Where Will Nigel Pearson Go Next?

I never have linked the great escape with how Pearson portrayed himself in the media. The great escape was about signing Huth and changing the formation, not about whether Pearson called a reporter an Ostrich or did a bit of wrestling with an opposition player on the touch line.

Pearson always was a good manager of men. What he wasn't was very media savvy or friendly. Some people say he did this on purpose? I don't think he did. I think he was under pressure and it showed.

I'm sorry to bear the bad news for you, Col.

But Robert Huth's first five games as a Leicester City player saw us lose three times and draw twice. But keep on clinging onto your theory.

I also said that Pearson's actions/antics in front of the press and the cameras took pressure off the players, thus laying ground for the Great Escape to take place.

You do realise the great escape started after those 5 games?

Adding Huth to a formation that had 3 CBs was exactly how the great escape was achieved. We found a system that reduced the individual errors to a minimum. Our attacking players were able to push forward knowing the defence was finally sorted instead of tracking back in order to help out.

Im intrigued as to know what your theory is?

Probably doesn't have a theory. All he does is disagree with col no matter how nonsensical it makes him sound.

It'll be interesting to see if Pearson has learnt anything about his media persona and not being a chump off the field when under pressure.

We have Pearson to thank but we're in a much better place now under Ranieri.

It's his personality is the issue not media persona

Col is correct , and I doubt I'll write that often in my life !

I thought you'd always argued that players need a time to 'settle-in' or adjust?

You've banged on about that re. Inler for months. Don't you allow that same luxury for Huth then?

If you can't see the dramatic difference Huth made to the back four both last season and this you really don't want to look.

I go with the theory of Huth getting up to speed and a formation change, rather than some tenous link to Pearson acting like a twit to relieve pressure off the players. Which ultimately got him the chop.

I think the poster above is right..I post and you argue..

Absolutely no question I agree but the top quality team comment was directed at the likes of your Chelseas, Arsenals, Man Citys and lets be honest, Pearson won't manage at that level. I love the man but I'm not blinded by it.

Since when would a manager like Pearson get a chance to manage a club like that anyway? Lets be honest they go out and look for top foreign managers. Hughes was rightly given a chance at Manchester City before being wrongly sacked and replaced by Mancini. And that's the sort of manager they go for.

Pearson built our squad up twice. He also built the spine of Hull's side too.

I still believe that the whole squad improved tenfold and that not just thanks to the signing of Robert Huth. You look at how Cambiasso orchestrated the midfield away at Arsenal. Kramaric showing on occasions what he's capable of. The leadership qualities and tenacity of David Nugent who stepped up big time. Andy King being in the right spot at the right time at home vs West Ham. Each and every game saw another player make an defining impact. And that's teamwork. Not the magic of a German Oak alone.

In my eyes, the team showed guts and morale and simply went for it in an attempt at displaying at least some class and fighting spirit in the face of relegation.

The positive results piled up one after the other and that belief carried them through until the sweet finish.

This.

Esteban took charge for the last 9 games. I thought that was common knowledge.

Cambiasso was only able to do that because he didn't have to be in 2 minds whether to get back and help in defence.

Doesn't seem Mel wants a top manager, he wants a yes man  :(

Judging the way he runs the club we wont be joining you any time soon imo, he wants to pick the team by the looks of it and for that he needs a good a*** sniffer like Wassell, Pearson wouldn't stand for his meddling.

I've never been so frustrated as a Derby fan as I am now, because I know we have a fantastic set up and a good enough side to get up, just a pity the owner is bordering on the Fawaz level, Fawaz looks what he is though, a Del Boy, but I expected a bit better from Mel Morris, this is what happens when a supporter runs the club.

Huth was clearly the principal reason we survived. The formation change was enabled thanks to him.

His win percentage with Leicester must be pretty damn high.

If you don't go up how will the FFP situation work?

We probably are above that now, and no doubt a fine and embargo is on the way. We've probably done a Forest rather than a Leicester lol.

None of which has anything to do with the managers clown antics that were "taking the pressure off the team".

They werent, he was just acting like an idiot.

You should have stuck with Clement.

Ridiculous sacking whether your chairman picked the team, Clement picked the team, Clement was/wasnt a yes man

Youve probably wasted a chance to go up this season, and if you dont want a "yes" man and you want Pearson to change your squad around and rebuild it, youll be waiting even longer to try and get up, and probably still never will.

And the Leicester fan who suggested Pearson could take Derby long term to a level above Leicester must be on crack.

He was taking pressure off in a media sense way, that's for sure. His antics allowed his team to continue out of the limelight, focused and willing to tackle the task ahead.

Our long term plan seems to be staying in this league under an embargo lol. Mel has thrown his toys out the pram now he's sacked Clement, Mel - "promotion not a priority" -- I mean ffs mate you've spent 25m quid so what is the priority, he didn't just spend it to sit f****** around in this league surely, oh its that Derby way he talks about, fast slick passing, high pressure, high tempo, high line swashbuckling style of football, we can try that but we aren't Barcelona... but I don't think he knows what he wants after this week, promotion or sexy football or both who knows haha. one thing is certain, Pearson is the right man for the job but would need Mel to stay out the dressing room.

Shaky & Walsh will show the same loyalty to Team Pearson as they always have!

They will work with him again no doubt about that.

If they had that much loyalty they'd have left already.
