lestajigs Posted 31 July 2015 Posted 31 July 2015 Good morning, it must be Dave on the the train, goodbye! lol
Rincewind Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Not true, Rince. Syd Barrett died of pancriatic cancer in 2006: Wish You Were Here (the album) was released in 1975. The title track was indeed written with Syd in mind, as he had been forced to leave the band in1968 due to deteriorating mental health (allegedly through the copious use of LSD). The two-part track, 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' was written as a tribute to him. Got those mixed up. I just remember a documentary where they mentioned it.
notnow john Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 But it is me telling them I wish they were here, as in they were with me, yours would probably be a more normal interpretation of it though. It's actually a great shout, The album (Wish you were here 1975l) was about absence, with a few nods to Syd Barrett. Syd was kicked out of the band a few years earlier, but didn't die until 2006.
Aus Fox Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Randomly have Annie I'm not your daddy playing, just to stir up some good old family controversy and leave everyone there going home trying to work out the meaning behind the song choice.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 1 August 2015 Author Posted 1 August 2015 This on an hour loop and they have to sit through it all. Just pissed myself at the thought of that
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 August 2015 Posted 4 August 2015 As I have said in the "Music" thread, I have made my family and friends know that I want Dave Davie's, "Death of a Clown", played at my funeral.

Alf Bentley Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 You'd struggle to find a more APPROPRIATE funeral song than this one. My mate had it played at his funeral and it's already in my will for it to be played at mine.
