Brooksy Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Nigel who? The man that won us 2 titles, got us to the playoffs twice and saved us from relegation, that's who.
Donut Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Why isnt he getting any jobs? Lets just cut to the chase. Theres an issue. Hes overlooked for everything. Hes overlooked for jobs hes clearly better than some the managers that have been employed. Like fulham who opted for Jokanovic. Or Villa who opted for Garde. Its not a question of money because clubs are happy to spend the money on players, but not a man who will seemingly bring you success.
fuchsntf Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 NP, has a job. Hes in the background at the KP, waiting, for unfinished business. When Ranieri goes into retirement...

Any money Konchesky will get a recall
Webbo Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Why isnt he getting any jobs? Lets just cut to the chase. Theres an issue. Hes overlooked for everything. . Is it really such a mystery? His crackpot antics and general media unfriendliness have obviously put people off. Just because there are people on here who don't think it's important it doesn't mean that's how others see it.
Alf Bentley Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Is it really such a mystery? His crackpot antics and general media unfriendliness have obviously put people off. Just because there are people on here who don't think it's important it doesn't mean that's how others see it. "Crackpot antics and general media unfriendliness" is an accusation that could be made against several successful managers over the years. Brian Clough springs to mind and Fergie wasn't exactly a media luvvie. But if NP refused to accept his son's sacking, I quite understand why he had to leave LCFC. I'd be astonished, though, if clubs were rejecting him based on what is already in the public domain - or if they knew something worse and that somehow hadn't entered the public domain. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that he is rightly being very cautious and waiting for the right opportunity. His next job is probably make or break for the rest of his career. He will have a lot of credit for all he achieved at LCFC, maybe with 1 or 2 black marks for media relations/his son's sacking. He won't get offered a top job, but won't want a lower-league job - and won't want to go to a club with an interfering or short-termist Chairman. He might also want a club that is commuting distance from Sheffield, where he lives. Not many suitable options will become available (Boro would've been one), but I wouldn't blame him for waiting for the right one. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a new post at the end of the season, with the summer to prepare. Anyway, as far as LCFC is concerned: "The King is dead! Long live the King!" King Nigel is remembered with gratitude, but King Claudio rules now.
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 I'd suggest it's a bit of both. He made such a tit of himself last season with his off field nonsense, but of course, finally got it right ON the pitch. I think Pearson is probably a very arrogant man...He won't simply jump into a job he doesn't feel is right for him and will see himself as a top manager. I also think that some chairmen may be slightly put off with how Nigel put the club through the media last season, in terms of negative publicity off the field of play. This is why, I believe, Pearson is still out of work. The right job in his eyes hasn't come up, but I doubt he's had an abundance of offers either. All conjecture on my part of course but I wouldn't be surprised if this is what's happening.
filbertway Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 If Steve Evans can get work, then I'm sure Pearson can.
SemperEadem Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 What self respecting football supprter gives two hoots on his media antics?!
Dan Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Is it really such a mystery? His crackpot antics and general media unfriendliness have obviously put people off. Just because there are people on here who don't think it's important it doesn't mean that's how others see it. That is correct, I am however surprised that no-one has gone through with him, seen the foundations he laid here and looked at where we've gone. Nearly all of this squad and staff were brought in by Pearson. Not turning it into a Pearson v Ranieri but I think his media antics, questionable as they were, would not put me off appointing someone who can do that to my club. Maybe I'm just the minority though.
Matt Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 I truly believe that NP would have kept Villa up. So do I, Thank fuck he didn't go there!
Fox92 Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 What self respecting football supprter gives two hoots on his media antics?! It's like people ignore what Clough, Revie, Ferguson, Mourinho (and countless other great managers) were like in the media.
Corky Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 I know people speak about the long term with Pearson but the way he ends seasons is impressive. When the pressure has been on (sometimes self-inflicted) he has responded.

DB11 Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 He'd be good for Villa in the Championship. In fact he'd have been good for keeping them in the Prem but thank god they didn't opt for him then
shen Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 With our team's performances this season, his stock must surely have risen further, and more fans will hold him in even higher esteem here. It seems incredible that he's still without a job. Fair enough that Rafa gets the job at Newcastle, he has a superb pedigree, but Pearson was exactly the type they needed.

Though some could argue 'how on earth did he have that Leicester team bottom of the league for so long?' Personally I think Villa is a perfect fit. Clubs like them and Newcastle have been crying out for a manager like him for years. If he goes to somewhere like Forest I will be disappointed both for him and myself.
Donut Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 I think Villa are more likely to go down again than come back up without some major surgery to the club. Could easily become another Bolton Wanderers or Wolves, losing premier league status and then bogged down in the championship as the few good players they do have are stripped away. Nige would have a huge job on. But hes the best candidate for it.
Leicesterpool Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 If Villa want Pearson they need to react now than wait till the end of the season, cause come end of the season if Newcastle were to go down to and of course it's likely Benitez will jump ship. Then they could fancy Pearson to.
Spiritwalker Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 NP would be perfect for Villa but I don't know if Villa would be perfect for him. They are a real basket case of a club right now. Does anyone think he would turn it down if offered?
shen Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 In some ways yes. Firstly, it was his first full season in the Prem. Secondly, the way we setup in our promotion campaign was very different to how we set up now. The squad today has also been significantly strengthened by the likes of Huth, Fuchs, Kante and arguably Okazaki. Thirdly, this is a freak season and it's not certain he couldn't have achieved something similar this season. Afterall, the belief shown this season stems from the survival run last season, and the transfer targets were already identified when he left. A 14th place would have been an overachievement too according to the bookies, so who's to say really?
fuchsntf Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 Favourite , at least with the bookies. Villa should seriously try to get him on board asap. He is the man for this job.5 year plan, promotion within 2yrs, aiming for immediate return. Every club have to earn the right, but Villa should be in the PL. If no dreams or targets, they could well be in 2 Sheffields position, old big clubs...
