Mark Lawrenson's Predictions

I've just obtained an exclusive, sneak preview of Lawro's thoughts on our title run-in. For those who are interested, here it is.

BBC: We asked our resident football expert, Mark Lawrenson, to cast his eye over Leicester City's unlikely Premier League title challenge and predict just how the season will end up for Claudio Ranieri's Foxes.

LAWRO: Leicester have surprised a few people this season with some of their results and I've been impressed with them myself once or twice when I've seen them on MOTD. I certainly wasn't one of those pundits who thought they'd go down this year but they've exceeded my expectations so far.

BBC: So how do you see their remaining fixtures panning out Mark?

LAWRO: Well, they've done well up to now, but they've got some tricky looking matches coming up and I think the pressure on them will begin to tell.

Leicester v Southampton - Ronald Koeman has done a brilliant job at Southampton and his team consistently punch above their weight.  The game earlier this season ended 2-2 and that's how I expect it to finish this time too.

Sunderland v Leicester - The Black Cats are in a relegation dogfight, make no mistake. But in Big Sam Allardyce they have a manager who knows how to mastermind a survival battle. I see Sunderland winning this one 1-0 with a late winner from Jermain Defoe.

Leicester v West Ham - The Hammers have been another of this season's surprise packages and they've done well in the FA Cup as well. And in Payet, they've got my player of the season. I think West Ham have got enough to win this game 1-2.

Leicester v Swansea - Swansea looked in real trouble a couple of months ago and what happened to Gary Monk was very unfortunate. But the Swans have steadied the ship in recent weeks under my old mate Alan Curtis and I have a sneaking feeling they'll get something at the King Power. I won't push the boat out for a Swansea win but I think they'll get a draw there. 0-0

Man Utd v Leicester - Louis van Gaal hasn't silenced all the critics yet and some results have been disappointing to say the least but Old Trafford is always a difficult place to go to. I don't think United will quite have clinched a Champions League place by the time this fixture comes around so they'll have plenty still to play for and more than enough to beat a team like Leicester. United to win 4-0.

Leicester v Everton - What a Jekyll and Hyde club Everton are. World class one week and Rymans League the next. But it's always been that way on Merseyside. So which Everton will turn up for this match? It was Mr Hyde in the game at Goodison Park which Leicester won 3-2. Everton's players might be wanting to catch Roberto Martinez' eye with a possible FA Cup final appearance on their minds, so i think Dr Jekyll will visit the East Midlands and inflict a reverse of December's scoreline. Everton to win 2-3.

Chelsea v Leicester - Chelsea have flattered to deceive all season but they're still a massive club and their players will be keen to put one over their former manager (whose name escapes me for the moment). They've got nothing to play for so the pressure will be off and I fully expect them to sign off the season in style. Chelsea to win 5-0.

BBC: So your final verdict Mark.

LAWRO: Strong finishes from the 2 Manchester clubs and Arsenal will pick up enough points to claim a top 4 spot. But I just have a funny feeling that this is Tottenham Hotspur's year. Liverpool are looking strong right now and I can see them doing something crazy like winning the Europa League and finishing 5th in the league. Oh, and Rafa will keep the Magpies up, no doubt about it. Newcastle are too big to go down.

BBC: But what about Leicester?

LAWRO: Just can't see it I'm afraid. They'll finish on 68 points which won't quite be enough for the Europa League. Having said that, finishing 6th is an amazing achievement for a club of their stature and they can be very happy with that. But if they want to take that step further, you really a need a manager who's a proven winner. Someone like Graeme Souness or John Barnes. You never know, I might have a bash at this management lark myself one of these days.

BBC: Thanks Mark. See you next season.

LAWRO: No worries. My pleasure.

This whole thing is too comical.. i don't believe Lawro said that..lol  :D

So we are going to bottle it lose 2 games not scoring and conceding nine in the process.

2 points from 21

I predict we will get not less than 78 points

I know there is pressure on us but Spurs are under more now

The last 3 games have been different games the ones they said we would struggle to win

We are grinding it out

we have players who have won leagues before

So come on you blues please be fearless

Surely that's got to be a spoof. Either that or the sign of a man who is mentally unhinged. It must be a spoof.

Trouble is its all too believable from Lawro. He and Garth Crook should get together for Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest. Too funny.

I bet at the end of the season he'll say he knew we'd do well and didn't want to rock the boat.

The very fact that you are in two minds as to whether or not it's a spoof tells you what an accurate spoof it is

The scariest part of that is that you can't tell if it's real or not.

You missed the bit out where he said that if Leicester go into the final game of the season 4 points clear of 2nd I can still see them being caught.

Perfect spoof until this: Lawrenson would (in all seriousness) suggest "an ambitious young manager, like Gary Monk or - if you could tempt him away from Blackburn Rovers - Paul Lambert."

Mind you, that's nit-picking. Absolutely brilliant "I can hear the thatch-haired pillock saying that" laugh with every line.

The only fault I can pick in this is Lawro tipping West Ham to win, they are the only team he tips to lose more than us! I think they are in the relegation zone in Lawro's league table.

But well played sir, the rest could have come straight from the horse's mouth.

Under Lawrenson's predictions we have the worst GD in the league.  lol

The useless twat has probably never heard of Kante, Mahrez or Vardy.

That column in the table is for difference to the actual league position, not goal difference.
