Where Will Nigel Pearson Go Next?

Perhaps not a coincidence that Forest have sacked Freedman before NP has talked to Boro ?

5/1 to go Forest would have been a massive price before Xmas because it was supposedly a done deal but NP now has more than one option so they might have missed the boat

Given that Pearson projects take some time to unfold and can have quite a bumpy ride in terms of winless streaks, Forest really isnt the place to re-build your career.

Said at the start of the season, if Karanka goes, Pearson could well become their manager. It could happen.

He would be lucky for a job as good as Middlesboro to fall into his lap, but it is a natural fit and im pretty sure given the chance, he would take them up too.

Not quite sure why everything seems to be going sour there, always though Boro played some decent stuff and were very solid defensively.

I don't like him as a man but he is 100% entitled to be considered for the Boro job

Why on earth would he be lucky?

Why on earth would he be lucky?

Getting a chance to see a team over the line that's in a great position? Opportunities like that rarely appear. Especially at this point in a season.

Actually your spot on he would be lucky on the opportunity appearing

He would be lucky because how many teams lose a manager who are likely to go up automatically with a quarter of a season left?

Its an amazing opportunity that would never normally open up.

So he'd be as lucky as anyone getting the job?

Yep, do you not think it's a pretty fortunate position for whoever gets it?

Yeah in some ways.

But the post I quoted from Donut made it sound like Nigel wasn't worthy of the job.

No it didnt.

That was your interpretation, which was wrong.

I said he was lucky, not unworthy

Yes, it did.

You said that Nigel Pearson would be lucky to get the Middlesbrough job. That reads as though you think he's not good enough for it.

In my opinion, Middlesbrough would be lucky to get Pearson in. You're right in saying that it's not very often that these jobs become available, but it's even less common that there is a manager as good as Pearson available.

Personally I think they'd both be fortunate. Borough would get a good manager, Pearson would walk into a good job with a squad capable of getting promotion at a club he played for.

Win win IMO.

Yep, they'd both be crazy not to accept each other should the opportunity arise.

I also think that Nigel would be mad not to jump at the chance, and maybe not so insistent on getting in his own staff and come in and work with Aggers, if Karanka goes some of his staff will too, but not all.

If I was Pearson I would go on an interim basis, take them to the end of the season and go from there, if it goes wrong it is all Karanka's fault and he can walk away. It does seem the perfect job for him.

.... and if they go up it was all his good work.

It would be similar to Ranieri coming in here, you have to give credit for keeping the previous manager's work going without fvcking it up, and then zlowly build your own style.

If NP got Karanka's team up credit would be shared, then he would have the pre-season to prepare them for the PL.
