Len Finsbury Posted 31 October 2015 Posted 31 October 2015 I can understand the fans not being happy with a change in shirt colour and badge but surely even at that level the fans want success. If the club ever does get league status, and by that I mean that the 'class of 92' might just lose interest, it'll be years away and the club would have attracted a whole new fan base from the 'one man and his dog' that attended before the takeover happened.
sdb Posted 31 October 2015 Posted 31 October 2015 Loved the show and as much as I really admire those players (especially GN), I could empathise with the fans for sure. The heart and soul of the club was being ripped out and like one guy said - Utd and City are just around the corner if you want that sort of deal. Very catch 22 as it seems to be the only realistic route to success now.
Carl the Llama Posted 31 October 2015 Posted 31 October 2015 I thought Gary came across as a bit of an arrogant twat with little time for dissenting opinions tbh. Â Am I really the only one who sees that? Â Nearly died of cringe when he phoned Scholesy to get him to play an FA cup match and spent the ensuing conversation completely ignoring the not-so-subtle hints that he thinks it's a terrible idea. Â Imagine it actually happened and you were one of the players who got dropped from a cup match to make room for 2 retired men - who have done nothing to earn their place save buying the team - because it might sell more tickets.Â
ramboacdc Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Gery Neville is very astute can see him going far in business and international management. i thought this but thought giggsy was more spot on in his ideas. he is still in the game and knows how hard it is to add coaches and replace managers mid season.
Voll Blau Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Young men are stupid with money, that's never going to change. Am I the only one that thinks what the class of 92' are doing here is totally wrong? The people involved clearly don't want to be a league club, one that tries to advance through throwing money at a football club and having billionaire owners. It's looks like a vanity project to me. Â Completely agree with you. Like the point I mentioned about them changing the club colours and badge, they're just doing it all for a bit of a laugh.
simmo1977 Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Gary Neville "What would you say if I asked you to play on Saturday" Â Paul Scholes "Shambles". Â I thought they all came across quite well, it would be easy for them to go in thinking they know everything and they are always right, I personally thought Gary Neville sitting in the changing room at half time and not saying anything was quite good, must have been hard to resist sticking his tuppence worth in. Â And Phil Neville admitting he'd been a rubbish owner for six months as well. Â Looking forward to the next part. Â Thought it was a bit bad of Gary Neville to say "I've come back to watch the game, oh and to see my kids".
ScouseFox Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 yeah the bit of neville sat in on the team talk and instructions was mad if you think about it. the bloke is basically second in command for the england national side and he was sat there watching some part timers argue with their manager about getting the ball wide quicker Â
Stadt Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 I'd just support FCUM if I was local, I'd be a bit pissed how they just see the club as a playthingÂ
StanSP Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Just started watching this now. Â Some of the facilities are horrendous!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 November 2015 Posted 2 November 2015 Great watch. Phil Neville seemed out of touch with the coach being late for training after work. Seems ridiculous to expect that nevermind voice it. GN worries me full stop with his Rooney/Kane/Vardy comment to Carragher the other day.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Enjoyed the first episode, looking forward to part two.
Fox92 Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Great watch. As expected, Gary Neville seems the most vocal and the one with all the ideas. Â Didn't realise Danny Webber and Jason Jarrett were at Salford!
Darkon84 Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Completely agree with you. Like the point I mentioned about them changing the club colours and badge, they're just doing it all for a bit of a laugh.  The area has usually been associated with red, not just United though, like the Rugby League team. The previous kit was orange, which wasn't the teams original colour either, wasn't it navy?  I'm not really fussed, just playing devil's advocate.
MooseBreath Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Why didn't they just start a new club? I sympathise with the fans. Most fans want their club to succeed but not at the expense of a total transformation in status. Even if LCFC get into the champions league through owner investment one day we'd still be recognisably LCFC and it wouldn't be a massive departure from our historical status as a club that usually drifts between the top half of the prem and the lower half of the champ. For Salford getting into the football league will mean they're totally unrecognisable from where they are now. It'll be success but it won't really be Salford.
Fox92 Posted 3 November 2015 Posted 3 November 2015 Many, many clubs have changed their kit colour. Leeds changed to white to be "like Real Madrid". Wonder what the reactions were like then?
ScouseFox Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 best bit about tonight's was when phil neville described how much talent the "class of 92" had as a collective "we", as if he or nicky butt had the same amount of talent as giggs and scholesÂ
simmo1977 Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 Bit harsh that on Nicky Butt, i think he was a much better player than people gave him credit for. Â I seem to remember Pele singing his praises after a world cup once. Â I agree though that Giggs and Scholes were a cut above the others.
goose2010 Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 It did make me laugh with them throwing a party on a Thursday night, seriously what did they think was going to happen?! plus the players need to man up I used to play my best football after a skin full on a Friday or Saturday night!
Fox92 Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 It did make me laugh with them throwing a party on a Thursday night, seriously what did they think was going to happen?! plus the players need to man up I used to play my best football after a skin full on a Friday or Saturday night! Â I thought that. I loved how (Gary) Neville was like "they'll struggle on the Saturday if they drink on a Thursday" but threw the party anyway
Wymsey Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 Much prefer Phil. Â More laid back and more alert than Gary.
Kitchandro Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 Why didn't they just start a new club? I sympathise with the fans. Â Totally agree with this and MattP & Voll's posts. Â No respect for these guys whatsoever, they clearly do not value this club and it's fans.
Kitchandro Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 Many, many clubs have changed their kit colour. Leeds changed to white to be "like Real Madrid". Wonder what the reactions were like then? Â I don't know but that's really not the point is it?
Fox92 Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 I don't know but that's really not the point is it? Â They changed the kit colour, big wow. It was orange anyway so red is a slight variation. You wouldn't fvcking care at all if it wasn't for this programme. You take it too far, "do not value the club and it's fans", yeah that's why they keep putting their own money into the club. Â As I said above, many clubs have gone through the same transition. I used Leeds because they are a good example. Me, you and most football fans recognise them for playing in white now but they never used too. Don Revie completely changed the Leeds colours when he took over, but success followed. So do you rekon the fans look back and hate that decision? Shankly turned Liverpool to all red and Taylor wanted to include red in Watford's kit - oh look Watford have had red in their kit ever since. Â Salford are non league (it's only due to this programme you're banging on about it), so if Salford get success in red - say, promoted to the football league - nobody will care in xxx number of years. It'll just be another kit change. You do realise they changed their club name to "Salford City" in the early 90's? Was that such a terrible decision as well?
VLC86 Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 Much prefer Phil. More laid back and more alert than Gary. Alert? This is the person that tweeted he had gone for a wank on the beach in Spanish top stuff.
Stevosevic Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 Phil Neville comes across as a really nice decent guy. Â Hard to dislike him tbh,Â
