maddog Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 Get him back for Man City and I fancy him to nick a goal, he's due one.No chance of a Drinks goal. He never gets in the opposition box and he can't shoot for toffee 97% of the time.Still badly need him back, missing him, King is OK but he's nowhere near top of the Premier League standard. Drink's passing range and quick movement of the ball brings Mahrez into the game more. King is all about the sideways/backwards passes mainly.... Which is fine when you're bottom half but not when you are top of the Premier League.

Vicki Vixen Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 Get him back for Man City and I fancy him to nick a goal, he's due one. Has to hit the target first, which he has struggled to do all season. Mind you, he looked gutted when Vardy opted to shoot at West Brom for our 3rd, when DD would have had an open goal if he'd squared it.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 I'd only like to see him play if he's properly 100% fit considering we have Bournemouth to play this Saturday too. I really hope he is fit and ok to play, as he's been magnificent this season.

They take a period of time and there's a shorter period before it's healed when you feel absolutely fine and as if you can play no trouble. Even practising with a ball might be no trouble because there's never quite the same commitment required as in a real game. But, it's the first uneasy stretch or instant acceleration that's the test and will find a player out if the recovery wasn't complete. Then there's an even longer lay-off. And sometimes a lasting psychological concern.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 People saying Drinkwater had a bad game tonight. Dunno what game they were watching, must of been a different one to me.
filbertway Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 Came on here to say I thought drinky looked pretty boss. Won the ball back so many times and looked pretty good on the ball. Lots of quick first time passes in the opposition half when we decided to attack.
foxfanazer Posted 29 December 2015 Author Posted 29 December 2015 Did so much defensive work tonight. Obviously been missed by some
foxes21 Posted 22 January 2016 Posted 22 January 2016 With Amarteys signing, this is the midfield I wouldn't mind seeing. Drinkwater Mahrez Amartey Kante Albrighton Amartey & Kante would be perfect for our high press, pressing with Vards and also the ability to track back. I think with Drinkwater in this defensive role, he could control a game, much like scholes and has the ability to get forward too so it wouldn't be that defensive. What do you guys think?
Gerard Posted 22 January 2016 Posted 22 January 2016 Drinkwater in the Pirlo "quarterback" role whilst Kante & Amartey are like two pit bulls with a rag doll.

LAprice_ Posted 22 January 2016 Posted 22 January 2016 How about putting Amartey at CB alongside Morgan... It's just an idea. Okazaki is genuinely one of the first names on the team sheet at the moment. I wouldn't drop him for anyone.

I think Amartey would be a better DM / holding midfielder. Especially if he has the experience at CB.
GingerrrFox Posted 22 January 2016 Posted 22 January 2016 Drinkwater in the Pirlo "quarterback" role whilst Kante & Amartey are like two pit bulls with a rag doll. I think this is the way Ranieri will go. He clearly wants to play 3 in the middle in the future and before we signed Amartey, Inler and Drinkwater struggled to play together as both want to dictate play with the ball. People suggest playing Amartey in a holding role but that would waste his energy and physical presence to get up and down the field. Playing Kante and Amartey box to box with Danny floating more in between the lines is the way to go for me. Danny's got the passing range to really pull that "Scholes/Pirlo" role off.

I'm not so sure myself, I think he'll sit in front of the back four and Ranieri will utilise his centre half skills to make that third defender when need be as our full backs will be expected to get forward more.
richardsfoxes Posted 23 January 2016 Posted 23 January 2016 Problem with the 4-3-3 is where are the goals going to come from, If Mahrez and Vardy aren't firing, Albrighton rarely scores, Gray is unproven, Danny never scores, so for me it will be a massive struggle for the moment, perhaps in the summer with players coming in we can do something but not now.
HoustonFox Posted 23 January 2016 Posted 23 January 2016 I think we will (or should) stick to 442 with 2 box to box midfielders providing drive and energy from the middle but also holding for the wingers to rampage behind the 2 strikers. We all saw the value of playing 442 on Wednesday as once Shinji came on, the gap between the midfield and strikers was closed. With 451 the gap was too big. DD, "NG" and Amartey are not float behind the front two type of players and we've seen from DD especially that his finishing is not the best. I like him in a middle two opposed to that quarterback / regista role. Not sure that role really works in the EPL and also not sure his game is best suited to being that deep. He is more of a slide rule passer than a long passer for me. Often his long passes are either floated or over hit. Love him as a player but he is a box-to-box guy for me.

benpicko Posted 23 January 2016 Posted 23 January 2016 He hasn't scored but he definitely has it in him and has been quite unfortunate a number of times already this season so I bet we'll see some wonder goals again from him soon

Yeah I can see us buying a new right back in the summer, someone more attacking (Arias?) and going with this system some of the time. 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 at others.
Loggy88 Posted 23 January 2016 Posted 23 January 2016 Been superb this season, much improved compared to last season, just could do with adding a couple of goals to his game, if he could chip in with 5 before the end of the season that could be a big help. Would like to see a striker come in before the end of the window to ease the pressure on Jamie. We also need Riyad to get back to his best.

Okazaki is genuinely one of the first names on the team sheet at the moment. I wouldn't drop him for anyone. Whilst Shinji is definitely improving and has a good work ethic, he's still some way from being undroppable. He lacks control of the ball and doesn't score enough goals for me. He's playing better than ulloa at the moment but that's not hard! If ranieri gets a quality striker then he'll become an impact sub.
