Where Will Nigel Pearson Go Next?

Recommended Posts

But why not go in earlier himself? He'd have Kevin Phillips there with him, he'd have other back room staff he could make do with for 3 months.

He could go in there identify himself what needs to be changed and start the work early. He's then got a whole pre season to start the re-building job.

Or he could miss out on the play-offs with another manager's squad and get sacked again, or at least on thin ice. He almost always matches expectations when he has a full season, think I'd want to wait till the summer for a job like that if I were him.

On an unrelated note, what's the point in opening the thread to say you don't care where he goes next as some people have? He did a brilliant job here, lots of people care, if you don't then ignore the thread.

You tell em Mark,

If it were down to me we'd have a thread about what PJ's Brian Little is favouring at the moment and what Martin O'Neil had for lunch.

All my 'Where is Martyn Waghorn staying in Glasgow?' threads keep getting deleted.

Fair play and good luck to Nigel if he does move to Derby. Will probably be a great appointment for them as well potentially. Very good manager.

Absolutely, he would be by everyone I imagine, we wouldn't be in this amazing position without him.

Unlikely tbh, despite everything Nige has done for the club he still remains a Marmite figure amongst the fans. Genuinely wouldn't be surprised if some sung he was a **** or something

Some absolute wrong'uns in our support.

I don't get this certainty people have that Shakespeare and Walsh will go wherever Pearson goes especially under current circumstances. You don't see Lionel Messi leaving the best team in Spain to reunite himself with an old team mate at Racing Santander do you? So why would Shakespeare and Walsh leave the best team in England to go to Derby? Its nonsensical.

I have no feelings either way about him. He did a good job when he was here, mostly but now he's an ex manager and therefore irrelevant as far as I am concerned.

Shaky & Walsh will show the same loyalty to Team Pearson as they always have!

They will work with him again no doubt about that.

They'd need to be sacked first. I could see Shakespeare working with Pearson again but not until we allow it and I don't think he would mind staying. Steve Walsh will never work for a club that isn't top quality again judging by the reputation he has built for himself and Pearson will never manager a top quality team so I find that one unlikely. He's no spring chicken either so it wouldn't surprise me if he finished his career with us.

Odd statement, even more so coming from a Leicester fan..... Most fans would say would say he put together a top quality team here

Absolutely no question I agree but the top quality team comment was directed at the likes of your Chelseas, Arsenals, Man Citys and lets be honest, Pearson won't manage at that level. I love the man but I'm not blinded by it.

I completely agree, especially with the second paragraph. A lot of people post on threads saying how irrelevant it is to Leicester City but in the case of Nigel Pearson I don't think that's accurate. I will be following Pearson's managerial career with keen interest just like I have O'Neill. I wish him every success and I welcome any news regarding his career. It seems ungrateful that people are blind to what he has done for this club.

It'll be interesting to see if Pearson has learnt anything about his media persona and not being a chump off the field when under pressure.

We have Pearson to thank but we're in a much better place now under Ranieri.

You make it sound like Pearson didn't know how he was coming across to the press, as if he was too stupid to understand the media.

Don't you realise Pearson generally came across exactly how he wanted to (Ostrich gate, fvckoffanddiegate and strangling mccarthur aside)?

What point are you making? That he WANTED to lose his job. James' behaviour was the last straw I think. But this was on the back of a catalogue of Nigel making daft errors in his off-field behaviour. I'm wondering if he's learnt from it when he takes his next role up. I hope so, God knows I wouldn't want to see him come across again like he did in some of his interviews with the press. And to think some on here thought that he was being clever by so doing. A little bit more savvy and I think Pearson wouldn't have lost the best job he's ever likely to have.

He had lost the job once before, you know.

You make it sound as if he was an inexperienced manager when he was going through his first full Premier League season with us. What he could not prepare for (or maybe didn't) was the influence of the media and the standard of interaction between journalists and football representatives at that level. He may have underestimated the power and ferocity (and dumbness to a certain extent) or some of those media representatives. I wouldn't be so rash as to find flaws with Pearson alone, after all he's only human. I wouldn't say the same about tabloid employees, for instance.

He could've done better, but in the end he took the flak for the team and was ultimately proven right with the Great Escape.

I never have linked the great escape with how Pearson portrayed himself in the media. The great escape was about signing Huth and changing the formation, not about whether Pearson called a reporter an Ostrich or did a bit of wrestling with an opposition player on the touch line.

Pearson always was a good manager of men. What he wasn't was very media savvy or friendly. Some people say he did this on purpose? I don't think he did. I think he was under pressure and it showed.
