Goals on Sunday.. Guest, Nigel Pearson!

Will Goals on Sunday be on YouTube ? Haven't got Sky any more.

On the "Ranieri is sh!te!" issue, I didn't post it on here, but when he was appointed I thought he would be a disaster. I half-expected him to bring in a bunch of expensive but second-rate players (as Sven did) and to get rid of the individualists (like Vardy and Mahrez) who were/are typical Pearson players. Which shows two things. First off, don't post half-ar$ed opinions if you know fvck-all about football management, and secondly, I know fvck-all about football management.

Mind you, I still think he needs to make a few changes to the starting line-up.

Davie G, its not a despising Pearson thing. I certainly dont despise Pearson.

I just wish we could get away from the "Thats a Pearson signing" when talking about Mahrez or Vardy, or "Thats the Pearson spirit" when we turn a 2 goal deficit into a 3-2 win.

Will we support like this forever? Why cant we acknowledge Ranieri has changed the tactics, or said something at half time thats made an impact? Because when things go wrong we are SO quick to jump on everyones backs.......play a back 3, defence look shaky, Inler is rubbish etc

Our fan base on foxestalk is so disjointed.

Anyway back to some of the questions about pearsons interview what did he say about walsh?

Said he was an important part of his team ..... And what he didn't say was that he hoped he'd be an important part of his team when he's (NP) back in management

I'm still here Donut. I don't hide.

We've had a fantastic start and long may it continue, but I've seen this before (most notibily Taylor) so I'll hold judgement.

You don't need to dig me up, I'll be here to defend the opinions I've made, unlike others who have vanished.

How on earth can people compare Taylor with Ranieri?

One bought JUnior Lewis the other Kante.

The team is actually very different with no Wasyl, no Matty James, little of Ulloa, no Kramaric, the introduction of Okazaki, Inler, Kante and to a lesser extent Dyer and Benny. The formation is totally different, we haven't touched the 352 Pearson favoured at the end of last season and that has a considerable effect on the roles in the team.

I suppose every win will be credited by some to Pearson though, perhaps even every goal scored will be a Pearson goal, while every goal conceded and defeat will all be to do with Ranieri's growing influence.

People will remember the exceptional start that Taylor made, after O'Neill, which went on for some time longer than this and still ended sourly. Or they may remember the great start by Sven (with Pearson's players, albeit after Sousa's thankfully brief cameo) before he flooded the team with his own players and ruined it.

As Leicester fans we should know better than most how one manager's era can positively, and at time misleadingly, impact on that of the next.

When Pearson left there were question marks over whether and how he could lead us to the next stage. And there are questions about Ranieri too: Will the two most identifiably 'Ranieri' permanent signings, Inler and Benalouane, turn out to be better players than the (very) early signs indicate? Will he firm up our defence to the extent that the 3-5-2 did? Will we heed the warnings posed by our past two awful first half displays, and the very questionable team selection for Saturday?

His success will be determined by how he responds to these problems as they arise. And I'm not sure your argument about the side being very different holds up, simply because the names you mention aren't examples of our first eleven being improved upon. No, we're not playing Kramaric, but neither were we for most of our run-in last season under Pearson. And while we've added Inler, Benalouane and Okazaki, I think the jury is out on those three in terms of them being improvements on Cambiasso, Wasilewski and Nugent.

But results don't lie. And we can't get impatient when he slips up (that would have happened if we'd have kept hold of Pearson too), but we do have to wait before hailing him as an upgrade on his predecessor, at least until we've seen how well he responds to these issues as they come up, and how he adds to our squad.

lets just hope he stays put as I feel he will be a bugger loss than Pearson himself

I think i want Pearson to flop in his next managerial position, If anything to convince myself the thai's didnt make a huge cock up by sacking him.

I know I cant really complain after the terrific start we've had this season.  Perhaps I just need closure on the matter.

Ignorance. Ranieri has solid background in purchases, one even got sold for £50m to Man U

Kante was targeted well before Ranieri came in, but I think the point Matt is making is that while he's made a good start after a successful manager, Taylor did the same and as a result 6 games is far too early to make a judgement on whether he'll prove to be a success. I can't see this going like Taylor, there's a spirit about the players which from what Muzzy Izzet has been saying in the build up to his new book, wasn't there under Taylor, even from the start, but it's a fair concern.

Spot on. Taylor lost the dressing room pretty quickly by all accounts.

I think Claudio has mostly been brilliant so far but if given the choice of having the exact same record this season with Ranieri or with Pearson, I'd choose Pearson because it was great to have a club full of longevity; bucking a lot of trends in modern football and having a sense of continuity but so far Ranieri has defied almost all expectations and I hope Ranieri can outdo Pearson's success.

Will always love this man for what he did for my club. Legend in my eyes.

I was gutted when he was sacked, the plus I take from it is that he left us, footballing wise, on a high. He always progressed us. I wish him well wherever he goes. Would actually like to see him try and get Weds back into the Prem.

We move on now with Claudio. Everything has been good so far so no need to dwell. We've moved on and so has Nige. We're still allowed to enjoy the memories though.

Same here. We have moved on but as Pearson said himself - he's a 'team builder' kind of manager... Not sure if can be the same said about Ranieri who's had more clubs than I've had hot dinners. BUT hopefully he will keep on proving me wrong. Not one LCFC supporter can really compare Claudio to Pearson until 1-2 years in or even until Ranieris tenure is over.
