Confirmed: Ranieri new manager

I think Ric has  nailed it. It will be sad to see the team spirit go but if that what it takes to be a success in the PL then I suppose we will need to accept it. We can be a team that gives 100% for 99% of the time without always winning  or a team of quality that brushes lesser teams aside when not performing at their best.

I genuinely don't understand why people are being negative about this.

People go on about his 'under achievements' but I'd argue he always lays the foundations for successful sides even if he isn't the man to see the job through. Take Chelsea, he built the core of that title winning side despite him not being The Special One. At Roma, a team who were last truly successful under Capello and a club close to Mr Ranieri's heart, transformed under his leadership and almost, almost took the title. Again, at Monaco, a side who had been relegated to Ligue 2 in the year before his appointment, again promoted by a canter and then almost, almost won the league.

As our own personal ambitions are not to (currently) surmount a title challenge, alas, I think he is the best manager we could ask for at this given stage. He has achieved a damn sight more than our previous manager has done at the top level and I still argue that despite our run at the end, why did it took Nigel so long to address issues we could all see as fans? (For example - not playing Albrighton, dodgy formations). I am not denying that NP got it right more times than not but still, we were dead and buried until a certain Mr Cambiasso drew up his alleged plan in the canteen. All I'm saying is this - give the poor bloke a break. I am delighted he is here and think he will prove all the doubters wrong. Welcome to Leicester City Claudio!  :scarf:

Just so so disappointed that we've appointed someone quite clearly at the wrong end of his career, who recently got sacked by Greece, who is a tinker man, who won't have a clue about how to manage a struggling premier league side, who has been sacked from almost every job in the last ten years, who clearly wasn't first choice. I could go on. Don't be blinded by the fact he's managed so many clubs- look at his actual record at most! Abysmal.

lol have a word.

Chelsea he build the foundations of mourinhos domination, signing lampard, makelele, Scouting out Cech and giving terry his first proper run in the team, only finishing second due to the invincibles of arsenal.

Parma he rescued and took them up through the divisions.

Valencia he came in and took them to the champions league

Juventus, first season back up and second, first season after him they finished 7th

Roma, lost out on a title due to mourinhos treble winners by a point, having come in three games in with them rock bottom with no points

Monaco, promotion at the first time of asking, straight into second.

His actual club record is excellent, to consider those failures shows delusions of grandeur.

I will give the guy a chance but being sacked from Monaco finishing second and the reason being is because the owners want attacking football to entertain the fans does not give me much hope

Just looked at a summary of his record on sky sports news app.

He has an impressive CV. He's only been sacked because the clubs he was at (big clubs at that) wanted instant titles and he delivered a few runners up spots.

For our club I believe he's a very good appointment

Only lost 4 times though. And Monaco didnt do as well without him.

I'm personally not bothered how we play as long as we stay up.

This is a good appointment.

I am however not surprised that there is negativity among some, as over years (going back to 1978) I have never been amazed about what some of our fans have moaned about........The bloke who sat behind me through the O'Neil years complaining about Guppy and Izzet everytime they got the ball is the one that jumps to mind...........

I can totally understand people's frustration and disappointment with the current situation. Here's my personal situation and feelings and why I feel quite negative at the minute.

My season ticket costs me quite a bit in comparison to my income. I've had a season ticket since 1988 and I always sacrifice other things in life to purchase my ticket. I had a season ticket in league 1 and I always backed the club even when it was unpleasant to do so.

Finally we get it right. The owners, the manager, the team and the fans were all in unison and working toward success and I was very proud to to support Leicester. It seemed all the years of toil and money spent watching Leicester was finally being rewarded during Nigel's and the owners' tenure over the last couple of years. Things were going so well and most importantly we seemed to have a long term plan and we were building a fantastic structure throughout the club.. Premiership football, great football and importantly a great atmosphere.

The owners have put this in jeopardy. It might work but I just can't see why a change was necessary and I certainly can't see the plan in place or the long term vision under Ranieri. The fans have put up with a lot. The 12,000 hardy souls that were there in league 1 etc finally had a massive amount of pride in what we were achieving. We had a young British manager and a club that was the envy of our local rivals.

Non of the above makes me care more or less than anyone else and just because i've been to a lot of games doesn't make me more important than anyone else but that doesn't stop me feeling quite angry that such a risk has been taken. I can't help but worry that this change will have a negative impact on the squad and the atmosphere at the games.

This is just my opinion. I will support and back the manager and ultimately the team. But if this goes wrong the negativity around the club could be there for years. To have it so good and seemingly throw that away is hard to understand.

His default style is a quite defensive, counter-attacking one, probably best demonstrated by his Valencis side of the late 90s/early 0s. We certainly have the pace in our ranks to suit that.

Not a bad appointment. He has managed some good top teams and he already knows Huth Cambiasso and Walsh. Important for the fans to support him.

His record, on the whole, is pretty damn good

A reality check needed guys and gals - Levine/McGhee/Holloway/Allen/Sousa/Megson/Bassett.

We now have a proven Coach in various Countries with some top Clubs. He will keep us in this league and

that IS first and foremost what we all desire, is it not?

For those Pearson lovers, please get off the Owners' backs. Pearson's Son insulted their Country and caused them (and US) tremendous embarrassment. God knows what some of our Thai sponsors must have felt seeing all

this going on in the public domain. Our Owners are brilliant business people and rely on football people

(within the club) to advise them on football decisions.

So lets ALL sit back and give CR a chance. I believe our Club is in safe hands.

If I see the job he did at Greece mentioned again......grrrrrr

It's just I easy to beat him with that stick. If failing over 4 games with a declining international team is the best criticism the negative people have, then brilliant.

Bit ambitious. A scrappy 1-0 home and away double over them will do.

Someone in the pub last night suggested having a yenner on City to win the FA Cup this year. Should get a decent price. They wanted to do it as a birthday present for a regular who is a fan. Ten people at tenner each at 200/1 should bring in a fair bit.

A yenner?

One Japanese Yen is about half a penny.

Your mate in the pub is really pushing the boat out.  :)

No chance Leicester will be 200/1 for the FA Cup, probably about 33/1
