J.Lisemore Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 I'm another that had been going down as a ST holder for 15+ years and done plenty of aways, Watford play-off semi was my last season. Due to the glory boys coming back its been a ball ache to get tickets nowadays.
ithuriel Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Went quite a bit during the 90s to early 00s, then sporadically until the 10s then started going regularly again, getting a season ticket for the return to the prem. Seen some good times and great matches with quality players but to balance it, I've also seen some absolute dross. The promotion season was fun apart from worrying about missing the final match of that season due to the glory hunters, thankfully I had kept enough ticket stubs and got to enjoy it. That persuaded me to get a season ticket but even then I often go to the cup matches too when most of my friends do not bother, though since we were promoted there are peeps I used to see down the footy who do not go anymore because they cant get tickets.
foxfanazer Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Me! Moved to Norfolk a few months ago and since then we've lost 1 game so maybe I should stay away Back in Leicester on Monday but can't get a ticket
Bayfox Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 From a slightly different point of view. The club are possibly the one main reason I am still in Leicestershire have considered moving down to Devon or Cornwall a few times and the wife has been offered jobs in Norfolk and Cambridge in the past. But I hate the thought of not being able to meet up with my mates on a matchday. Since having kids my life and finances have changed a lot and the football is the one thing I have refused to stop doing. Living away and not being able to go, would still make me proud but I would miss it massively.
old koppite Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 My username says it all really Same reason- location, but did get to Norwich away this season- great day! Also I work with a few deluded Norwich fans!
Vlad the Fox Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 enjoy having no commitments in your life while you can mate. Those years under MON as a single man were the best days of my life. What I would give to trade places with you right now... Oh yes, what times to be young, free and single where the only commitment was to stand your round. It really was a most fabulous time, a real social sub culture developed around the City and that team.
Vlad the Fox Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 I've had a season ticket for about 25 years so home is no problem for me, but I really miss away games. I used to go all the while, including the pleat years when you'd be lucky to see a draw, I can remember Gary Mills scoring in a 1-0 win at Stoke to mark our only away success in about 2/3 seasons and we celebrated like we'd won the cup. But as the years past, and house and family commitments took hold they got less and less, down to a couple a season. I managed a couple the year we got promoted, though now I have no chance as tickets don't make it past priority. My kids are getting older now so I would like to start taking them but getting tickets is hard and unless there is a kids rate expensive. But I miss passing other City fans on the motorways, the feel of tense excitement as you walk to the ground amongst the other fans, hearing the City fans as you approach the ground, the footy smells of somewhere new, the damp and rain (always up north ) once you get around barnsley way, walking out onto the terrace and hearing us out sing the home fans. And the immense feeling of pride when we win. Aahhh, you cant beat away days. Up the City.
Dr The Singh Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Me, can't afford the time or money these days, I more enjoy 'the crack',of pre and post match drinkypoos
HighPeakFox Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 I suspect I would try to go more if my far-flung mates of yore were there too..........otherwise, it's too expensive for me to justify all the travel and so forth. I have the memories of plenty of O'Neill era matches though, and plenty of good times under Little too (especially the iconic Palace Cup match from '92).
Pegosteve Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Was a regular in the Bloomfield years, but moved into retailing when I left school and left Leicester in 1981, so my games have been very spasmodic since then. Have lived in Spain for10 years and since our Division 1 season Ive only missed listening or watching when on TV a handful of games . I get to Australia every other Christmas and Im up in the middle of the night there. I miss Filbert St, although Ive only been to the KP 4 times the atmosphere at the QPR end of season game last season was incredible and its continued into this season it must be thrilling to be there every home game at the minute. If I had endless supplies of money then I'd have myself a ST and fly in for every game but I don't!!
bovril Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Had a season ticket 96-2001. Stopped going so much when I first went to University then got back into it around the Rob Kelly era (for social rather than footballing reasons) and went to most matches home and away. Moved abroad one month after Mandaric took us over and only go to a couple of games a season now. I miss it greatly. The pub, the Chinese for lunch on Grasmere Street (Singapore noodles on a winter's afternoon), the walk up to the ground, the turnstiles, the sound of the seats in the double decker flipping up as everybody stands to get a view of the cross coming in from the left....
Great Boos Up Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 With kids 4 of us got together and got 2 season tickets then share the games. It worked really well until we got promoted and my mate died. He owned one of the tickets which then expired and we couldn't renew. The other ticket owner didn't want to sit on his tod so gave it up. From div 1 to to champions and we all couldn't carry on to watch Any PL. Expand the stadium please.
ajthefox Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 I had a season ticket in the 09/10 season and was going to 3/4 away games every season around that time but since I moved to Liverpool 2 and a half years ago I've not been to a single game. Miss it like mad, nothing makes me homesick for Leicester apart from seeing City. Managed to get a ticket to Everton on saturday on the exchange thread, so so excited!!

Mad Dog Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 I live in San Francisco now. It's gutting not being able to go to games, away days were my favourite thing.
Spudulike Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 I live 145 miles away and it'll be a long drive home on Monday night. Worth it though.
FoxCal Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 The most I've missed of a season since I started going was the promotion season the other year. Moved down to Wycombe for university (mistake, because Wycombe.) and basically knew I wouldn't be able to make it every week, but I still renewed my season ticket because I didn't want to lose my seat (I'm pretty attached to it haha). I'm fortunate that my dad is in a rep job because it means he can come get me and work around here at the same time, but usually goes out of his way after work so I can get home for the games. What a guy. Mind you, I get to very few away games now, the last I managed was Bury in the cup.
Izzy Posted 12 December 2015 Author Posted 12 December 2015 Moved down to Wycombe for university (mistake, because Wycombe.) You think Wycombe is bad mate, try living in Aylesbury. I'm your very poor neighbor
Izzy Posted 12 December 2015 Author Posted 12 December 2015 I live in San Francisco now. It's gutting not being able to go to games, away days were my favourite thing. I love San Francisco, it must be a great place to live I'm sure you'll be pleased to know it's freezing cold and pissing with rain here as usual :xmaslaugh:
Sammy Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 This is my first season away due to uni, absolutely killing me (while also loving our incredible season)
Phube Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Was a regular from 1997, season ticket holder from 2001 until 2007. Then got married and had a kid. And I've been to about 5 games since... Although I got the O'Neill years, I also suffered the later dips. But so gutted in missing it now. Am trying to get my daughter to her first game this season (when it's warmer!). Can bet when I can go again we won't be doing this well!!
chapero82 Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 I don't get to go this season and it's really getting me down had to be the best season we have ever had too so far!
Devonfox1884 Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 At least streams are available on a weekly basis, that's my saving grace.
