Thracian Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Nothing against Cambiasso but the Captain... pretty much mirrors my view. Either way Kante's a terrific asset and so fitted to the team ethos.
Itsthejoeker Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Had a friend who was at the Arsenal Olympiakos game, said Cambiasso did nothing but run around after the ref begging for bookings and free kicks.
chicagofox Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Absolutely not. Kante is far more valuable to the team than Cambiasso was.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Had a friend who was at the Arsenal Olympiakos game, said Cambiasso did nothing but run around after the ref begging for bookings and free kicks. oh and set up the winner?

Babylon Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 That header second half where he not only beat his man, but beat the bloke by about half a foot in the air. Amazing!
Dynamogoon Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Both quality, but said today, Kante is one of the best all round midfielders I've seen in our shirt
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Would I replace Kante with Cambiasso in this team? Not a chance in Hell.
fraddonfox Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 If Drinky James and King didn't learn anything last season they were never going to learn. We are now reaping the rewards of having Estaban with the addition of Kante
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Imagine being friends with Col "Alright? Fancy meeting up at the pub and agreeing with me about some things?"
LanguedocFox Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Watched Kante and Drinkwater today and they so trust each other. Some of the interventions and passes just made me smile. I loved Cambiasso, and I wish we had kept him this one last season, but wouldn't swap Kante for anyone.

Guest ttfn Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 No but I wouldn't swap Wes Morgan for Cambiasso either. If swap Drinkwater for Cambiasso though as well as Drinkwater's playing.
filbertstreet Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 i'd swap inler for cambiasso, that'd be a fantastic bench
AyewJoking Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 This may be the ginger wine talking but Kante is a god. So many hero's in our team at the moment but this guy is something special.
Charl91 Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Would I replace Kante with Cambiasso in this team? Not a chance in Hell. Now there's a surprise.
Wymsey Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 No, but yes. Although Kante has been excellent so far, Cambiasso was/is better technically. Some of Cambiasso's set-plays and shots have been world-class. imo.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 This. Kantes terrierism breaking up and feeding Cambiassos vision... I'm pretty sure I said this t'other day. Would be amazing, but prefer this midfield to last year's...
shailen Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Vardy and Mahrez have got the headlines this season and well deserved but this guy and Drinky have been exceptional. Kante has it all - defensively very good and I mean very good. Going forward he's decent and good on the ball. What a little player he is
Dan Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 No. Cambiasso is a fantastic player, but Kante's more suited to the way we play, is younger, and has hit the ground running even more than Cambiasso did.

A 2 man midfield in the PL needs 'legs'. EC had terrific stamina but not the pace to play in a 2. That's the difference now. DD also has more pace than EC so our two man midfield is able to compete against the three's they are coming up against. Remember that until we went 3 in the middle last season we were over run most of the time. It's unfair to compare - EC was a class above nearly all players on the pitch last season but to ask him to do it 2 v 3 was a tactical flaw and exposed us too much. those dissing EC's contribution to us still being a PL side are the same ones that will be doing the same to NG next year if we buy someone like medel.

Exactly... We were over run most of the time........ This midfield is much better than last season's. It's making most of the difference. It's not as creative and it doesn't get you goals like Cambiasso did. But you could see yesterday (for anyone that wanted to look..which really is the issue here), that Drinkwater and Kante have far more stamina and control over the tempo of the midfield than Cambiasso. His legs had gone, especially in a midfield two. I return to the point I made last season. Until we went three in midfield and changed up the defence, we were going to be relegated. Having Cambiasso in a central midfield two would have been a big factor in that relegation. People might not like it, or want to accept it. But it's true, Now there's a surprise. Why, would you?
foxinsox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Kante is a great tackler, no team plays possesion football well against him, but his passing anf football brain is nowhere near as good as EC. DD seems to have learnt a lot last year though, so good to have the two as a combination. Cambo hassled the ref a lot in the Olympiakos match, but he did the same when playing for us!

Yet we're conceding far more goals this season than last. Around this time last year you were attributing virtually every goal we conceded to Cambiasso failing to track runners from midfield. So what's going on this year?
