Danny Drinkwater

I felt sorry for him that his worst performance of the season was against the team he probably wanted to do the best against. He has been terrific this season though and has built a formidable partnership with Kante. United was always going to be a tough game to dominate the middle of the park so I hope it doesn't knock his confidence

I thought he'd pulled off one of his world class goals with that first time shot he took

I'm a big fan of Drinkwater's energy and thought he was ok first half yesterday. Second half he was really poor..just kept giving the ball away. It can't have been easy in the 4-4-2 cos Utd just flooded the midfield. But Drinky looked tired actually.

It seemed everything he did went wrong yesterday. A few misplaced passes, he was mistiming tackles and nearly scored an own goal. It was his worst performance of the season but he has been absolutely superb in every other game.

I agree col, I thought he had a poor game but it wasn't easy, United made a conscious effort to target him.

Again, it shows how far we've come.

Without the ball he did well yesterday, good positioning got stuck in etc.. Just kept giving the ball away. Though he didn't have the same out let's as we were slightly deeper yesterday.

He wan't at his best yesterday. He supports United, doesn't he? I know they're all professionals but I wonder if playing against your own team has an effect on you psychologically?

He's earned an off game, to be fair and regardless of Man Us current style of play, their midfield contains some quality players. He won;t face players with that much experience every week.

I think if anything he probably tried to hard to impress to show them they should've never let him go but he lost his focus imo.

DD wasn't at his best yesterday, but how many Prem appearances has he made? And look who he was up against. Still very happy with a point and to witness history being made!!

I'm not complaining.

We out played United for good periods of that first half and created some good goal scoring chances through out the game.

Not bad since they are a regular top four side and are quality.

Drinkwater and Kante did more than fine yesterday.

I think that he was starstruck. Maybe this performance will be an important learning curve for him at this level and he will relax and play better in the up and coming big games.

Eveyone is allowed an off day. The improvement in Danny since pearson has gone has been great its like CR has taken the shackles off

I suspect it's much more to do with the presence of Kante alongside him.

Have to be fair here he has been outstanding all year

Yesterday was a bit of a poor show , but everyone entitled to that

United have 300m worth of talent performing like that every week over last 3 years !!!!

I suspect it's much more to do with the presence of Kante alongside him.

Totally agree

He didn't have a bad game through hiding though. He was forever involved and when players are involved their mistakes are there to be seen.

As others have mentioned United's playing five in midfield left us outnumbered and the game screaming out for us to use another passer like Kingy instead of Okazaki, who was so inconsequencial.

If ever a team was pleading for more passers it was ours yesterday and Shinji's not a notable passer. He's a harrier and United coped with harriers by simply making them run further.

You cannot keep giving the ball away against energy-sapping opponents and you're never going to win a passing battle if you're short on numbers where the action's thickest.

I totally agree with you. He didn't play well but at least he kept trying. It is hard when your overrun in midfield. That's one of the problems we have to resolve going forward. We need another creative midfielder who can defend and also get forward.

Maybe we have him in the squad already and he just needs a run in the team. AK.

He left in the summer mate.

Thought he was OK yesterday, just not the same level as recent weeks. Unsurprising given he was playing against a very good, very conservative opposition midfield.

I think any two central midfielders for us would have looked out of sorts yesterday. They just had too many men in there, very talented ball winning midfielders as well that are smart enough to know where and when to let Drinky have the ball.

Both DD and Kante were stifled by the tactics of United. They were outnumbered and deliberately targeted. They will both bounce back and when you consider they faced about £100 million worth of 'talent' in the centre yesterday they did ok.

United's dull, nullifying tactics will help us this season as they are bound to take points off the rest of the top 6, probably by drawing.

What would people put his market value at? You see the likes of Delph and Joe Allen going for big money and I don't think either are close to DD's potential.

I'd put him at £15-20m easily
