ealingfox Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 End season with Big Nige and Esteban Cambiasso, comfortable mid-table and top of the European form table. Start next season with The Tinkerman and Nathan Ake. Welcome to LCFC
Carlos88LCFC Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 I find it fascinating how much Chelsea reserve football some of you have watched last season. All I know about Ake is Jose saying "if I don't bring this development squad through, I have failed as a manager" and I'm sure Ake is one of the big players in that squad, that's why we are targeting him. Can't be a bad player, surely?

les-tah Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 Comfortable mid-table ... What team were you watching last season? There was nothing comfortable Bout last season. People forget the first painful 30 games hahah (give or take a win( Man Utd ))
st albans fox Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 There was nothing comfortable about reading 'ealings' posts last season As far as Ake is concerned, if we are planning to play this season with him as our defensive midfielder or even first cover cdm then it's going to be a v tough one. He may well be a very promising and capable player but he hasn't played outside of Chelsea's u21 squad. Needs to go on loan in the championship or league 1.
davieG Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 I'm against this in principle I don't believe you should be able to loan players out to teams in the same league especially the PL where it just gives the big clubs greater incentive to stockpile all the young talent knowing they'll be able to develop them in other Pl teams without affecting their first team squad.

I agree with this. If Jose thinks Ake is such a great talent then he should be developing him. We can't have Ake learning on the job on our game time, making mistakes that could cost us points rather than Chelsea. If it's a loan with a view to buy next season then I would take him but we need to worry about building our team first. Our club is at a bigger stage than needing Chelsea loanees, we need quality players to do the job from the start..

It can often mean that if the team with the loanee are improved, it gives that team a slightly better chance of beating the competition of the loaning team. Also the team with the loanee would usually finish higher in the table, so I think both teams win. Not too much wrong with that. Certainly, when we are big enough to loan out players in the Premier League, I would like us to have the opportunity to do it, but until then let's get some in if it suits.

I see what you mean if the player is of quality like Remy when QPR went down or Victor Moses at Stoke but, I think davieG (and I) mean why should we be developing U21s for Chelsea, they took a risk singing them they should develop them with their resources. We haven't got the luxury or have the financial burden where we need to take on other clubs upcoming, unproven, talent to fill a gap in our squad.
Ric Flair Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 Ake is a good talent but I'd rather we signed him permanently. He's perfect for our 3-5-2 as he can play in 3 positions and could do well. Loans though, piss me off.

Often you get the chance of signing them permanently. It can be risky for both sides of the coin, but sometimes worth making the gamble.
Stevosevic Posted 19 July 2015 Author Posted 19 July 2015 Two CMs on permanent deals please, spend some money.
ramadaone Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 Lots of comments from people who quite clearly have never seen him play Agree in principle that loans are not the best things in the world but at least it works both ways if things don't go according to plan

orangecity23 Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 He is under 21, which means he wouldn't take up a slot in the 25 man squad. If it is a signing to add a bit of depth and cover across a few positions, then I don't have a problem with it.
TJB-fox Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 Him alongside two new central midfielders (assuming Cambiasso leaves) is fine. Him, coming in as a first choice player is not.
LAprice_ Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 He's probably good enough for our squad but I wouldn't want to become a small cog in the Chelsea machine. 7 Permanent deal or look else where. Loaning from Chelsea is pointless.

I can't disagree with that but what's the alternative? Let him join Villa whilst we end up with someone our scouts deem to be a poorer player? Hate the game not the player.
foxfanazer Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 Been impressed with him when I've seen him play but hasn't seemed to progress much at Chelsea (probably not his fault)
