One win against a distinctively lacklustre Palace side means diddly.

We are a good team. They are a very poor side at this level.

Draw....

If Villa are going to give us a fight, we'll be up for it. We can handle ourselves away.

This...

One of the features of Martin O'Neil's sides was the belief..The willingness to fight for 90 mins. This current team has that in abundance. Rarely have I seen a City side with the fight this team has. It's great to see it. It started under Pearson and Ranieri has somehow taken it up a notch.

Well here goes were due a spanking 0-5 they have looked shocking we score and the fans will boo and leave in droves. Vardy and marhrez due a goal or two . Villa due a stuffing .

Albrighton last minute screamer in front of the Hoult End!

4-3 after being 3 down at half time.

Vardy, Drinkwater, Fuchs and Albrighton.

If we go down 3-0 to that shower I'll be sick.

I'm excited - surely it's not long till we can get the "Teams that mathematically can't catch us" thread going

Probs after saturday the way Villa are heading.

could be tough this one but you'd hope we'd have the quality to win this one, we've won pretty much every game away like this all season so lets hope that continues.

villa need to start winning more home games to stay up and i think this will play into our hands as they wont be just sitting back for the 0-0 and will give vardy and mahrez space in behind. I'd start:

Kasper

Simpson Morgan Huth Fuchs

Mahrez DD Kante Albrighton

Ulloa Vardy

Bit harsh to drop okazaki but i seem to remember him doing nothing in the reverse fixture and we like to play ulloa against the poorer teams who play a little deeper

Earliest possible point from here is the 6th of February - if we win our next four and villa lose their next four then they can't even theoretically catch us

Like every game these days, I'll be píssed off if we dont win.

Think I've said it before but Villa really do need to be winning games if they want to have a chance at staying up so this could probably work in our favour.

If we turn up, we'll win comfortably. Simple as.

3-0 City.

I'm sure Swansea, West Ham, Southampton, Newcastle and West Brom thought that about us at the end of last season. We can't take anything for granted, and should know what teams that look dead and buried are capable of better than anyone.

That said, they don't seem to have the togetherness we had when we needed to get off the bottom. We should win but football is a crazy game sometimes.

I'm not worried by their result in midweek. If anything it's made me have the opposite effect. I'd be a lot more scared about being the first team to lose to these in 21 games even though I don't think we'd lose anyway, but hey ho.

Palace are bang out of form themselves and it took an absolute joke bit of goalkeeping for Villa to score. I think we're that bit too well organised to blow this. We got out of jail at home to these but we're a better side now than we were then. 0-2 Leicester. Our only two threats in Vardy & Mahrez to hand us another three points that don't really count because it's an easy game (which Man City didn't win).

SO many examples now of these 'easy' games where we've won and the 'real' top 4 contenders have lost/drawn.

I'm glad they won against Palace.

I know the team would approach the game professionally but if you don't respect the opposition in any sport you can't help but switch off slightly.

Hopefully this is a reminder that they aren't total patsys and we need to be totally on our game to beat them and not just turn up and expect them to roll over.

Attitude and homework is the key. And what a good day for our players to win for the boss and show him they don't want him to even think about leaving until we've not only won a place in Europe but earned respect for being there and started to win the kind of competitions that we'd hardly have believed possible in the past.

Not sure our team does "days off" in a footballing sense. Villa should be treated with no less respect, focus and determination than Spurs, Chelsea or anyone else. We made our charitable donation against Bournemouth. The only satisfying result in the Premiership is a win.

I wonder if we're all a bit unsure about what to expect considering this is by far the most useless team we've faced all season. We flattened Swansea and Newcastle who were on bad form, but Villa are another level. They have proven to be utterly incompetent since August so we really don't know what to expect from our side.

The first goal is what I'm looking for. Get that and I think we're set (we've only surrendered a lead five times this season, three of those in cup games). If we concede it's about the character we've shown all season to get back into the game.

Anyway, it can't be any worse than the two games we played there last season; inept displays and fans turning on each other, surely?
