League Cup: Bury Post Match 1-4

Were the Napoli fans who said that he shoots all the time but never gets them on target any more and that he's slow as anything right then?

If you look at the stats, his goalscoring record has actually improved over the years.

Plus, I've never understood the notion that a defensive midfielder ought to be a prolific goalscorer, as well.

Without any doubt, pocket dynamo Kante was the best player on the pitch. A direct attacking instinct that terrorised the opposition particularly first half. And a willingness to work to move into space sadly lost on others. I disagree that Benalouyane is a car crash. First half he was composed and distribution excellent. Second half the combination of lack of fitness and them hoofing the high ball took its toll, but he should adjust to the demands of English game and be okay. Inler decent distribution at times but too ponderous and negative at others. Fuchs clearly unfit, as picked up by Bury chant "have you ever seen your c*ck"?!!

Wow defending for the goal was terrible. Two men go to the same player leaving someone completely unmarked. Expected fuchsia and was to organise better than that.

Ah well, as long as you score more than you concede. Chuffed for dodo, some good finishing there. Their goalkeeper was atrocious though.

West Ham away is terrible for us. We have such bad draws in the cups recently.

Good job it's at home then....

Kante was immense and easily the best player on the pitch. Difficult to fully judge in terms of quality of opponent but I'd put him in for Saturday.

Can only remember him losing the ball a couple of times and he even gave their beast of a centre half, who was twice his size, a bit of stick.

He breaks very quickly, his control is equisite, and he looks to play other players in.

Superb night overall and Doodoos hattrick was very reminiscent of Schlupp's at Rotherham a few years ago.

It is amazing to find people with such varying perceptions. Benalouane is far from perfect, I agree, but a car crash defender? That just sounds like people writing with a pre-conceived notion of a player.

Inler was poor in the 2nd half, and the midfield seemed hollow and the whole team backed off. Italian defence doesn't seem to suit us just yet.........

How the hell was that third not offside? If you pause the video when he kicks it all that's left of Dodoo is his heal as he runs off into the distance! He's about 6 yards offside!

That lino had a shocker all game. Got three calls wrong in the second half.

Yeah you should have seen the Bury fans after the 3rd goal. They were proper going mental at the linesman. lol

The irate schoolkids you mean? Was disappointed at the lack of chant regarding their apparent youthfulness

How was Kramaric? Took his goal well, but taken off early, was that to keep him fresh for Saturday as  he had played his way into Claudio's plans, or was he poor apart from his goal?

I have no idea as I wasn't there but you can't see where the right full back is (unless that's him top of the picture and the left backs gone walkabout) so he could be being played on

nah even from the away end (ie not got any type of angle to judge an offside call) he was miles offside. never mind.

also i thought benny was our best defender for most the game lol, amazed with the stick he is getting.

Devil's advocate alert:

Goals conceded:

Us - 5

Man U - 0

Points - 7

I'd rather be winning 4-2 than winning 1-0 every week.

But I'm not for 1 minute saying we will win every week or that we are anywhere near close to competing with Man U, I just thought it was a funny stat and I'm enjoying our great start to the season while it lasts

Solid performance. Never really looked like losing it even when under pressure after conceding at 2-1. Defensively we contained a plucky enough performance from them really well. Offensively we played some very nice football at times. Was good to see some of the new boys get 90 minutes as well and pleased to get the victory done in normal time. Kante and Dodoo were excellent all night.

Inler played some outstanding long balls out to the wings but his short passes seemed to miss the target more often than not. Kante looked excellent and Dodoo is an exciting prospect.

Hey up, did you go? Sounded like the home fans got a bit mardy towards the end?

Listened to it on the radio and sounded like we dominated pretty much from start to finish, which when you consider how Villa and Watford struggled, augurs well for any squad rotation

Totally agree, Man Utd fans must be bored poopless, watching that dross!
