HighPeakFox Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 First of all, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so you're wrong there. And whoever said it's a 'conspiracy' thread, clearly doesn't have a clue what a conspiracy is. I loved Nuge, by the way, and want him to do well at 'boro.
Webbo Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Don't know what trumpet you are blowing, but I know no one is joining in... we have great respect for our best players during the championship season that got us here and survival last season. I hope this thread gets removed Well I'm not removing it.
Matt Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I like Nuge, but his last year here was a year too much imo, I got frustrated by him quite abit last season (Not like me to get frustrated with a player....). People claimed we were a better team with him playing last season, I agree to a certain extent but the chances he missed last year didn't excuse him. He was a great player for us, but it was best of all parties for him to move on.
ScouseFox Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I said to reach the next level and move on from relegation scraps we'd have to replace people like Koncheksy, Hammond and Nugent. They just weren't good enough for this level and so it's proved. In place of them now we have Fuchs, Kante and Okazaki.... to be a better team we needed better players, fabulous insight
The Blur Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I love it when someone said something blatantly stupid that rest of us can get away with insulting the poster in question without the fear of getting banned. INSULT AWAY!
Fox92 Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Nugent played a big part in Vardy's development. Some of the criticism Nugent gets on here in particular is fvcking stupid. Since Dickov left we always wanted a player that'd score 15 goals for us in a season and with Nugent we got that. His contribution at this club was superb, he deserved his chance in the PL here, and I'll always like him for what he helped this club achieve.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Late entry for worst thread of the year award!
theessexfox Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Even last season Nugent was a big part in how we played, and played a role in us staying up, not to mention his being top scorer in a play-off season and then a title-winning season. How did we cope, carrying such a dreadful player?
The Blur Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Late entry for worst thread of the year award! I thought the poster was you for a while and was puzzling over why someone normally solid like you has came out with a shit statement
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 to be a better team we needed better players, fabulous insight Feel free to check the mammoth Nugent thread from last season where people were defending him and trying to say he was good enough for PL level when every week he was consistently missing big chances in big games which cost us points and left us needing a miracle. Despite liking him I constantly said that he wasn't good enough (pretty much from the moment we won promotion) and that we needed to be ruthless in binning him - maybe fairly straight-forward and simple now but you'd be surprised at the amount who were letting sentiment blind what we were seeing week-by-week. With the benefit of hindsight that insight might not seem so fabulous but it was still the same this time last season. Of course then it couldn't be considered fabulous insight as anyone who questioned Nugent's capability were tagged as a hater/ungrateful/a scapegoater. It'll be same for Boro if they go up this year. In that circumstance to stand the best chance of staying up the first thing they should do is replace Nugent (even if he scores 20+ this season in The Championship).
Mark_w Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 David Nugent held this team back, his slow football brain hampered us. People thought Vardy could only play well with smiley in the 10 role. Whereas you seem to have thought he couldn't play well at all. Maybe best to avoid 'I told you so' threads with that sort of track record.
My Nads Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Nuge was my favourite player while he was here. He enjoys playing football, he has a fantastic attitude and he was brilliant for us. Always had a smile on his face. I just can't see how a Leicester fan can be so negative about him. Goes without saying, we would not be sitting top of the PL now without Nuge's valuable contribution over the last 3-4 seasons.
Guest Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I'd like to go on record saying that vardy and mahrez are holding us back, and once we've signed ronaldo, messi, suarez and neymar you'll see i was right.
themightyfin Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I would love to see Nuge now with his big cheeky grin reading this thread thinking what an absolute tool you are.
(.) (.) Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 David Nugent held this team back, his slow football brain hampered us. People thought Vardy could only play well with smiley in the 10 role. Proof is in the pudding. You'll disagree and the thread deleted because this is Foxes Talk but you can't escape the obvious. Wow.. Thanks for that. I'd rather have Smiley than our current 4th choice striker.
ceebeefox Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 And I have been saying for weeks that Nugent would have done everything that Okasaki has done ( dropping into midfield doing the unsung hero bit ) but would've weighed in with 4 or 5 goals too.
Guest Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I genuinely thought this thread would have been started by "Col"
Steven Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 yep, exactly. without him we would have easily reached 138 200 points in the promotion season Don't let incorrect facts get in the way of a good argument.
desertfox2 Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Why post such tripe? OP sounds like a right barrel of laughs. Nugent always put in a shift and was a big factor of us being promoted. Is he better than what we now have no. Does that mean him leaving made us a better side no. Can't believe anyone would be so disrespectful to someone who really gave his all for the club and when he left got us a very good transfer fee. If Nugent ever plays against us he should be given a round of applause before the game starts.
EnglishOxide Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I said it for years... Conrad Logan was holding us back...
