chicagofox Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 You don't need pace to be a winger. Why do you consider Bournemouth to have two-bit fans?
filbertstreet Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 You don't need pace to be a winger. Why do you consider Bournemouth to have two-bit fans? they're like blackpool 2.0
LCFC95 Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 Man City signed him on my FIFA 16 for £25m. Must be good
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 André Carrillo had signed contract with Sevilla until 2019 According to a Sevillian environment, 'Culebra' have reached an agreement with the 'nervionenses' and arrive in the coming days André Carrillo would be new player of Sevilla of Spain, which have signed until 2019, according to a Sevilla half. "According to the same medium, according to André Carrillo would be complete. His contract would be until 2019 but his club, Sporting Lisbon, find out the lion's share of the Peruvian, that contract ends in June, "says ElSevillista.com on his Twitter account. Probably the Sevilla managed to pay 15 million euros demanded by the chairman of Sporting Lisbon, Bruno de Carvalho, the clearance by the 'snake', which would have delayed the transfer. http://www.latina.pe/deportes/futbol-internacional/andre-carrillo-habria-firmado-contrato-con-sevilla-hasta-2019-17599/
TJB-fox Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 Imagine him and Mahrez on the wings with a decent 10 behind vardy, this would be a top signing. Our recruitment now needs to be top notch quality to take us to that next level, as I think we've currently got an average-decent premiership squad (that is overachieving). To maintain current levels and really push on we'll need to make signings like this I think. Make it happen Claudio!
4everfox Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 I'd love us to sign Carrillo but the fact that we have already signed a winger tells me that we probably won't
Dan Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 I am going to assume those who are talking about Porto's sacked manager realise that Carrillo plays for Sporting? EDIT; Didn't realise they had been linked. I think he'll end up at Sevilla. They're shrewd as hell that lot.
Vindaloo FOX Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 being linked with Barcelona today, I can't see us pulling this one off . one striker and maybe one CB , that is all we need I feel .
Jimbo Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 I hadn't counted Gray because I'd not seen him play other than on video and Dodoo won't be consequential to this season. Of the players on view so far I'd only call Mahrez a real winger (maintains the width if he wishes, takes people on, accurate crosses and a goals threat). Albrighton's more a wide player who delivers crosses but doesn't really have the pace to take people on and isn't a significant goals threat. Dyer's slipped way off my radar as a Premiership winger and Schlupp's not got the crossing accuracy to be considered a genuine winger in my estimation. Nor is he really a reliable marksman. I accept we all see these things differently but that's my take. I'd only add that I was delighted with signed Gray who may well turn out to fit the criteria. So he's a winger then????
Legend fox Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 A winger is some one who can take a defender on to get to the final third to cross the ball. There for a winger does not need lightning pace but does need the ability to take on a player. Eg G Best.
Tuna Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 Lots of twitter rumours of links to various Spanish sides. Think this one is finished!
Gerard Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 It seems strange that we haven't been mentioned when it's a 100% certainty that Carrillo will be signing a contract or pre contract with someone this month. We know he's highly rated by Leicester because we were bidders in the summer. I'd be annoyed if he has signed for Sevilla without a second thought to us as he knows he's really wanted in Leicester and I'm sure we could offer a better financial package than the Spanish team.

st albans fox Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 why on earth would someone who speaks Spanish as their native language want to play at Valencia rather than Leicester? crazy! Next!
Jacnah Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 Lots of twitter rumours of links to various Spanish sides. Think this one is finished! because of what you read on twitter???? Have you learnt nothing from every transfer window in the last 5 or more years?
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 why on earth would someone who speaks Spanish as their native language want to play at Valencia rather than Leicester? crazy! Next! Wouldn't his native language be Brazilian?Edit - My bad, just realised he's Peruvian

Or at least he was after a few weeks of the season.

The Doctor Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 Capabilities in abundance but not my idea of a winger. Cruyff, Tom Finney, George Best, Derek Hogg, Lennie Glover and Cliff Jones were more what I'm thinking of. Styles change of course but, for me, you need four things from wingers. Pace, penetration, accurate crossing and the ability to score goals. Nowadays there's compromise. Wingers have to defend til they drop. Trouble is it takes a toll on the other things. Albrighton is essentially the classic chalk on boots winger with an excellent delivery - that he chips in defensively doesn't make him not a winger, that's the daftest thing I've read on here. Matt Oakley in 2009/10 was a wide midfielder, Albrighton is a winger.
