Guest ttfn Posted 13 January 2016 Posted 13 January 2016 The table is bull shit. His H2H record is what counts, and he's lost about twice in 20. He's lost about twice in 20 because he never predicts more than 2 goals for anybody. Maybe that's good punditry, but having West Brom and Leicester net 40+ points wrong is bizarre - I reckon you could ask any of the under 11s I coach to predict game by game and they'd be closer than that. I do something similar every week with a mate at work - I think we're both about level with Lawro but I'll check tomorrow - it is harder than it looks - but I'd bet my bottom dollar neither of us have Liverpool unbeaten (my colleague is a Liverpool fan) or West Ham in the bottom 3.
MC Prussian Posted 13 January 2016 Posted 13 January 2016 If you want go first Alex I'll set a thread up. Full fixture list for next week though not just us. I'm game. Can't be any worse at predicting than Lawro.
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 January 2016 Posted 13 January 2016 yeah go on then. set it up from now. Was gonna do it different person every week in a thread....everyone can have a go like but one forum member per week contributing to the score. I'll get it going.
Jimothy Posted 13 January 2016 Posted 13 January 2016 It's not his prediction so much that piss me off, it's the reasons. He can predict we lose every week for all I care if he can give a better reason than "I just don't fancy them to win this one" or " Surely Leicester's form must end soon" I mean he's paid to write this shit, and he's given a decent enough sized section for each game, yet all you get is some waffle that's got **** all to do with that actual game followed a completely irrelevant statement and a nonsensical prediction. It's not just Leicester, it's every prediction he does. If he actually summarised the team's forms, which players are playing well etc and then based a prediction on that I could stomach it, but instead he just produces a page of bullshit with ten aimless guesses.

But do you honestly not just see that that is just him thinking "they've got to drift back to mid table at some point"
foxes_rule1978 Posted 13 January 2016 Posted 13 January 2016 But do you honestly not just see that that is just him thinking "they've got to drift back to mid table at some point" But his only reason for that thinking is, we are Leicester... which isn't a reason at all. Why do we have to drift at all? everything I am seeing tells me we won't
Finnegan Posted 13 January 2016 Posted 13 January 2016 Sorry Mablo but you're defending the indefensible. I read Lawro's predictions most weeks and they're crap. We've got a prediction league going at work, I'm currently top of about thirty five people. Lawro would be lower mid table at best. There's never any obvious logic to his scores, he pays no attention to trends. He even frequently recognises a team are doing well, compliments them on their form, points out the other side are bobbins and then still puts them down to lose based on nothing in particular. If he was a betting man he'd be skint.

Why do we have to drift at all? everything I am seeing tells me we won't Granted but he had 20 teams to look at it and most seasons there's an unfashionable team that get themselves into a good position then fade away
Guest ttfn Posted 13 January 2016 Posted 13 January 2016 Granted but he had 20 teams to look at it and most seasons there's an unfashionable team that get themselves into a good position then fade away And in his mind it's West Brom's turn this year!
Jimothy Posted 13 January 2016 Posted 13 January 2016 But do you honestly not just see that that is just him thinking "they've got to drift back to mid table at some point" Well give me a solid reason, other than it just because we're Leicester, and I might respect his prediction. I can actually understand predicting we'd lose tonight, but he had us down to lose to Swansea a month ago. A Swansea side that hadn't won in 10, when we were 2nd. He can think we're going to drift all he likes, but that's a ridiculous prediction, especially when the only reason he gave was that he just thought we'd have to lose eventually. Yeah we will Mark, but actually think about what you're predicting rather than just saying we'll lose every week knowing that if you throw enough shit it'll eventually stick.

No it is just because we are Leicester and he fancies us to drop off. It's hard to predict football results it's as good a reason as any.
Jimothy Posted 13 January 2016 Posted 13 January 2016 No it is just because we are Leicester and he fancies us to drop off. It's hard to predict football results it's as good a reason as any. Well that's not a good enough reason to predict the team 2nd in the table to lose to Swansea, sorry. Freak results happen, but their freak results because nobody in their right mind would predict them. Like Finnigan says he often acknowledges a teams good form compared to a teams poor form, yet still predicts a loss for the poor team. He's paid to offer and insight and what he's doing is just guessing based on nothing, predicting and guessing aren't the same thing.

Well no it is, form switches at times, us at West Ham last season for example. He fancied them to pick up, fancied us to drop off. It's his opinion My main point aside from the fact he does actually predict enough results to win every week, is that predicting football is not a strict science, if it was the general public would rich and the bookies poor. You want to call him a **** for the way he is or the fact he ridiculously thinks Alaska is a country fair dos, you want to call him out for predicting results, you have a go.

Well then he's not using form to help him predict his guesses (and they are guesses), is he. Expecting a team to lose because they've had a run of good form isn't the work of someone who knows a thing or two about football. He tries to be clever and it makes him look like a tit week in week out. He's like a stubborn old man who refuses to acknowledge we're a good side and some of the bigger names aren't what they used to be. If I took a 12 year old into the bookies and told him to pick the results for every Prem game over the weekend, you'd get pretty much the same results as what Lawro would pick.

themightyfin Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Interesting Stat. ML Level stake betting to £1 stake for each of his results since the start of the season +£87.65 profit. Seems hes not that bad!
ARM1968 Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Don't care what the bloke says or what his reasons are. Just as long as he keeps predicting us to lose. That's all we need for a shot at the title.

You'd actually be thrown out of the bookies as nobody under 18 is allowed on the premises at any time. So I'd advise against it.
fuchsntf Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 He's predicted us to beat Villa 0-2. Fcuk sake NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO.. We are doomed, doomed I tell you..!!!!! Na just realised, phewwww, its alright, its ok, we are safe, he predicted only a 0-2. Its a 1-5 win all day. Lawro will be wrong again.

I don't think I said I was going to do it, but thanks for the advice! The 'if' implied it was a hypothetical scenario,
