Vardy and England

On form, Rooney shouldn't be anywhere near the squad, Kane might make the subs bench, Cahill would be dropped and Hart would be dropped for Butland.

What is going to happen, however, is that Hodgson will play his favourites.

The very least that should happen is vardy is started in the number 9 role up top in England's strongest team in the France friendly!

I'd love that.

I'm rubbish at betting but I bet this:

If Rooney is fit, he will start. Then Sturridge, then Kane.

Predictable Roy will be predictable Roy.

Vardy will appear under the pecking list even to Wellbeck IMO.

I'd be amazed if this isn't the case.

Shoukd start Vardy up top and have someone like Shelvey getting the ball to him as soon as possible. Think that would work well. Won't happen though.

Have to play Rooney deeper, will be the undoing of both United and England playing him up front.

He's shit there as well though. He has awful control of the ball and his passing is dog mess. He was only ever any good at running at players and finishing, now he's lost his pace and drops too deep. He thinks he's able to be a playmaker but he's atrocious at it. I'd rather Gareth Barry in the hole than Rooney!

Laughable how many have been queuing up to slate Rooney for years. I've heard off so many Pub heads that he's "finished" for about 5 years now. He's always proved them wrong and he will again this season.

Not supporting England because there isn't a Leicester player in there is pathetic.

Agree with a lot of this but he's done now.

Man Utd fans have been calling him shit for years. Even when he was scoring goals it was masking his atrocious all round play.

He can't even trap a ball anymore, its sad to see but totally self inflicted as he hasn't looked after himself.

It's unbelievable that Moyes gave him a 5 year contract on 300k a week lol

I have a fair few Man Utd supporting friends and they think he's rubbish. In fact I think it sometimes verges on hatred  lol

Rooney will start every game until he retires. I'm 99% confident of that. It's embarrassing.

I'm praying for a Rooney broken metatarsal in may. Then we can finally be released from his shackles

What a totally tasteless thing to say.

Dont write Rooney off just yet everyone.

Rooney is garbage.  When was the last time he made a telling contribution in an England game against a high profile side.  Yes he may be top scorer, but others are right, hes banging all his goals in mostly in qualifiers or friendlies against absolute dross.  Hes never turned up on the big stage apart from one game against Croatia way back when, 2004?

since 66, we have played against alot of so called dross, in qualifiers and friendlies, outside Charlton, lineker, shearer (maybe).

Not been too many other Strikers from England that have turned up, in fact...none.

I dont think Rooney ever went to a WC/EC injury free, plus any form he took with him, were thanks to Foreigners supplying the service, that no English midfield could supply.

Rooney has not had at International level players, that consistently played at his level. All forwards including Vardy needs the service......When he has been supported, he accumalated 50 Int. Goals.

He has slowed down, but his range of passing is still there, we are struggling at present to find a no10, I think he should play that role, or slot behind the strikers. He is still our best thinking footballer.

Sturridge, Welbeck because of injury are not automatic write ins for next year.Barclay, Lallana still fighting for a start.

Wiltshire, for me a must, but again prone to injury.By June people might fancy a solid English guy playing for...???

That could bring in D.Drinkwater.

With all these unknowns thats why Rooney is going, then hopefully with both Vardy and Kane.

Would've agreed with all of that last year, and did defend him quite a bit on here during the world cup, but unfortunately now he's just being consistently wank week in week out

It is tasteless I know, but it's the only way he won't get picked for the big games. Roy needs his hand forced to see that if he completely changed our philosophy and utilised the one attribute that's pretty much synonymous with the England squad- pace- we'd become a much better side.

Sorry but Rooney has had plenty of chances to prove himself in tournaments. We can't keep playing him in the hope he may one day come good.

Tried to have this conversation with a fan on the way back from Brum on the train, I started by trying to explain that yes whilst I am biased towards our jamie, I accept he is not world class, but in the next 2 friendlies, with spain and france, as examples, all I would like to see tried it Vardy getting a run out down the middle.

As in my opinion, when spain have 70% of the football, who would you back to run away from ramos or pique when we knock a ball forward, Vardy, Rooney or Kane, turns out I met the 1 Leicester based member of the Harry Kane fan club.

We have spent years taking the so called best players and failed, maybe all some of us just want, is to see a bit of pride back in the shirt and a team, not collection of over piad over hyped individuals.
