Merging Cultures Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Not to step on SMX11's toes, but it is a bad policy becuase it's yet another piece of corporate welfare sold as policy to benefit ordinary people. The big money behind it was from the Pharmaceutical lobby and the 5 biggest health insurance providers in the US, who have since seen thier share prices and profits sky rocket. It's a plutocrat trougher's wet dream since now it is written in law that people have to buy their product. It hasn't benefited ordinary people since now insurance rates are increasing to pay for people who weren't insurable before. This will benefit the troughers even more since they'll probably get a nice big subsidy from the American tax payer to try and keep rates down. Pre Obamacare health care was an awful fascistic mess thats now only been made worse and will continue to be made worse by the next piece of legislation. I agree with s lot of what you say. But unfortunately, American politics is all about compromise. It was the best that could have gotten past a partisan congress. But I wouldn't say it was that terrible given it has brought lots of people into the healthcare system. I don't know where you are from, but you have an 'interesting' take on American politics.

MPH Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Really? Say what you like about the guy but he's a massively skilled orator if nothing else. Well he's a graduate from Havard law school and was president of the Harvard law review....
Vossen Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Depends on who's got the most money in the good ol U S of A...Americans vote on character not political debate... That's why the UK follows them, instead of Europe... It's a crime really but that's the future.... Guns boms & murder on the streets...were foooked
Guest MattP Posted 16 October 2015 Posted 16 October 2015 Really? Say what you like about the guy but he's a massively skilled orator if nothing else. Hugely skilled orator but he's boring as batshit isn't he? He must be the most boring black man to ever walk the planet aside from the guy on the Chase. (Not that it matters btw in terms of presidency)

That's why the UK follows them, instead of Europe... It's a crime really but that's the future.... Guns boms & murder on the streets...were foooked There's a hefty load of fools who vote on tradition and historic relevance - similiar to the UK in that sense, people unaware of the 'other side' because they've always been told and learnt that the other side will never be greener. The media controls who wins the primary, the public help the media pick the president. You won't win it without moderate media support. Money is a major factor of course - but appearence trumps the lot. I suppose many of Trump's opposers have listened to one or two of his policies and made up their mind, without reading in to the actual policies he would impliment differently to the previous administration. Likewise Bernie Sanders.
separator Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Trump wants to ban all muslims entering the US http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-35035190
The Doctor Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 And of course he'll do it by race, so expect to be victimised if you're a hindu or sikh.
Guest MattP Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Trump is the biggest media troll there has ever been, it's hilarious.
Footballwipe Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 What's to stop a "muslim" or someone who attempts to resemble a "muslim" while actually being a psychopathic terrorist 'converting' to Christianity etc on official papers, name etc, legitimately getting into America and committing his act of terror? It's completely unworkable. Trump seems to be getting more outlandish as if it's a "go on, I DARE YOU to elect me." Either that or there's a three hour documentary after all this called "Trump - blowing the door open on bigotry in America" where we find out he's a secret Democrat and follow his campaign as his team come up with more extravagant statements to show up how backwards some of the USA is. I'm going to believe that version because the alternative is scary.

Guest MattP Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Trump is actually only 3/1 to be the Republican candidate now, what the actual fcuk?
leicsmac Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 Trump is actually only 3/1 to be the Republican candidate now, what the actual fcuk? As much as I would like it to happen as it would give Hillary or Bernie an essentially free ride into the White House, I can't see the GOP establishment letting him get near the nomination. They'll pick Bush or Rubio.

And come on, Bernie is as much of a joke candidate as Trump is, just from the other side.
Rincewind Posted 8 December 2015 Posted 8 December 2015 How do you actually spot a Muslim though? It is quite possible for an American born citizen to be converted as is the same with other religions and cults. There are people born in Muslim countries that are atheists although they do not brag about it much. Banning an ideology does not work. McCarthy tried it didn't he in the fifties?

Yeah, I just stuck him in there on account of there not really being any other Dem candidate than Hillary to talk about. I think Hillary v Rubio would be very interesting and a pretty close battle.
