Kante officially signed

How soon could he start for us?

A couple of weeks into the new season, I doubt he'll be an early or regular starter for us in his first Premier League campaign.

We need a more experienced head in the middle of the park.

What is our style now?

The one constant through from the end of last season under Pearson to the pre-season games under Ranieri is that we're asking our central midfielders to cover an awful lot of ground. There's nobody playing a holding role, Mahrez (playing behind the strikers) isn't the best at tracking back and when we've played wing-backs it's not like there are wide players who can tuck in because they've got to get back and cover the full-back positions.

Cambiasso was always a bit of a strange one because you wouldn't have expected him to be able to cover that much ground but he did it and was often the player pressing the opposition way up the pitch despite being known as a defensive midfielder. I assume this was partly because he felt the need to lead by example.

Of course, Ranieri might change things a bit. But his post-match interviews in pre-season always seemed to praise the periods when we've been quick to attack.

From the videos, Kante seems like an energetic player who can break play up but also take play forward 30 or 40 yards pretty quickly. Just seems a really good fit for us.

Fair enough, I've not seen any of the preseason and I'm pleased you have confidence that we will continue to attack at pace. My main worry of the manager change, is a significant change in style.

I might be reading too much into pre-season but in the three second halves that I've seen, we've bombed forward at pace like you'd want. I'm cautiously optimistic.

I wouldn't be expecting too much from the lad early season. They may beef him up a bit first and also let him see what's required of him.

He certainly doesn't lack confidence on the ball which is a good thing. Here's hoping he will turn out a good signing.

This lad looks full of energy and a ball winner.

Here's hoping he can protect the defence more than the midfield did last season.

Happy with this.

lol

He looks much quicker.

Just the type of midfielder we've been needing for ages IMO.

As I said, here's hoping.

I go away for a day and don't bother with FT and suddenly we've officially signed 2 players and it looks like both Inler & Aranguiz are potential goers after all (well Inler does at least).

I should stay away from here more often.

I'd like N'Golo to play behind King/Inler/Aranguiz, to do the dirty work in tackling in front of defence.

And leave other CM/CM's to be the creative ones.

Which will hopefully be the case anyway.

I can rather imagine a more experienced central midfielder taking over the CDM role which would then in turn would allow a fellow like Kanté to play in a more free-roaming role (if he becomes a regular starter, which I can't see happening very soon).

Me too.

Welcome Mr. Kante

I'm assuming the lack of interviews means he speaks no English. Not a massive problem but with that and the rumours of him being a shy and quiet bloke it may take him a while to settle. Need to give him time.

Looking at the pictures I thought Lloyd Dyer had re-signed for us.

Amirite fox_favourite?

Whenever you make a joke in a post, all I can imagine is that ostrich saying it and then pulling that cheesy grin! lol
