Mahrez

It'll  be down to whether the player (agent) wants the move, the money is just an irritating  incidental.

No matter how much a player might not like the style of Man U or a Chelsea at the moment... if they come calling with contracts of 100k a week +, there is little chance of us keeping them.

And there's only a few clubs wanting to afford that kind of money, which narrows down Mahrez' options quite a bit.

Even if it's not that kind of amount, any club with prestige will be a pull to players. Big 5/6 in England, your usual suspects from Spain, Germany and even Italy. It's going to be bloody Spurs just to annoy me, one of them teams that do ok but are never actually going to win that much more than us because they consistently balls it up. We then have to watch him serve it up on a plate to Harry Fecking Kane all season.

I'm fairly confident he'll see the season out with us but after that who knows. Vardy is a bit different as he'll be acutely aware that succeeding in football takes a monumental effort and why risk throwing that all away for a supposed bigger move. We'll have to pay Vardy a monster pay rise which he deserves but I think he'll stay. Mahrez though eventually will go to a bigger club as he's destined for the top.

Assuming ManU is not Riyad's dream job, lets not forget:

>>> We have owners with deep pockets and dreams of EU in next 3 years.

  >> They don't need the transfer $$

  >> Cost and risk of finding a worthy replacement(s) is huge.

  >> Top etc can afford to pay the bigger salaries if it comes to it.

  >> Keeping our best players, helps attract other good players.

If a place in the Europe is what our owners really want then keeping Vards and Riyad will be critical to their strategy.

Wishful thinking... but hey these are good times.

I see no reason for us to sell. The owners have poured a lot of money into the club I guess for 2 reasons:

1. They want to build the King Power brand worldwide

2. Leicester City FC is a driver of this

This (should) mean that there is no reason to sell our most priced assets - Vardy and Mahrez. It would basically mean starting all over again, and no doubt the brand value of King Power is better enhanced the way we are performing and not least placed in the PL now. And going into Europe would make the brand even more powerful. Both players are still under very long contracts and by the way the clubs bidding for them are all below us - so why go to "lesser" clubs than staying at a vastly improving City playing attacking football? :)

Whilst I agree, I see very little sign of this growing of the King Power Brand.

If they are serious and want to keep making money, they really need to get into Europe and the states, with the world in the shape it is in, having all your eggs in 1 corner of the global market seems a poor business decision, I'm staggered we haven't seen a KP shop at east midlands or a london airport yet.

If he wants to go ...he goes

It's that simple really

I think we will go in summer

Vardy will stay for 125k

I can't see him leaving for another premier league side. I think if he was to leave us (which hopefully isn't soon) then it will be somewhere like the Spanish league.

Maybe if we don't reach Europe this would be a good career move too, a lot more technical and skilful so will certainly shine for any club he wishes to choose. ManUtd still of play and arrogance over big name players will probably derail his career.

He knows how loved he is here, ambition of the club etc which will hopefully keep him here but can imagine when big money is calling you can see why it can turn a players head.

Seen an article in the telegraph earlier from when we was about to sign Riyad, headline was that we was close to signing him but we was reluctant to pay the asking fee of €500,000 lol

Mahrez is gone in the summer unless we quality for Europe imo. Even if we do, if he carries on playing so well there will be a champions league club interested.

Say what you want about how ambitious the club are etc but at the end of the day we're Leicester City and if the big boys cone sniffing there's not a lot we can do but hold out for the best price

The one thing you could hope for is that the key players that form the nucleus of the squad want to continue to be part of this team. What with promotion to the Prem, last season's great escape and the scintillating form we've carried over into this season, the players must surely know and feel that they are part of something special here, just like the MON days.

Given the backgrounds of Vardy, Mahrez and Ulloa among others, you would think they are a little bit more earthbound and humble than young players coming through the academies at big clubs. And as long as the owners keep matching the ambition of the squad without dismantling it, I can see them stay together here for some time.

Heskey was off with a sniff of Liverpool... these will be the same. It's just human nature.

True, he was around the age of Schlupp at the time though and Liverpool offered megabucks. We didn't have the financial clout to turn down their offer.

Maybe the writing was on the wall with regards to MON leaving too.

That said, I'm just clinging on to the hope that this team stays together for a long time :P

125k? Bargain!

I think they'll want to give back to the club considering we gave them their chances to shine. It'd be different had we plucked them from another Prem side or whatever, but we more or less took them from nowhere and I think they'll appreciate that.

If they go to a good team I can handle it, if they go someone like Spurs I'll be pissed. About as much chance as winning something here currently and a track record of buying, not playing and selling on after another failure of a season.

Or the fact that they've come from obscurity will strengthen their desire to take their unexpected chance at playing for a big club. I don't think you can read anything into where they've cone from. They're ambitious footballers, they are most likely to jump at a chance of playing at a higher level if they get one.

Emile was a Liverpool fan at school

Any of those big teams and he'd have been off. Players are ambitious and you can't deny them that and it's fair enough, it's just frustrating. We'd virtually have to make champs league to keep the players interested.

Their are bigger teams and ones with a richer history who lose their best players to those teams.
