Real Ales

Recommended Posts

I've recently ditched drinking lager and have started drinking real ales and Guiness etc. Just wondering what some of you seasoned drinkers (pissheads) would recommend? Also do any of them taste the same from the bottles sold in supermarkets to the pumps?

One's I've tried so far

Doombar

Punk IPA

Guiness Golden Ale (love this)

A Brewdog Pale Ale which name escapes me

Tiger

IPA

Living in Norfolk so not gonna find local Leicester ones obviously

Pumps best bottles worst and mini kegs in between ... imo.

The best one is which ever tastes best to you ... The fun is trying to find it.

A lifetimes work. Enjoy.

I hate that brewdog stuff

Stinking aromatic rubbish !

Tiger/ or original everards is as good a pint of ale you will find on these islands !

London Pride hand pulled is nice

And sharpes Atlantic

London Pride is really nice.

Oh yeah I tried Sharps Atlantic last night, enjoyed it.

Get what you mean about the Brewdog being aromatic but it's quite refreshing imo

One of your best bets is going to Wetherspoons. A lot usually have 12 real ales on, over half of them will be guest ales, then they'll have Ruddles, Abbot, Doombar and London Pride on pretty much constantly.

I like the strong, light in colour ales.

See if you can get hold of some Jaipur. I think it's brewed by Thornridge or something? Lovely stuff.

When I'm in Skeg I'll have a pint of Batemans, that's nice too.

If I see a Batemans I'll usually go for that.  Always good.

I was in Newarke & had a pint of Batemans Black Pepper on draught.  I thought it was going to be extra spicy & sting the tongue a bit, but it didn't.  Quite fruity & probably the best pint of draught I've ever had.  I've never seen it since.

Everards pub bang across the road & happy with a pint of Tiger

Jaipur is great on draft.

My favourite real ale is probably everards original though, so good on draft.

Was gonna suggest Jaipur la, so ****ing nice - Thornbridge in general do good shit.

Never been a mad Everard's fan and Doombar is piss.

@@foxfanazer if you ever see any Magic Rock efforts on tap or pump give them a go man, so noice.

I had some Doombar in Cornwall a few years ago and thought it was crap.

When I'm out tonight I'll be drinking Tetleys smooth, it's either that or Ansells which aint great. It's keg bitter rather than real ale but I like it.

No, its a myth. I went to the guiness factory, on the connesiour tour, the con even said so!!

They told me the opposite doc .... Something to do with Liffey water and something else they have to add when it travels .... Either the one talking to you or the one talking to me had probably been drinking the stuff before the tour.
