filbertway Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 I watched it live on SSN and got that quote off the BBC sport website. It's on the live news feed thing. Hodgson went on more and more than just that quote. Seemed angry that people were even suggesting he was playing vardy out of position I really thought he had been misquoted, that seems an unprofessional and patronising thing to say about the most inform striker in the country at the minute. Crazy.
Soar Fox Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 This is exactly the reason I hate our national team. Players getting picked on who they play for rather than the form they are in. The sooner Hodgson goes the better, he's a typical Fa yes man, who plays the blandest sort of football. How can he pick Fabian Delph who's played 5 minutes of football in 2 months over the likes of Drinkwater, Noble, Puncheon I'll never know.
adam Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Pathetic squad. How some of those get in above drinkwater is a disgrace and his comment on vardy is laughable. ****ing Dier was a centre half last year and delph hasn't played .Sooner he goes the better.

Xen Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 If I was Vardy I'd genuinely contemplate pulling out of the squad after seeing that. Disgusting from Woy
Newcastle_Fox Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Full video of the interview here: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11712/10056822/jamie-vardy-should-not-get-hung-up-on-england-role-roy-hodgson-says Basically Rooney has the centre position guaranteed and Vardy will have to play in one of the wide postions if he wants to play and try and prove himself.
Finnaldo Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 The worst part is that it's been fans/journos/teammates asking to play down the middle, how he's came back from criticism and worked on his game before would suggest he's unlikely to have moaned at all and if anything simply put in a request to be tried in the middle. If that's the case, then what kind of shite manager would have a go at a player for what others have said. Not only that, he's said it to the media for all to hear. Awful man-management and Hodgson's proving to be a stubborn, past it FA Yes-Man. Who in their right mind would dare to tell the Premier League's best striker this term, currently outscoring Aguero, that he should be luckt to be in with a lad who, whilst he may have had it good last season, hasn't carried it out again this season, and a player who hasn't been in form since 2012. Absolutely stinks of the modern English mentality.
Soar Fox Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 If I was Vardy I'd genuinely contemplate pulling out of the squad after seeing that. Disgusting from Woy I thought the same. I wouldn't want to play for a manager like that.
Wortho Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 It wouldn't surprise me come Euro 2016, that Hodgson will pick a crocked Welbeck rather than Vardy. Hodgson is such a joke. Vardy should play the central role, but know doubt he'll be farmed out to the wing.
AKCJ Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 you just know that Rooney and Kane will score this weekend and Roy will pull the old "my hands are tied" bollocks. Getting sick of him just being a yes man for the corporate F.A. and their miserable football. It's all about statistics to impress the suits and it's totally wrong.
Jimmy Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 he'll play him wide now to prove a point. to be fair the journo's were asking why the top scorer gets played out of position
Corky Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 If he's going to shove him out wide I'd rather he didn't play. Stick him up front and see how he does. If he's not good enough then fine, at least you tried. Putting him out wide where he doesn't look comfortable, limiting what he's good at and has been showing is a waste of time really. You have a genuinely exciting player leading from the front in terrific form and you'll play him out on the left?
EGBFitness Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 England national team is a joke and has been corrupt for years. Woys comments was bang out of order I feel as if his hands are tied to pick Vardy at the minute and that soon as form drops/player comes back from injury then he will no longer be considered but in the meantime enjoy being around the likes of Rooney. Problem with this country is rather than choosing a team with the right balance/formations etc we pick players from reputation. Maybe it sponsorships to pay the FA more money or maybe it's just the poor mentality of the manager we have/have had. We actually have some really good players in our team now and could challenge top 4 rankings but we never will because we will rather choose players like Rooney, Delph and Henderson.
Buzzell Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Full video of the interview here: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11712/10056822/jamie-vardy-should-not-get-hung-up-on-england-role-roy-hodgson-says Basically Rooney has the centre position guaranteed and Vardy will have to play in one of the wide postions if he wants to play and try and prove himself. Just watched the video. Obvious Hodgson is getting fed up with people suggesting Vardy play down the middle. If I was Vardy watching that, I wouldn't be happy. It's two friendlies Hodgson, give Vardy his chance down the middle to show what he can do instead of playing an out of form Rooney and poster boy Kane there.
lgfualol Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Delighted for Vardy. However, Hodgson can go suck his own rotten peen. "Needs to convince us" how about look how many goals he scores in the middle and on the wing. Get someone under 80 in charge of England, we might actually get out of the group stages in tournaments.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 - Prove to me you can play up top Jamie. - No problem gaffer - stick me up there and I'll get you some goals. - No, no, Jamie, you misunderstand. I want you to prove you can play centre forward by playing left wing. - ...Ok, I'll do my best. So if I do ok on the left wing, you'll play me up top? - Well obviously not. If you play well there, you'll keep playing there. If you don't, it'll show you're not up to playing up front. - I see. And Rooney will be playing up front based on his excellent goalscoring record against... - Against everybody who plays football as a second sport to ice hockey, husky racing, needlework and civil unrest... Exactly the type of people we need to beat in qualifiers. - Right. And the fact he's too old, fat and out of form to produce against footballing nations..? - Look Jamie, I've written my speech for being knocked out of the Euros in the group stages to Slovenia, and I'm bollokcsed if I'm going to rewrite it by playing competent footballers next summer. Now get out there and practice your crossing...
Tielemans63 Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 I used to love international football as a kid but it's the lack of any sort of ambition from successive England managers that means I never bother to watch it. The same players turning out half-hearted, turgid performances against sides that would struggle in the Conference North. It doesn't help that Woy has to be the least imaginative, least inspiring manager going. Other than the clueless ****s at the FA, how many England fans would have him in charge? Not very many. On the bright side he will get sacked when *shock horror* Wayne Rooney's dire form doesn't suddenly change at Euro 2016 and we're out after 3 underwhelming performances..... ....and they appoint Gareth Southgate as his successor and round we go again.
Dan Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Glad people are opening their eyes to what I've said ages. England are an utter shambles from the top to bottom who constantly have situations that sugar coat the reality. England aren't about fair chances or developing anything, they're bothered about reputation (sponsorship etc...) and that's all. Shameful stuff. How has Delph got in ahead of Drinkwater? Vardy inevitably binned on the wing again whilst talisman probably bags a penalty despite playing like crap. Same old. Nothing will change. Some people actually think there's nothing wrong.
Larry_LCFC Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Hope vardy smashes a hat trick this weekend. Prove his point once and for all.
Kitchandro Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Wow. Woy's comments today prove that not only is he extremely incompetent when it comes to football management, he's also a snob and downright disrespectful. It's plainly obvious that he basically thinks of Vardy as some non-league scrubber who's not worthy of England. It's like he's on a backhander from the FA to makes sure Rooney and Kane play up front as first choice and under no circumstances lose their place to a rough upstart from one of the clubs outside the biggest 6 in England. How dare he suggests Vardy should think himself lucky to be playing for his country. Hodgson should think himself lucky he's got such a striker at his disposal, and that he's even England manager at all considering he wasn't remotely qualified to get the job and then proceeded to oversee our worst World Cup performance of all time. Vardy has earned his shot for his nation and is in the squad on merit. You cannot say the same about Hodgson. It's stuff like this which has made me enjoy it when England lose. They deserve to.
Dan Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Hope vardy smashes a hat trick this weekend. Prove his point once and for all. Hope the entire ground belts out "ARE YOU WATCHING ROY HODGSON"
Ozwin Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Hope the entire ground belts out "ARE YOU WATCHING ROY HODGSON" How I would love this. Hodgson's gone right down in my estimation after what he said today.
Number 6 Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 How I would love this. Hodgson's gone right down in my estimation after what he said today. Ditto. Thought he should have been sacked after the world cup but have never disliked him until today. Shameful comments.

How can he pick Fabian Delph who's played 5 minutes of football in 2 months over the likes of Drinkwater, Noble, Puncheon I'll never know. You can add Marc Albrighton to that list. If I've read the opta stars correctly he'd be second only to Sterling (if he was in the squad) in terms of contribution so far this season.
Mikey Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 At least Vardy's nailed on to score now Woy said that. Not that he wouldn't of, anyway.
