Shame it didn't work out for him with us but no time for sentiment. Thanks for the memories Wood and hope he can get a run of games and settle somewhere. He's a great signing for a champ club but both us and west brom had the same view that he isn't prem quality yet. Doubt both can be wrong

The Mirror claim the R’s are willing to fork out £2million for the New Zealand international who has found first team chances at Leicester limited. The Foxes however are keen to bring in at least £4million for the forward who spent a relatively unsuccessful spell at Ipswich last season. Wolves boss Kenny Jackett is a big fan of Wood, who massively impressed on loan at Millwall when Jackett was in charge at The Den. Since then though Wood has failed to find his top form, even in the Championship, so a permanent move away from Leicester looks likely to be the answer. Leeds United are still looking for their Ross McCormack replacement 12 months on from selling their star man and Wood has been earmarked as the player to come in. QPR are waiting for bids of more than £12million for Charlie Austin, with Newcastle the front runners, and are waiting to see that money before brining any more faces in.

Apparently we had talks with him yesterday.

Can't see him signing for us as he'd be third choice behind Afobe and Dicko. I'd imagine he'd rather go to somewhere like QPR for the money or Leeds to be first choice.

Wouldn't fancy our chances of keeping them all happy

Agreed. Unless Chelsea had of come in for Kramaric at £15million or something stupid a few seemed to assume in January, taking Austin would be more hassle then it's worth.

I'm not sure taking a player who scored 18 goals last season could ever be "more hassle than it's worth".

If we're playing two strikers and one in the hole (Kramaric and Okazaki could both play there) then I don't think five strikers is too much. What it would mean is the end of Nugent which if we want to kick on another level is no bad thing IMO.

Hopefully the club can shift him asap to get him off the wage bill and make a bit of money, since the second game of the season he's been a drain on resources.  I know he said he wanted to fight for his place but leaving would've meant a big drop in wages, he said all the right things and maybe showed it in the training but didn't show anything when he came off the bench.

There's no point him going out on loan with only a year left because if he does well he'll probably see out his contract and go for free.

It's a shame that it didn't work out for him and the club but we have moved on and players will have to adapt if they want game time.

He could've played regular first team football for Wolves last season had money not been such a big issue

Like I said 10 teams and only 23 yrs old he's scored goals wherever he's played but always moves on/ drops out of favour. There may be limitations to his game but in any job averaging 2 employees a year ain't good for your CV

In any other field, yes, but football as a youngster at a prem club that's almost expected.

Is that Nouha Dicko? If so, Wood is a considerable improvement.

I think that's over egging the pudding a bit there. Dicko has pace, strength and is a decent finisher. Can play up on his own or as a two. He's probably a better all round player than Wood. It's certainly no given anyway.

Woah woah woah. Nah.

Wood was an integral figure of Nigel Pearson’s side that won promotion to the Premier League last year, however since then he has fallen down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium following the acquisitions of Jamie Vardy, Leonardo Ulloa and Andrej Kramari.

Top notch journalism there from Squawka
