Countryfox Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Tough match against a top team that will probably finish in the top three ..... but due to the scoreline easy to pick lots of holes and highlight a few negatives ... However, on the plus side have we learned anything .. 1. Kante is a real gem and should always start unless off form or injured. An excellent buy for us. 2. We are going to have problems at the back with pace especially in the centre so we must keep looking for a CB with pace and vision. 3. Three at the back must be considered for certain matches as an option ... it would help with the above ... 4. Plus point !! Maybe clubs will hold back with a big bid for Mahrez !!! .. (Not overly impressed today and thought Albrighton was unlucky to go off). 5. Vardy is playing consistantly out of his skin but needs some goal scoring help .... anyone banging them in in the Championship ? .. Anything else ... ?

Tom's Pasta Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Cambiasso would have loved today, needed that smart experienced midfielder organising everything and breaking up attacks and I would have actually wanted to bring inler on rather than King. Today required us to be more organised and I don't think we quite got the balance between attack and defending. The positives are that we caused Arsenal a lot of problems and should have gone 2-0 but we were too fragile when Arsenal countered.

With the defence we have at present we cannot afford to try and contain teams as we will concede. We went toe to toe in the first half and were pretty well matched. Only when we went 4-1-4-1 did we look massively up against it. Why did we do that btw?

I'd always prefer having a go over parking the bus and playing damage limitation but a bit more tactical nous and it is possible to find the middle ground. We just looked wide open to their incisive counter attacks today, especially down Jeffs side who had a mare.

Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Positive is we can cause one of the best teams in the country real problems at the back and at times we are just irresistible going forwards. We won't lie down and accept defeat even at the expense of more goals we will not settle for a 1-0 defeat. Our fans, particularly Union FS are awesome, loved the noise and the cheers when even at 5-2 down. Lessons learned, we are not good enough to play our own game and beat a top 4 side, we need to be able to just close up and keep possession for a while, after going 1-0 up we were too sloppy in possession and it was a real shame we couldn't just hold out a bit longer and start to make Arsenal feel the pressure. I think that was Ranieri's thinking when he brought on King, just tighten it up for a bit and then make a late push for the equaliser/winner, but it wasn't to be. I think we all knew Walcott up against Huth and Morgan was a mis-match and he was going to do them for pace. Would have been interesting to switch to 352 moving RDL into the middle just to give us some pace at the back. I also think we lack that leader on the pitch get the players to calm down tell the full backs to stay back, that is the biggest loss with Cambiasso leaving. To be better we need to be smarter.

They're gonna get space to play whoever they play against, I just find it frustrating that we made it so much easier for them. Would've preferred to see 4-3-3/4-5-1 today myself with Inler, Kante and Drinkwater central. We'd have still had the same intensity we've had all season but just that bit more protection. Of course it's only conjecture to say this would've changed the game or the result but that is just my opinion on it all.

We have something special going forward. It will probably win us more games than it costs us. Possibly. stick with it. Improve personnel via form / fitness / transfers as and when, but essentially accept that if we play that brand of football we will occasionally get a walloping. But our points spread over the season may be more balanced if we stick with it. I need another beer or two to get to the bottom of my own idea. Might hate it in the morning.

Agree with all of that. So how do we replace Cambo ... Or can we get him back .. Don't laugh ... The guy loves to be loved so why not have the next big flag saying " Esteban we love you please come back !" ... I'm filling up thinking about it

Not putting our chances away before they equalised was a killer. If we had gone 2-0 I think we would have beat them. Obviously we didn't and they really took control of the game, but I'd rather have a good go at teams like we did today than be west brom and play 10 defenders in the hope of a 0-0 draw.

Don't think so (pressure from above) ... I think he puts in a good shift, runs his boxxoks off and goals will come .... Certainly way above Kramic for me
