Where Will Nigel Pearson Go Next?

Recommended Posts

Sky Sports News have just said they believe Nige has been ruled out of the Reading job because of cost.

Not surprised. I recall when Southampton sacked him they brought in a whole new coaching team for the same amount? I swear I didn't dream that.

Not just that, mate. He's still on the payroll so he would have to be bought out of his contract just as if he was still our first team manager. They would still need to pay us compensation.

Doubt it

Imagine he is, the clubsstatement was pretty carefully worded as him being "relieved of first team duties"

On gardening leave maybe yeah, but I doubt the club could still demand compensation were he to leave. He could just resign.

Depends on the conditions of the package he got when being 'relieved of his first team duties' I guess.

Garden leave or gardening leave describes the practice where an employee leaving a job – having resigned or otherwise had their employment terminated – is instructed to stay away from work during the notice period, while still remaining on the payroll.[1] This practice is often used to prevent employees from taking with them up-to-date (and perhaps sensitive) information when they leave their current employer, especially when they are leaving to join a competitor.

Even when resigning the employer can still place you on gardening leave, I guess there are ways round it, they cannot 'force' you to do things, but contracts, e.t.c, very dodgy ground, i'm adding more fuel to the fire here and throwing wild assumptions out there again but Pearson was reported to be looking into legal action against the club/owners when he first got the chop, perhaps this is why he was considering the legal action.

I've heard from 2 sources connected to the club that: the club told him he can go and can still be paid by them, if he doesn't mention anything publically about the Thailand incident and his frustration with the press.

If he's on gardening leave then it will be because he signed a contract that allowed for him to be placed on gardening leave. There's no legal argument he can make if he signed the contract.

Chelsea? :dunno:

Why not? He did a good job with our relegation battle last year.

Also, i do not believe the club HAVE to accept his resignation... he signed a contract and he is obliged to honor it just like the club are. Him being on gardening leave is their way of still honoring the contract whilst removing him from the first team duties... The club have him by the short and curlies, i'm afraid.

Chelsea? :dunno:

We'd definitely lose Steve Walsh, if thats the case.... :(

when lennon gets the push at bolton, nige will replace him :yesyes:

If other clubs are claiming Nige costs too much Bolton certainly won't have enough cash to get him there.

Bolton haven't payed the playing and non playing staff novembers salary

Decembers might not be paid now

150-1 Pearson turning up there

Feel sorry for Lenny was sold a collect turkey there !

He will bounce back

I wonder if he'll be opening his garden to the public in the summer. It ought to be spectacular!

If Newcastle go down, that might tempt him, used to manage them albeit temporary.

But depends how much power Mike Ashley would give him in terms of selecting the team and transfers - suspecting that he's doing one or the other currently.

Derby County I would imagine now

Yep, I reckon this could be the one for him...

Derby County I would imagine now

But first, he'll have to change the Derby Way into the Pearson Way...

The foundations are laid up there, but could they afford hiring and sacking a third manager in the space of nine months?

Well to be fair Derby is about his level !

Crack on Nige

If Nige is given a full season he will get them up easy, maybe even this year.

Hope not hate those pricks !

Hope it's a total failure for him and tossers

The sun newspaper running a story on him to derby tomorrow

Derby fan on Twitter lol

"Apparantly, Nigel Pearson could be in the hat for our next manager. I hope not, cos basically the guys a complete fcuking idiot!!

How can Derby say promotion isn't their primary aim??

I will always have a soft spot for Pearson, but if he goes there I hope he fails (I highly doubt he would fail but heh).

He probably isn't arsed about managing one of our "rivals" and rightly so, we're far better than them and we are not competing with them so I shouldn't be too bothered about it either really, but fvck the sheep. I hope they languish in the championship, continuously giving their fans hope, but failing to get promotion season after season for the next 3 million years.
