Callabinho Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 Like an accomplished Premier League side. Yesterday was an excellent performance in more ways than one, mainly down to the little tinker in the dug outs. Decision making is better, substitutions more often than not are spot on and the set up from the start was bang on the money. We've certainly lost that soft underbelly we had last season and looks like we've gained a world of experience since last seasons impossible escape.. Very exciting times ahead foxes.
Fox92 Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 Only thing that worried me was we always seem to sit back. Norwich had us on the backfoot second half, nobody can deny that. It happened just the same at West Ham. I was very worried Norwich were going to make it 2-2. We should have sealed the game in the first half. The amount of chances we didn't take was unbelievable. That said, I do agree with your overall post. I'm more confident than ever going to games these days. Good win yesterday, Norwich aren't exactly pushovers.
CosbehFox Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 Made a point last year that some games are won off your PL experience alone. Last year we were schooled by the likes of WBA and Palace at home. They weren't much better but they knew how to control the game. Looks like we are picking it up.

With the style we play, we are likely to find strong periods of pressure against us in most games. So far we have dealt with it very well.
Callabinho Posted 4 October 2015 Author Posted 4 October 2015 It's only natural that the opposition as many have said have periods of sustained pressure, however bar one or two moments Norwich were kept at arms length. One of the key factors is we are starting to dominate pretty much every midfield we come up against, which massively helps.

davieG Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 We'd look even better and be under less pressure if we stopped giving the ball away so easily when under no immediate pressure.
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 They say after ten games you get a true reflection of how the league will pan out, at this rate we look real contenders for a place in Europe. We really look good this year, Claudio has carried on building from nige and it's wonderful to see.
Frank to be Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 Not just an accomplished premier league side but also the best side we've had in the modern era. Whether we'll finish as high as we did at MON's peak I'm not sure, but as a footballing side I'd say we're now better than that team even if we're not quite as effective just yet, if that makes sense. Certainly, this is the most entertaining Leicester side I've personally ever seen.
fleckneymike Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 Let's wait to see where we are at the end of Jan. The Christmas to new year run is horrific, if we can emerge from that without a raft of consecutive defeats then we can look towards mid table.
foxfanazer Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 We seem to have got ourselves into the group of teams like Swansea, Palace and Southampton rather than the Villa's, West Broms and Sunderlands. TThe quicker we can get to that 40 point mark the better then we can really dare to dream. We have some issues that need ironing out. Defense looked better yesterday but still a little shakey. We need to be playing a striker with Vardy that will chip in with goals (Ulloa). The creativity of chances is amongst the best in the league right now so if we just become a little more clinical we could give some teams a good hiding

Different Gravy than Pearson!

Even with a bad December we should still be looking good.
Fox42 Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 Ranieri has added technical know how.. His substitution decisions have turned games.. Different Gravy than Pearson!I got the feeling over the seasons that Pearson made changes for the sake of making changes... "Oh, you're tired? Fine, I'll replace you with whoever."

Even with a bad December we should still be looking good. I have us to get 8 more points by early new year. It is more the impact on morale of those fixtures that concerns me (not to mention our profligate defence).

ARM1968 Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 Wouldn't be surprised if we add another 12pts betore Jan - we're magic you know
richardsfoxes Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 I would take survival now but potentially if we continue without injuries i think a top 12 finish could be done, we will know more by Xmas like everyone has said.
Webbo Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 The way the bottom 3are going we will be safe by Xmas. Also see us having more than 22pts by Xmas. I haven't looked at the fixtures but I'd expect us to have 25+ by Xmas.
Webbo Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 Also if we're still in the top 8 by the time the window opens I can see the owners giving CR a load of money to get us over the line.
bovril Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 They say after ten games you get a true reflection of how the league will pan out, at this rate we look real contenders for a place in Europe. I'd be flabbergasted if we are still in the top 6-7 come the new year. We don't have the strongest squad, especially up front, and our goals against column suggests we'll be closer to the bottom 3 than the top 6 at the end of the season. Survival is still the aim. But then I'm usually wrong about such things.
filbertstreet Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 I haven't looked at the fixtures but I'd expect us to have 25+ by Xmas. Southampton, Palace, West Brom, Watford, Newcastle, Man U, Swansea, Chelsea and Everton before Christmas. Should scrape a point or two there Boxing Day we've got Liverpool then 2 days later we've got Man City, ouch

This is the Premiership..the most competitive division on the planet. I don't think we as much 'sat back' as we got 'pushed back' by a confident side, playing at home and buoyed by a lively crowd. Norwich were always going to have their spells in the game. They were the pre match favourites yesterday. The result against the canaries was an exceptional win IMO. You're correct, we could have finished it off in the first half, but strikers miss chances, players make mis-passes etc etc. Why I think we are better this season is for two reasons: - we have a stronger squad with more strength in depth. - we have a years worth of experience in the Premiership. Schlupp, Vardy, Drinks are all flourishing now at this level. Long may this continue..we're fourth for God's sake! Brilliant.....
FoxyJim1987 Posted 4 October 2015 Posted 4 October 2015 15 points from 8 games is amazing really. It means unless we have a horrific run of defeats we will comfortably stay up, which is job done. Even if we take a point a game over the next 10, 25 from 18 is mid table form. Need to focus on getting max points from watford, newcastle, west brom.
