Mahrez

Be interesting to see how we handle the inevitable offers for Vardy and Mahrez.

Don't need to sell as the riches of having good settled players outweighs the fee. But to keep them we may have to offer bumper contracts, which would push us into new territory and may disrupt squad harmony.

We're currently 3rd, if we stay well up in the top half then I'd expect every player to be pushing for a massively improved contract.

Surely depending on where we end up at the end of the season we may get a chunk of money for Mahrez. if PSG and Man U are interested it has to be 15-20 million at least. It would be hard for us to turn that down and also Mahrez to not be interested.

It should be very easy to turn down 15-20m for either of them, how much would it cost to replace them with players who would hit the ground running?

If a huge club comes in for Mahrez he'll want to go.

I love him but don't forget how he was when we started being linked with him at Le Havre, he couldn't wait to get out the door.

All this press about Mahrez and Vardy being eyes up by the likes of Man Utd etc etc etc is pretty worrying turning their heads with the likes of playing champions league football with these huge clubs but my main worry is that it's going to unsettle them and they will lose form as it has been shown before with players being linked with a big money move to one of these clubs!

I like a lot of fans here hope our owners can persuade them and their agents that we are the better option for them we have money now we don't need to sell why sign for Utd etc and warm the bench when you are guaranteed to play more football at Leicester than at one of those clubs I really hope we keep hold of two of our prized assets show them our true intentions give them really decent contracts and show them we mean business about competing in this league as we are surpassing everyone's imagination with our grit determination and utter pride at not knowing that we are beaten because our results of late are nothing more than bloody awesome let's show them that we have the ambition to buy quality around them and build our club into a Big Club !!

Who wouldn't want to make a move to England though?

He said in a interview once that his friends were telling him not to come to Leicester but he made the choice himself to join us and he is now shoving it back down there throat as we sit 3rd in the table.

I honestly don't think he has any intention of leaving this year, he looks happy here.

Don't really see the point in football if all our best players leave to join United, Arsenal or Liverpool. Is it really going to be the same 4 or 5 teams until the end of time? How boring.

There's no competition to be had if this happens again. It becomes a total farce. We deserve our chance to challenge these w4ankers.

Who was that absolute moron, not sure if it was this thread or another one, who kept banging on about how bad a player Mahrez was last season? Not just not playing well or not as good as everyone made out, but a terrible football player. Would like a laugh reading through that again.

If any club give LCFC a massive transfer offer, I would bet that LCFC would still be unwilling to sell.

We've got a great team in scouting under-seen gems, who have given us these gems for little money - and these are the people (Rudkin) etc we need to keep, so we can develop these players to be potentially up to Mahrez & Vardy's standards.

Massive money won't get you nowhere - look at Man Utd and possibly Chelsea.

I have a feeling that stuff is going on behind the scenes

The board asked us to 'trust them'

There is the new 'smart' edict where the first team now arrive in suits

I know for a fact that the dress codes in the corporate areas are being looked at and enforced more

Methinks January could be very interesting, especially if we manage to take some points off the big boys and are still in touch with the top 4.

Imagine clipping points off the top Club's.

That'd be incredible!

So wrong my friend.

Posted on here before about Mahrez signing for us when he did due to me working with two Algerian Lads.

Anyway here goes. Mahrez was being scouted and offered a deal from Marseille at the time but was reluctant to go there, instead he chose us and continued to work hard he is a pretty much grounded as a player. He didn't care about money Marseille offered more than we did yet came to us.

Think it will take a lot him to leave and I believe he has just married a girl from Leicester? Not sure how true it is.

Hate to say it but can not see him here after January. Id love him to turn down a move but am sure his agent will be talking him in to cash in now while his stock is so high at the moment. Its just a case of if the board stay strong similar to everton with stones but difference being that id imagine mahrez to try and force a move if its a big club regardless of how well or what position we are in. Sad but realistic

It'll be like Zaha. Flog him for £15 million, he is not given much of a chance and we bring him back for £3 million and he's brilliant and happy again. All with a couple of nice replacements with the original transfer fee.

There has been a bucking of this selling trend recently though. Berahinho is still and WBA and Stones is still at Everton. Clubs are resisting and believe we'd try to do the same.

We're a big club. And when we finally move above and beyond United, it'll be their players being rumored to be joining us. Things are changing, Riyad isn't going anywhere.

Hopefully this.

I think we are potentially all underestimating how much money the owners want to chuck our way.

I am not ITK by the way, just have a feeling that their aspirations are bigger than the fans and they're prepared to put their money where their mouth is.

This.

Though the question then becomes, from Mahrez's point of view, does he trust the club can and will make the step up soon enough for him? Does he think it is best for his career to not wait, move on, but potentially be a flop (super doubtful) or not be a starter somewhere else?

Or does Mahrez (/his agent) believe in the club and believes that in the next year and a half the club will be in Europe? Maybe it I best for his career to stay, play as a starter, play with players he knows, play under management and coaches he knows, et cetera.

Come January, the club needs to make a statement. Don't sell anyone (important). Buy big. Show Mahrez that come the summer (with maybe a Europa league place), staying here might not be too bad of an idea.

his agent said that mahrez will never accept to go for a team that will consider him as a backup, he wants to play, he's more than happy here and also said that going back to french football is impossible since he discovred the english football.

mahrez will stay until the summer 100% sure.

I'd be disappointed if the club accepted any bids for him in January - I thought these owners value success in more ways than just financial.

If Mahrez made it public that he did want to leave though, then I doubt the club would stand in his way.

Its pretty much nailed on that we will get offers in January. Im equally sure that they will not be sold in january.

Now at the end of the seaon if they don't want to go, then i am very sure they will not be forced out the door

Whilst our owners are happy to throw money at the club,  and whgen the time comes, I dont think even they could cope with the idea of a player leaving for nothing when their contract has ran down whilst sitting on a 15 million offer with a year to go...

Why does everyone mention his wife being English? If it came to it and he had the chance of a big money move to a top European club, I can't imagine she would be too gutted to be travelling around Europe with her sexy, rich, sexy, world class footballer husband for a few years.

I wanted to go for a 3rd but didn't want to come across as too gay for the man, if that's even possible!

Great question regarding his missus though, has anyone seen her/know who she is?

So why did you start supporting "football".

It has been like this for a long, long time.
