Where Will Nigel Pearson Go Next?

The only one where I think I'd argue he did it to deflect from focus on his team was the ostrich outburst (which was incredibly bizarre to say the least). The rest, I'm not feeling.

I don't see how the ostrich rant did anything to deflect the focus, the focus of that press conference should have been on how good we were against Chelsea. We dominated them for 45minutes, looked really good and if it wasn't for injuries during the game could have won it.

Instead he chose to bring up press criticism of the players. Why bring up the fact that the players had been slagged off for being shit? Even though they hadn't received anything that I would describe as undeserved.

That night he was in a weird mood I remember his post match interview on Sky I thought he sounded drunk. I honestly just think the pressure got to him, if he was trying to deflect focus it was a really weird way of doing making everyone think you are a loony or a bully. He should have been given media management training or been taken off it as he hated, he was terrible at it and it contributed to his downfall.

I would say he would.

Quite a few of their players are under-performing, and he'd strengthen that defence in terms of competitiveness and organisation.

Didn't he start his coaching career there or something like that?

He got his start a few leagues below - at Carlisle. Always remember Jimmy Glass.

Once Roeder got the sack in May 2007, Pearson managed the team for the last remaining game of the 2006-2007 season, before Sam Allardyce took charge in the summer.

On the shortlist for the Newcastle United job.

Would he keep them up?

I don't think it's to keep them up, although it's not impossible, it's more about rebuilding the team and clearing out the crap.

if we went there again wouldnt that mean he has got them relegated twice if they go down? if they did get him in before our game against them i would hope he gets a welcome reception however.

He'd sort them out defensively and would ship out shite like Sissoko in a flash.

Who's probably one of their best players when he's actually putting a shift in.

I'd be replacing Taylor, Dummet, Collocini, Riviere, Gouffran before I even started looking at players like Sissoko.

Newcastle really do baffle me. They spend so much money and yet they still have so much crap on their books.

If Newcastle want to accept relegation then they need Pearson.

If they want to make a fist of it then I reckon they go for Moyes.

Both Newcastle and Villa are both good potentials for Pearson, well-known football brands that have a crap few years but decent fanbases.

Just a shame the owners are, probably, part of why they're both struggling and losing fan support.

That's the problem, he wouldn't accept players that didn't put a shift in every single game

They deserve to go down spending £50million+ on players yet still having Collochini and Taylor at the back.

I'd take it one further and say it's completely baffling that they still have the same centre half pairing (whilst Mbemba is injured) that took them down in 2009.

Equally bafling as how whenever a manager looks like stabilising the club and moving them forwards for once it's never good enough and they get hounded out and then everyone turns around and says how well supported they are and how their fans deserve better.  They had better and they didn't want it so what can you do?

Ashley would never give it to Pearson.  Who would want him without Shakey anyway?

If his judgement in terms of appointing an assistant manager/scouting/sports science team is as good as it was here then just about any bottom half Premier League team. Really don't understand the attempts to detach Nigel Pearson from our successes, he's clearly an incredibly good judge of character and I find it difficult to imagine that he wouldn't be an improvement on McClaren/Carver/Pardew/anyone else Newcastle have had for God knows how long.

I don't think they would ever take to him. I think they'll see him as another Pardew / McClaren, rightly or wrongly.

If they'd got him in when they got McClaren in I think they'd be a lot better for it.

Why would they accept relegation? Also, what is your logic here. From what I can see, Pearson's recent record makes him the more likely to keep them up? Weird.

Maybe he could have a job just finding staff for clubs then? Like a freelance job?

Maybe a good DOF?
