Izzy Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 I don't get to see my beloved Leicester week in week out anymore like I used to, and I'm missing it like crazy at the moment. I went religiously between 1985 and 2001 and then my life changed and I moved away with work and had a young family etc. Since then I get to the odd game, but it's not the same. I follow us from a distance and watch every game on a dodgy stream, but nothing beats actually being there. For those of you with a ST and who love going away, I envy you and hope you're having the time of your lives right now. What's happening at the moment is truly incredible and I hope those of you going every week really savour this special time. Any other saddos out there like me?

Yeah same really, I went every gome home and away but the last five years my missus worked the weekends whilst I worked the week so we could bring up our kids. Now they are both in school I'm itching to get back but can't because of the current demand. It's a shame but at least I get to watch all games through streaming.
The Doctor Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Yeah - missed most of the last 4 years for university (6 hour round trip at £30 a pop + tickets not viable on a student budget), graduated and back living in Leicester but the demand makes it bloody difficult to get hold of a ticket.
ScouseFox Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 I've only missed two seasons in the last eight or nine years, the one when we won the championship and now this one . going Chelsea though, first time I'll have used my season ticket since spurs

Stay away!!! P.S. have a great night on Monday mate, I'm dead jealous...
Collibosher70 Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Regular right up until 5 years ago then marriage went...so with having my kids and work commitments only attend about 5 home games...miss it like mad...but I'll be back when things change

I miss it like mad too. Hopefully I'll be back with you one day...
tom27111 Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Had a season ticket from when I was 9 in 1989 up until about 2006. Don't live in Leicester anymore and don't get down very often, a couple of games a season of I'm lucky. Never miss a match as I religiously watch through a dodgy American TV subscription! Pisses me off that I've been through all the bloody hard times and can't get a ticket when I want to and travel back for a game. Where were all these season ticket holders during the Pleat years? Obviously I don't have a divine right to go, but I'll still be there if we end up back in league 1. You have to question how many other people would be. Going to the Spurs FA Cup match in the home end. I'll just have to behave myself! It's the only thing I miss about living in Leicester.
Mikey Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 I had a season ticket from 2005-2011, used to go 10-15 away games a season too from 08 onwards, and a few before that as well. Went to uni in 2011 and only made about 5 games in the 3 years I was there. Didn't really miss it to start with as the home match experience was so poor to be honest. Since finishing last year, I've started playing football Saturday's. Go to games whenever I can, if it's midweek, Sunday or got a Saturday off. Missing it a lot last couple of years! Already made 3 this season and going Chelsea, Bournemouth and hopefully one of the Spurs. Not quite the same as going week in, week out though!

It's funny because back in the 80's and 90's we never any issue with demand or getting a ticket . Just shows how far we've come and even more reason to expand the stadium I guess. I'm sure when you get a top job having graduated, you'll be albe to afford the best ST in the house Doctor.
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 And there's me about having a breakdown because I may miss the first 15 mins of the Chelsea game.... Making the most of having no commitments other than a Monday Friday job and a girlfriend after hearing you guys!
SecretPro Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Due to a change in family circumstances I can neither get to or afford to go to the KP any more. Been tragic really to have to watch our meteoric rise via cricfree. Football isn't a working class sport anymore thats for sure.

Making the most of having no commitments other than a Monday Friday job and a girlfriend after hearing you guys! enjoy having no commitments in your life while you can mate. Those years under MON as a single man were the best days of my life. What I would give to trade places with you right now...
Mayofox Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Went home and away for around 25 years, until moving to Ireland in 1997. Still miss not going to matches, but I don't feel less of a fan because I'm watching from the comfort of an armchair. The price of tickets has gone up a bit, I hear!
Vacamion Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 I used to attend regularly when I lived in Leicester, was a regular just before and at the start of the Brian Little years. Since then, when living in far flung bits of the U.K., I've gone to 2 or 3 away games per season (I've seen us in some utter turd grounds in the North of England) and 1 or 2 per season at home (less available since we improved). Pretty much every game I've been to see us up in was a dispiriting draw or a loss. I am jealous of you guys that can go to games, but the Internet allows exiles like me to follow us in a way that wasn't possible a couple of years ago. ☺️
Far Post Gerry Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Yep, started going as a kid in the Pleat era. Been living overseas for more than a decade now and don't often get back. Managed to get tickets for the Man City game though - can't wait.
Dan Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 I couldn't go without it. I've no intention to change it. Then again, circumstances change so who knows.
bluebeau Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 I have been a City supporter for around 45 years & a season ticket holder for many of those years, but as I now live in Spain, it's not possible for me to get to see them at The King Power. However I watch them on Sky Spots every Saturday on Match Choice. I always avoid finding out the result so that I can really enjoy the game. It's nowhere near as good as being at the ground but it does satisfy my 'craving' ! In all the years that I have followed City through thick & thin including the whole season in League 1 (3rd division in reality) there has never been a season like this one. The O'Neil era was great but even that does not compare to the present brilliant season City are having. I know Claudio & the guys won't say it but I will, imo we will finish in the top 4.
Riot Van Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Haven't missed a home game since I was 6 but I'm off to Uni next year so it's going to suck...
Bryn Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Never lived in Leicester, never been able to make more than 5 or 6 games a season. Sucks.
Richard Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Last home game was Bolton around Christmas 2013. Been to more games in the home (wrong) end than I have the KP since I came up to Scotland for uni. I actually have a day to kill in London the same day as Spurs in the cup so gonna try get myself a ticket. What's the best bet?

urban.spaceman Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Had a season ticket between the age of 15-19, over the Peter Taylor/Mickey Adams years - basically the last two years at Filbert Street and the first two at the KP. We couldn't afford a ST before that but had managed to get to 5-10 games a season in the 5 years previous, including the occasional away game (Villa/Derby). Then I went to Uni. In Wales. Managed to get to Cardiff away for 3 years in a row (my dad met me 'half way'; I don't think we won a single game). I've desperately wanted a ST since but haven't been able to afford it and general haven't been available. Have travelled a fair bit in that time - lived in Arizona, Southern Africa and New Zealand, but since being back here have had to work every Saturday so getting to the KP means spending a lot of money plus losing a day's pay. So the most amount of games in a season recently was probably 8 in League One. Managed to see 5 in the champions year, and only one last season (fvcking Hull). Went to West Ham cup game and will be at Bournemouth before I move to Cape Town for a few months, but the ambition in the next year or two is to a) sort my bloody life out and b) get to a point where I can afford and be able to attend matches in order to have a season ticket. Having grown up going regularly it's kinda devastating to not be able to be there every week. But it doesn't ever cheapen being a City fan - being in THAT pub next to THAT Man Utd supporting friend on THAT day will forever be one if the greatest moments of supporting this club. Walking into a bar in Zambia to find City playing Palace on the telly and getting all the locals to cheer us on is something I will always cherish. I might often have to rely on dodgy streams, dodgy streams in dodgy pubs, Stringer's commentary, Stringer's commentary played through Skype at 3am in the morning in New Zealand, Twitter, the BBC text commentary or the match thread in this forum, but it all makes being a Leicester City fan worth it. My heart will always be at Filbert Street, regardless of where I am. I don't half envy you buggers though.

I was trying to construct a bed at the time. Had to give it a rest for the afternoon. The mistake was having the radio on.
