What's more - and it aggrieves me to say it - on this showing, Mahrez looks a better player.

Why would he be aggrieved that Mahrez looks better than Sterling? Seems a strange choice of words for a 'neutral' reporter.

Just because he cost more? Then scout players better and refuse to pay the silly amounts clubs want for unproven overhyped kids.

Don't feel aggrieved when we do a better job of finding young talent and building a solid hardworking team.

BT - Christian Fuchs, Riyad Mahrez, Rob Huth and N'Golo Kanté are the Leicester players to make it into the Premier League team of the week after they stunned Manchester City at the Etihad.

Starsport Team of the Week: Forster (Southampton); Yoshida (Southampton), Lescott (Aston Villa), Huth (Leicester), Trippier (Tottenham); Lingard (Manchester United), Kante (Leicester), Ramsey (Arsenal), Mahrez (Leicester); Firmino (Liverpool), Defoe (Sunderland)

Exactly what I was thinking when I read that remark as well. It's so indicative of the press that they find it hard to acknowledge a player is better than someone else merely because they cost less. Sterling had a good season piggy backing on Suarez and now the media are shocked when he's not playing well? He's done sod all for Man City and was woeful in the last half season of Liverpool. But I guess seeing as he cost more than a talented, technical player like Riyad he must be better.

"Aggrieved to say it" pr*ck.

Probably because Sterling is the big hope for England this summer and he looked shite. I don't think he meant it as a slight on Mahrez, just that he expects so much from Sterling and is very very disappointed.

"At this point it suddenly occurred to me that this lad only cost Leicester City £400,000, while Manchester City's Raheem Sterling cost £49m. Which rather begs the question 'how does football come to terms with such a difference in value between two almost identical players?' What's more - and it aggrieves me to say it - on this showing, Mahrez looks a better player."

He doesn't mention England at all. It is all about the price, and the fact that a less expensive player is playing better. You can try to read between the lines, but he is annoyed that Man City spent so much, and Mahrez is playing better. Meaning that he believes paying more for Sterling, and him being at Man City, means that he should be playing better. And I guess he is right, and it is a stupid system. But he shouldn't be 'aggrieved' to say that Mahrez is better, he should be happy about it if anything.

And that's kindly ignoring his laughable attempt to word it as though he's got great insight for bringing up the same gulf in prices that's been brought up by every pundit and his dog this past weekend and indeed every time we play a traditionally big-spending club.

I feel like i see Van Dijk high up in every rating system this season, has he actually been as good as the stats suggest or what?

I thought he was good against us and have continued to think he looks class. He's been phenomenal. A huge part of southamptons unbelievable defensive record recently

Think that coincides with Forster coming back as well, though.

Van Dijk is superb and should be in contention for team of the season. Top player.

He helped improve the defence when he joined last season. How many goals did they concede - 30!? Something like that.
