Rich77 Posted 24 June 2015 Posted 24 June 2015 Like I said 10 teams and only 23 yrs old he's scored goals wherever he's played but always moves on/ drops out of favour. There may be limitations to his game but in any job averaging 2 employees a year ain't good for your CV
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 June 2015 Posted 24 June 2015 So you pick out one word of the entire post. Brilliant. I don't think this has been one of Pearson's good buys, lets put it that way then. I honestly don't think he ever really served his purpose. I was really happy when we signed him but it became pretty clear by about April why he kept getting loaned out. That's better Dan. Shite implies shite. He hasn't been and ain't.
simon789us Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 Go all out for Charlie Austin and throw wood in as part of the deal good deal all round
Finn Claw II Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 When he came here I think he was challenging Nugent, Waghorn and Vardy for a place in the team. He can only really blame himself for not doing more here. Vardy shows how much hard work and application can go to improving your game.
Vardinhio Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 I don't think blaming himself is required! He just hasn't got the same athleticc or physical attributes as Vardy and to a lesser extent Nuge. Ulloa has replaced him.
Rusko187 Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 Unfortunately he's been a passenger in the team for a couple of seasons, it would be best for his career to move on and find his form again. He won't get opportunities here unless it involves a long term loan, we may as well cash in and get what we can.
TheLittleBigMan Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 Shame it hasn't worked out for him. He's played an incredible amount of football both domestically and internationally for such a young lad at 23. He's as good a finisher as anyone but just seems to lack in his overall game. Think it's the right thing for him to move on and I wish him all the success in the future.
Thracian Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 He'll be quickly forgotten. Some players look, listen, learn and work tirelessly to add things to their game which make them easier to select whatever way the team plays. Others just use their natural talent and hope its enough. Wood has talent but his limitations make him a bit-part luxury at Premiership level. My guess is he'll continue having his moments but will continue drifting away from the top flight picture.

hackneyfox Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 He's out of contract in 12 months, is a championship side seriously going to pay 2.5m for him?
Dan Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 If we take in £2.5mil for Wood then that is some phenomenal business from us. Bloody hell that's only half a million less than we've paid for a Premier League quality defender.
Gerard Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 he's still quite young, personally would like to see him go out on loan for a season and then re-evaluate He'll never make it here, fifth choice striker and maybe another one coming in. You can't keep holding onto players approaching their mid 20's because of the "what if?" factor. Sell him, releases a position in the squad, gets a few quid in and lessens the wage bill. Wood brings nothing to the table any more for us and doesn't earn his corn.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 He was valued at £2.5m in a swap deal with Sako last summer
Mark_w Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 Qpr interested then part ex for Charlie Austin Whoever wrote the article has probably just read people suggesting that on here and thrown QPR in for the hell of it.
Guest Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 Leeds going for it this season aren't they Massive Leeds want to be Leicester Reserve team.
ealingfox Posted 26 June 2015 Author Posted 26 June 2015 A bidding war would do very nicely. Perhaps Stoke could help us mug someone off by whacking in a cheeky £4million bid?
lgfualol Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 We'll do well to get 2.5m for him. I think a new start somewhere else and he'll be scoring a lot again.
Babylon Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 £2.5 would be excellent business... the lad can score at that level though and he'll be worth plenty more than that after a few years I think. Make sure we put in a % sell on clause.
Wymsey Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 Agree that it's the right time for him to go, knowing that he's one of the 'lesser quality' forwards that we've got. I'm sure he'll thrive again, especially in the Championship.

Make sure we put in a % sell on clause. I agree. A percentage sell on, and a min goals payment would be nice. I think under the right stewardship and game time under his belt he can achieve being a decent Champ striker. I hope he finds the club that suits him best and wish him all the best.
