3 million for Wood is a good deal for both clubs, we'll make a profit on what we paid for him and Leeds we'll get a young striker who knows where the goal is in that league.

yeah considering i assume most of what they spend is still coming out of the eight figure fee they got from ross mccormack (lol) it's a good deal for everyone.

he'll score 15-20 goals for sure if they aren't completely shit, we've effectively bought okazaki for about 3 mill. tidy.

just shocked that we are getting anything like that for him, usually as soon as we have a player who is surplus to requirements they just disappear on loan for years or we sell them for like 200k even if they're worth 10 times that.

Good post and I agree with all of this and was going to post something similar. The domestic market has got even madder in the last couple of years. £3 million is chickenfeed these days. I'd be disappointed if we get less than that tbh.

Just imagine how much we would have received over the years from clubs if we had Barry Fry selling our players.

He must be one of the best negotiators in England.

I think it will be more like 1million upfront (recoup our fee) and maybe 1million if he scores a certain amount of goals and/or if they get promoted, hope he scores a load of goals then......

Up the City........
